Are Dredgens Evil?

I've been trying to find answers for this on Google but the only relevant thing that comes up is a reddit post that isnt too helpful The wiki states that dredgens often don't follow rules in pvp rounds of crucible and gambit and take pleasure in killing other guardians, but then a couple people irl have said that those dredgens are only a few. And i also know wiki isn't super accurate for everything I know the point of being a dredgen/joining the Shadows of Yor is to become as close to Dredgen Yor as possible without getting corrupted, but what does that specifically entail? Also why does Drifter give out the Dredgen title if he's no longer associated with the Shadows of Yor? What does being a Dredgen mean lore wise? And does it mean you're evil?

  • To answer your other questions. Becoming a Dredgen now and those who formed "The Shadows of Yor" involve very different processes. The original "Shadows of Yor" aimed to be corrupted by darkness but develop control over their corruption. Dredgens from Gambit are users of dark energies and are named such because of this. There are characters in the Destiny universe who have subjected themselves to corruption with the aim to create a 'balance'. Shin Malfur is the prime example. Being a Dredgen in game means you're a user of dark energies within Drifter's Gambit games. There are other characters who have the title Dredgen and it has a different connotation. Being a Dredgen does not make you evil.
