Good evening everybody! This is Aifos coming to you alive from my recording studio, with an announcement!
That’s right, I’m thinking of holding a writing contest!
But, er, there is an issue with this idea. I can’t really think of any rewards I could give to the winner. I can’t draw, so I can’t just copy Lee’s reward, and any sort of money reward is out of the question for obvious reasons. If, like, you can think of something then feel free to share, but otherwise, there probably wouldn’t be a reward!
But that’s okay—because writing contests are fun on their own! And, you’ll get some critique from yours truly! I’ve been told I’m pretty good at that!
But with that out of the way, let me go over how this would work!
I would give you a writing prompt, something like “Sally stepped outside and saw a dragon!”, and then you, lovely contest participants, would go from there! Is it an evil dragon that burns down her home? A benevolent creature who shares some grave wisdom? A kid in a costume she gets mad at for scaring her? Etc.
(it should go without saying, but the actual prompts would be more in depth than that)
Then, you would post your story here on the forum under a tag, and in a week or so’s time, I’d give them all a read, give you a short critique, and then choose a winner!
As I said before, if that winner has a reward in mind that I can provide, I can do that, but otherwise, no rewards, just for fun!
Tl;dr? Here’s my point!
I’m thinking of holding a writing contest here in Offtopic! See above for details!
How many of y’all would be willing to participate? Since I still have work, I’d have to wait until next weekend to start it.
But that’s all for now, folks! Jambuhbye!

I’d participate if you did. The prize isn’t a big deal. I can’t speak for other people, but I’d just be in it for the fun rather than a reward
-
Let me put it like this: I enjoy writing. I like to think myself good at writing. Competition is scary as -blam!- and I cave under pressure until I probably end up abandoning the story as a whole.
-
I might for funsies, depending on the prompt. I've never liked being told what to write about. I can't force anything out, if that makes sense.
-
I’ve avoided posting for a while so let’s pretend it’s not Lent. Sally rolls to seduce the dragon (bards amirite?). She gets a critical failure. The dragon in turn tries to belittle her but also critical fails and dies of a seizure.
Sorry, all out of salt.
-
I'd like reading the stuff, but I'm not a good creative writer. I can be emotional or dramatic, or rant and that's it.
-
Would it be possible to decide whether or not I would be participating after the prompt is released to participants?
-
While I will probably not take the time to sit down and actually write something I would like to see what others can do. So I think this is a good idea.
-
More writing is always cool! I'll get around to another writing comp one of these days :)
-
In down
-
I write so much anyway, I'd be willing to join! I'm wondering on that reward as well. Hmmmm

Is there going to be a word limit or something?
-
Ya know what? Screw it, I’ll participate.
-
I'm barely active in off topic mainly because I stick to lore but I figured I would express my interest. In other words I'm interested and might participate depending on whether this happens and how busy I am.
-
No thanks but I like the idea
-
I would be down. I have to write a short story for school anyway, but I can't think of anything so having a prompt would be nice.
