The Lament Fuels My Destiny 2 Sword Fantasy Quite Well

Basically, I dig it. This sword has a neat style. I like the theme and design to it. What I really like about this sword (that quite possibly makes it my favorite now) is its ability to be really deadly while supporting good and unique defensive play at the same time. I've always wanted to see the guard mechanic played off of a bit more with swords; felt like there was some really good potential there. This sword definitely brings something new to the table, turning your guard into a whole 'nother sword style on demand (as long as you have sword energy, which I think the guard was a good choice for this sword so enemies don't mess you up and drain it by hitting you as you rev up). I normally run Recuperation on my boots (or whatever armor piece that currently supports that perk/mod in the seasons) along with a masterworked sword so Orbs of Power spawn on me and I basically pick them up as I'm slaying to heal off any damage I might be taking moving forward. Well, this sword has healing-on-damage built into it, so I don't really need Recuperation on my boots if I run this and that leaves me with more options for my build. I wouldn't say that the sword grants super-strong healing, but the fact that you just have to deal some damage with this sword instead of get multi-kills makes it just as nice. And any good exotic sword has Tireless Blade. Just like this one. Here's a build to try: The Lament, Charge Harvester and Protective Light. Run through a Strike and build up your Charged with Light stacks by slaying everything. Then when you get to a boss, just go ham on it with your sword. If you aren't one-shot by something and your shields successfully break, then you get significant damage resistance and just by dealing damage, you can potentially out-heal a lot of damage that you are taking. What a filthy build idea. I think I want to try it now. ... I will say though... Something about this sword irks me. Almost like deja vu, but it can't be that. I think it irks me in a good way though. When I think about it, I remember making a post for a exotic sword concept on here in the past (might've been earlier last season or before it). I doubt the post exists anymore because I can't find it, but I typed up a concept for a heavy attack that also acts like you're guarding when you're using it with that sword. Well... The Lament's Intrinsic Trait: Banshee's Wail
[insert button here] Press : Hold to rev the blade. - Increases damage, shield bypass, and adds shield piercing to all attacks. - Gain stacks when dealing damage with revved attacks. - Additional stacks increase the damage and damage resistance of heavy attacks.
That bit catches my attention a lot. I can't help but wonder if I partially inspired this weapon. I know my concept was a bit on the 'too-busted-but-in-weird-ways' side, but the heavy attack bit was the main point of my concept. Besides the bit where the sword could change elements to match your subclass, but I guess Stasis ruined that idea, huh? But yeah, I like the sword. Nice exotic, Bungie. EDIT: Oh hey, I found the old post I made. The sword conept was called Providence. https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/255935101?sort=0&page=0 And yeah, it was a weird one.
