2. Leaving Home (fanfiction =D)

Omg yall I completely forgot I started posting this and only made one entry, but here's the next thing, sorry. ________________________________________ After a few minutes, she got up. She couldn't go back upstairs, to where Lidy and Cal were sleeping happily and dreaming about things that they didn't have to be afraid of. Thora pushed open the door to Mama and Daddy's room and slipped inside. Mama sat up. "Thora?" Thora climbed up into the bed next to her. Mama wrapped her arms around Thora and held her tight, stroking her hair. She heard Mama breathing hard, trying not to cry. She wanted to ask where Daddy was going, but she didn't. She wanted Mama to tell her everything would be alright, but she knew it wasn't. Thora let her own tears out, and they cried together. "I'm sorry," Mama choked. "I didn't mean for you to find out, not like this." "It's okay," Thora whispered. "I knew already." She had known all along. Daddy had promised he would never leave her, but he hadn't known what Thora had. He didn't have a voice in his head giving him visions of the things that would happen and telling him things he didn't want to know. Mama looked at her with concern. "Did you hear us? Oh, I'm so sorry, I..." "No, I, I..." Thora had never, ever told anyone about the voice. Should she tell Mama? Maybe, if Thora wasn't strong enough to change the future, maybe Mama was. Mama was the strongest person in the world, besides Daddy. Maybe if she showed Mama, all the terrible things wouldn't have to happen. She didn't want to have to hide anymore. The whole thing suddenly came tumbling out. "Mama, I saw it, years and years ago when I was little, before it ever happened. I-I never told you, but I have this voice in my head and in my dreams it shows me all the things that will happen, and I draw them in my sketchbooks so I can remember, and I don't know who it is or how they're talking to me or how they know all the bad things that will happen, but Mama, I'm scared!" "You... you have visions of the future?" "Y-yeah, I think that's what they are." Mama said something under her breath, something she'd never heard Mama say. "I should've known. Your blood is too strong, I... oh, Thora." "We aren't going to be safe here anymore, without Daddy. The monsters will come for us, and kill you, and take me away." Thora whispered. "I don't want you all to die, but I don't know how to save you." Mama stared at her for a moment, and then whispered, "How long do we have?" "I don't know. I don't always know when things are going to happen. I've been afraid of this happening for years." Mama's arms tightened around her. "Oh, baby, I'm so sorry. I know where we can go to be safe, and the techeuns... I mean, there will be people there who can help you." "Help us?" "Help you." Mama gazed at her. "They'll know why you can see things that will happen." "Really?" "Yes. Go wake up your siblings. Tell them to get dressed and pack a small bag of things they want to take on a, a short trip. Tell them they have ten minutes to pack one bag. No more. You too. I need to get dressed and get a few things." Thora nodded and ran upstairs to where Cal and Lidy are still fast asleep in the pillow fort. She was glad she told Mama. She could save them. The voice was wrong. "Lidy! Cal! Wake up!" Lidy yawned and rolled over. "Is it morning?" "No. Get up, we're leaving! Mama says you have ten minutes to pack one bag of things you want to take on a trip." "Oh. Where are we going?" "I don't know. Cal! Get up!" Thora quickly realized that her two siblings did not understand the danger. She couldn't tell them, either, it would scare them. They started to make a game of what to bring. Thora finished her own bag of things. She only brought her sketchbook of the drawings she'd made of Mama and Daddy and Lidy and Cal, Cupcake the pink snuggly bunny, and her doll, Bruna, as well as some clothes, a hairbrush, and a toothbrush. She came back and helped Cal stuff his favorite toys and into his big bag that usually held his trains- they were now scattered across his bedroom floor. Lidy wanted to bring her doll's food in her bag with her doll and her elephant. She added some of their favorite clothes to each of their bags before helping them get downstairs. Mama was ready. She was wearing a black suit and boots, with a big, fluffy white jacket, and she looked ready to fight. Mama picked up their little bags and lead them outside. They followed her to the to her jumpship in the garage. Daddy's ship was gone. "Where's Daddy?" Cal asked. "He-" Mama hesitated. "He already left, to get it all ready for us." Cal was satisfied, and sat down on the floor. He and Lidy pulled some of their toys out and began playing as Mama sat down in the pilot's seat and turned on the ship. Thora sat next to her, in the copilot's seat, but didn't touch anything. She watched out the ship's front window as they flew away from the only home Thora had ever known. She had never been anywhere else in her life. The world was too dangerous these days. She looked at all the empty houses around her house as they flew away. Daddy had told her people lived in those houses thousands and thousands of years ago, when there was a thing called the Traveler, but they had all died when a thing called the Darkness came. He said that now, with the Traveler gone, too, nowhere was really safe. But he had always kept them safe. Nothing had ever come to hurt them. Now, though, as they flew further and further away, Thora could see tiny shapes of the monsters that that had come for them. She felt... she didn't know how she felt. They were safe, but.. Daddy was gone, and now, their home was gone, too. Thora wished she knew where Mama was taking them. She felt sleepy. "Get some rest, Thora," Mama whispered. "Everything will be alright. We're safe."
