Cataclysm Part One: Water

As a summer sun rose on OffTopic, the city began its morning ritual. Cups of coffee were poured, bagels wrapped and newspapers opened to the cool sea breeze. To the unsuspecting fishermen on their wharfs, all was well. But this is OffTopic, after all, and peace doesn’t last long. Suddenly, storm clouds began to form, coming from the sea. Concerned, but not yet scared, the peaceful civilians tied down their boats and huddled under their shacks. In this relative safety, people all over the waterfront felt a light jolt under their feet, followed by some mild shaking for almost half a minute. And then, it was calm. Believing the danger had passed, a few stragglers went outdoors to inspect the damage. Some signs and other loose details had been shaken off, and umbrellas around restaurants had all fallen over. Turning back to the shacks their comrades huddled in, these unwary fisherman spotted the wave, and ran to rouse their friends. An enormous tsunami was approaching OffTopic, several hundred feet tall and at least twice as long. Buoys were swept under, and several boats dashed to pieces as it surged closer. Panicking, alarms were sounded, and the port authorities began evacuating people from their homes. A few sand barriers were hurriedly thrown up, but as the wave grew closer the builders realized their attempts were futile, and fled as well. The wave grew closer, and crashed with a resounding boom into the docks. Shacks were thrown off their foundations, and nearby houses completely submerged. Car alarms went off, then died in the depths as the tsunami continued its march. Screaming in terror, crowds of people rushed to higher ground for safety. At last, the crest of the wave began to fall. But as the seiche diminished, citizens watched, petrified with fear, as what looked like another, albeit smaller, wave rose out of the harbor. The swell began to coil and.. Twist? Drawing closer to the now half-sunken sunken city, it roared in challenge. Almost two hundred feet high, the Elder Elemental Leviathan was a sight to behold. Crowned with watery spikes, and a gaping maw that could swallow a house, the beast was truly a force of nature. “Your day of Reckoning has arrived, OffTopic. I shall bring you into the sea!” The monster roared again, and the sound of a bell being rung once echoed all across the city. Cataclysm, had begun.
Welcome to the first part of my sorta one-man apocalypse! Current objective is to survive the Elder’s onslaught, save civilians caught in the tsunami and defeat the Elder itself, all while trying not to drown. Depth of water near you depends on where you're at, but generally the closer to the harbor you are, the deeper it will be(as well as the more powerful your opponents...) Including one secret boss with special interactions... Good luck!
