Pokémon SW/SH Crown Tundra DLC - Discussion and Experiences
I'm trying to keep this spoiler-free, but be aware of them anyway.
So, I've recently completed the Crown Tundra DLC for Pokémon Sword and Shield, and thought to share my experiences thus far. "Completed" here means, I've completed all stories, completed the Crown Dex, and played through the Galar Star Tournament with each partner once. I haven't collected all Legendaries via the Adventures yet, but I've done enough of them. In all honesty, the DLC is pushing Gen 8 to be one of my favourite Gens. Crown Tundra's stories were short, but great. Hunting mysteries gave it a cool touch. The DLC also added a ton of endgame stuff, more available than in any other Gen. There's always stuff to do if you want. The Star Tournament is a great addition (and a good way to make money) and the interactions between all the people are great. Here I think they missed the chance to introduce the Version exclusive Gym Leaders to the other Version. I would like to challenge them too. They also added a lot of new (old) Pokémon, and I'm happy to be able to play with Absol again. But this is the point that also irks me most. With two DLC, they had the opportunity to not just add Pokémon of past Generations, but also more new Galar Pokémon. And of those, there are way too few. I would've liked to see more completely new Pokémon. Or Galar versions of old ones. What do you think about the DLC? Are you happy with the content offered? Did you like the setting and the characters? Let me know.

 • I was gonna make a post like this but you beat me to it so I’ll just respond here lol I’ve only finished the Calyrex story and caught Regice so far, but I’m really liking it. It definitely exceeded my expectations (though they were a bit low after Isle of Armor). Calyrex, even though we unfortunately don’t get to actually interact with him much, ranks pretty high on my list of favorite pokemon NPCs. I wish we could interact with more legendaries like that, where they aren’t just amicable but they also directly interact with us. It’s a very nice change of pace from “go into cave, catch legendary” and the immensely common “stop legendary from destroying all life as we no it” that we’ve had for every main legendary since gen 3. I really like how the handled the non-adventure legendaries. It’s a nice spin on endgame hunting. I especially like how high level they are. I was actually not initially prepared for Calyrex being level 80, though I certainly made it more difficult to catch for myself by trying to get it into a premier ball. It did enough damage with Astral Barrage to 4hko my level 97 Yveltal. Yeah it has a -special defense nature but it’s still bulky af and even resists it. It took me a while to catch it. Regice being level 70 was nice too. I’m excited to go for the other ones. They’re actually not 100% easy like the rest of the game. As for adventures, I’m not too fond of them. There’s too much RNG involved and not being able to use my own pokemon is annoying. Idk what the Galar Star tournament is, but I’ll find out eventually Overall it’s good. Much better than Isle of Armor that’s for sure
