It’s been like that since forever lol There is little to no general gameplay difference from Light 750 to Light 950. You aren’t more powerful just cause you reach max light. You’re just the same guardian that can has access to do more shit. I wish they followed Borderlands’ Power Progression in some ways. They keep showing numbers but its meaningless because we never truly know how much HP anything has.
