Well, technically it is not about what you want out of the game. What you are talking about are the players who ignores armor, not trying to make a build that can't be done with armor 2.0
Furthermore, it's not about pleasing but about making sense with the decision with a motive other than artificial grind. Most of the things in the game designed to get you use your materials armor.
So based on what Bungie said, play how you want to is not a reality as you are not supposed to infuse till 950.
