Agreed 100%. And the reason to change it is both absurd and pathetic. This is where Bungie ALWAYS fails big time, they decide to change what doesn't need any changing and they do it without even trying to get previous feedback from the players (the ones who will have to deal with the consequences of those changes). So much hubris! Moving the creation of orbs to Mods is an asinine idea. We're already struggling to have room to use the mods we need for some activities and now they add Orb Making mods to the list. To make things even worse, they make Orb mods to be elemental dependent, so we need to equip 4 Orb mods just to be covered when we switch between weapons with different elements. This change is a stupid idea that doesn't improve anything, quite the contrary, it will just make the game more annoying and convoluted.

  • So as usual, Bungie is being a Bungie. Doing what they do best. If it works, brake it...

  • While we’re at it Bungo, why not create a mod that you have to put on in order to make glimmer as well!! Idiots!!!

  • 🤦‍♂️ Glimmer is a fundamental part of the game… Orbs of power on multikills is an archaic feature added after launch. If there were perks that triggered after collecting glimmer that outshined literally any similar perk, then maybe. But there’s not. Orbs of power trigger CWL and are far easier to achieve than any other charged with light option. Strawman. I’m not a shill, I’m critically analyzing this game and agreeing with the change. Trust me, I have plenty of grievances with this game and plenty of changes I would make if I was in charge. People calling me a “shill” and using strawman arguments because I defended a balance change that looks to increase build diversity in video game is pathetic.

  • They really need to understand the meaning behind the saying “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”.

  • I swear to god if the changes they can supposedly make to weapons if they remove orb generation are not god tier good, none of this will be worth it. If they take orbs away just to give us a +5 aim assist perk or some crap like that, there'll be riots!

  • Or, you could play the way they’re intending you too, and plan your build around these changes. Orbs generation on guns was a crutch to revive the horrible base game and is not longer a needed feature. Putting it in mods and requiring a buildmaking decision is sensible and finally gives CWL that small nerf it needed.

  • Everything useful or being used as intended is a crutch apparently. Orbs weren't broken by any means, and nerfing orbs just pushes people towards wells in order to become CWL.

Orbs: Gun go brr Wells: Encourage matching subclass with armor/weapon elements and creating builds around the element identities that were experimented with stasis will be greatly increased with the 3.0 subclasses. Yeah, obviously this isn’t trying to encourage something. The CWL thing was intended, and is obviously not a crutch, but the game is moving in a new direction and this is a great move towards that direction. Without them making changes like this, the game will not reach its full potential. This is the problem with Destiny. By creating Destiny 3 out of Destiny 2 over time, fanboys will complain about their game changing in ways that wouldn’t have happened if they had just made Shadowkeep, Beyond Light, WitchQueen, and Light Fall as a third game instead. And frankly, the loss can be saddening. But I trust Blackburn with the future of the game and this change aligns with his vision of what it should be perfectly.

  • Tbh, why the -blam!-! didn’t they just say so? I suspect, yes you’re partially right, it’s the progression from nerfing warmind cells and now on to CWL, and it’s probably also part of weapon crafting and dealing with tech limitations I.e the extra trait to give manufacturers identity. Again, why not just be open about it? And also, you know the gianormous elephant in the room, why oh why choose to -blam!- with the helmet mods a contentious area to begin with? It feels like a communication failure combined with cowardice to admit nerfing us to keep content challenging. I can’t speak for the Destiny community, but you know, often fans will surprise you, if you’re straight up honest with them they might be understanding.

  • Agreed 110% here. If you keep up with everything Bungie is doing and make analysis, a lot of it has several possible, and sensible, explanations. But they should explain their rational behind a change instead of trying to make it sound positive. I think it was a new person writing this and hopefully next Thursday they’ll clarify stuff.

  • Dunno, it says hippy, but it has a cat link (dmg call card?). Either way I wouldn’t even fault the person that actually wrote the damn thing, it’s the folks that gave them direction that should relax a little more. It’s a game, your customers just want to have fun.

  • Thing is you don't need to match elements if all you want is protective light. Matching elements simply adds 2x on charges. Only thing this changes is it requires 2 mods: well generating mod and elemental charge vs 1 with taking charge. Or you can use mods that charge you based on certain weapon kills or heck charge converter is all you need. Overall it's just a bad change with other CWL mods available, if the goal is nerfing CWL. If you want wells to be more appealing, add more mods like well of tenacity or well of life. Don't nerf other aspects that really dont need nerfing.

  • Exactly. Encourages, not requires. Feel free to not match, but you’ll be running sub-optimally. Great game design.

If my goal is to get protective light there's 0 reason to match elements and my build still works the way i had it prior to my masterworked weapons losing their orb generating ability. Instead of taking charge its now elemental charge and insert well generating mod. Nothing changes for the better and all they did was add steps. I really don't see any pros in this change. And it hardly adds emphasis to wells and matching subclasses when i can put on charge harvester which gives me CWL on any weapon kill, masterworked or not. Change is pointless.

  • Harder to trigger, stat penalty, and void instead of colorless. There a massive change there. Or just run a helmet matching your weapons’ element and taking charge. More interesting choices here than before, even if it’s not perfect.

  • What if you're playing a gm and need your weapons to cover multiple elements? Now only one of your weapons will generate orbs

  • How is adding more requirements interesting? Empowered finish is also colorless and the super cost is negligible seeing as it's 4 red bars worth or just damaging a target with the super changes. This change also gets in the way of finder mods or mods like hands on. The change creates more issues than solutions seeing as becoming charge with light isn't a hassle right now with multiple choices to choose from.
