Then a familiar voice sounded over the intercom. “Inquisitor, good to finally see you again, yeah, you probably forgot about me.” Maelstrom said over the intercom. “Since when did you know that I was a Dredgen and that I had made a slight name change to it?” I asked curiously. “I asked the Drifter about you, okay, maybe I threatened him at gunpoint while Paradox was in the room.” Maelstrom replied, jokingly. The Eclipse landed near the Cabal Beachhead, and did I mention that the Thresher that was used got destroyed while on a raid against Siviks and Insurrection Prime, yeah that was “fun”. Now it’s one of those glider ships like the ones Drifter gave out when you were very infamous in Gambit. Now, enough rambling, onto the nitty gritty details. ———————————————————————————————————— I had finally made it to the Ascendant Portal that a couple of Guardians had used a while back to kill Oryx. Maelstrom was there waiting for me, he held Lumina in his left hand and a Hive dagger in his right. “So, what do you expect we’ll find once we go in there?” I said. “Probably a Hive Ascendant, we’ll need to kill it to be able to use Echoes or if we find a powerful Taken leader then we kill that instead and then we use the power of the Taken to be able to use Echoes.” Maelstrom replied. Then the portal lit up, we walked through it, never expecting what would be on the other side. When we entered the Ascendant Realm we were greeted by Hive of an unknown brood. “Spark, what brood are these Hive from?” Maelstrom said, beckoning his ghost to scan the Hive. “They hold their allegiance to a Hive Ascendant named Akûn, that’s all I could gather.” Spark replied. “That name rings a bell, though I don’t know why?” Maelstrom said. We progressed further through the Ascendant Realm in hopes of finding a means to use the power of the Taken. We finally stumbled upon a sort of fortress like that of Crota’s Ascendant Realm. We crossed the bridge and made our way into the fortress. We were immediately greeted with a Hive Knight of insurmountable stature. Behind him, sitting on a throne of sorts, was the Ascendant Hive known as Akûn. I pulled out Executive and managed to parry the Knight’s own swing, staggering him. Then I heard Akûn speak, this had been the first time that any Hive had spoken since Oryx, in English that is. ———————————————————————————————————— “Entaur, dispose of them, prove your might of the Sword Logic.” Akûn said whilst laughing at the fighting that was going on in the pit below. The Knight, Entaur, ran back toward me, I was too shocked by Akûn actually speaking to worry about what was currently going on. Maelstrom was currently busy fending off hordes of Hive Acolytes and Thrall to even try to help, then something happened. Karov appeared from an Ascendant Portal and used a shield to block the oncoming attack. Akûn hissed with rage, he told Entaur that he would deal with the three of us himself. He even used the quote “I’ll deal with these Guardian slimes myself.” Albeit the original quote being better in my opinion. Yet now is not the time for sudden pop-culture references. Karov stared at Akûn, I could see the fear in his eyes, he had encountered Akûn before, when he still served the Reef, when he wasn’t a Guardian, he was chosen by Mara Sov along with two Guardians to eliminate Akûn. He had failed, the two Guardians had died and he fled to the Hellmouth and died there, in the Catacombs, alone. ———————————————————————————————————— I then saw Karov’s fear replaced with anger, rage, vengeance. He then ran towards Akûn, the Light from his Burning Maul shown through the Darkness. He managed to weaken Akûn, though it was barely anything at all, barely any damage was dealt. Maelstrom tried to use Chaos Reach to do away with him, that too dealt minimal damage. I decided to to something that I only would resort to doing once, and only once. I immediately being to glow, my body pulsed with an immense amount of Light, Solar, Arc, and Void Light shimmered around me. I had “Transcended” beyond the normal bounds of what Guardians are capable of when using their Supers or just their Light in general. I the let loose a fury of knives, staff throws from Arc Staff, arrows from Shadowshot, yeah you get the idea. Yet even that did minimal damage to Akûn, he just stood there, laughing, before walking towards us, his long, razor like claws were ready to kill, we decided to run out of there, yet I made a mad dash for a pulsating tablet that was on the ground nearby. Maelstrom conjured an Ascendant Portal and we made it back to the Dreadnaught. ———————————————————————————————————— “Mcreed, What did you even do back there? Karov, how did you even, and why?” Maelstrom said, enraged and confused. “I really don’t know, I just decided to release all of the anger and all of the Darkness that I was holding onto and concentrated all of that into a huge amount of Light, then I “Transcended” that’s what I’m calling it, ok.” I replied. “Now, Karov, how did you even know where we were? Why were you so mad about Akûn?” Maelstrom said, directing his attention towards Karov. “I just had a feeling about where your location was and I conjured a portal to get to the both of you, as for Akûn, let’s just say I let two Guardians die on accident when Mara sent me to execute him, I don’t want to tell you the whole story, and I only remember it because of Petra, if it wasn’t for her, I wouldn’t remember a thing about who I am.” Karov replied. I then pulled out the tablet, Maelstrom and Karov both stared at me with knowing looks in their faces. We all then decided to grasp the tablet, and when we did so, we were filled with Taken energy. I tried to create an Echo in the Tower to relay all of our information to Ikora yet Maelstrom beat me to it. Let’s just say she was shocked at first yet then relieved at what we found, though she told us not to tell Zavala about it because you know how he is with dangerous things. According to Karov, and what Kirk told him, extremely dangerous things go in the Red Vault, whatever that is. ————————————————————————————————————
