I know! I've actually had to consider what perks I want to use, what weapons I want to pair with my subclass, what stat is most valuable to my playstyle, find out what mods are tied to affinity, find armor that rolls with my desired stats and affinity, then incrementally mod / upgrade my desired armor set knowing that I may find a better stat roll in the future, ensuring I have a lot of build weaknesses I could round out with a bit of time. Wait a minute, why is this a bad thing?

  • The problem is exotics have elements, what if you wanna use Stompees or Tsteps with a fusion or a grenade launcher? Bad luck, you get only sh*tgun scavenger :(

  • A well rolled Y2 armour set will be every bit as good as an armour 2.0 set. It's a waste of -blam!-ing time.

  • Facts. With Y2 armor, you could completely control resilience, recovery, mobility, and all of your cooldowns. Perks were RNG but good rolls weren't hard to come by. The only real issue was that enhanced perks could only roll on gear from pinnacle acivities and couldn't be transferred to other gear. With Armor 2.0, you have complete control of the perks, but ALL SIX of the armor stats are RNG, PLUS the element. And the issue of pinnacle gear having better stats that can't be transferred to other gear still exists. This system is such a great idea but per usual with Bungie, suffers from terrible execution.

  • Because if you wanna play with armor perks that benefits your play style, you'd be restricted. Due to affinity on armours, you can't mix and match guns, they do not have the same affinity match to your armor. Certain builds cannot benefit from the same affinity. Now, to be able to get the advantage of your perks, it limits you what you can play with unless you have 3 armor sets with 3 different affinity with the looks you want. Plus, you can't also use special perks on every armor like previously. Dreambane mode cannot be inserted to all.

It really depends on what you want out of the game. There's the camp who believes that perks are a waste of time due to them not changing enough to be meaningful. This camp can safely ignore perks regardless of their implementation. I, personally, enjoy the sense of cost /benefit analysis I get to do on gear affinity. There are ways to mix & match affinities to round out weaknesses, and there's much more room for experimentation with combinations across multiple loadouts. Of course, it's impossible to please everyone. But the new system has brought me more depth in my character sheet, and that's worth defending to me.

What you are talking about are the players who ignores armor, not trying to make a build that can't be done with armor 2.0 Furthermore, it's not about pleasing but about making sense with the decision with a motive other than artificial grind. Most of the things in the game designed to get you use your materials armor. So based on what Bungie said, play how you want to is not a reality as you are not supposed to infuse till 950.

  • Once you realize it's impossible to have all six stats right where you want them, with the right element, and on armor you like... You will realize how bad it is.

  •
Life is built on compromise.
Wth... That is a direct contrast to the entire intention with Armor 2.0. This system was created in order to allow us to craft the exact builds we want... not "compromise." Yet all they did was change which aspects of armor we do or don't have control of...

  • Cause it's completely unnecessary to beat any content the game provides therefore making it completely pointless and a huge waste of time. But hey, some people enjoy riding the hamster wheel. Good luck buddy!

  • You’re playing a video game...everything is a hamster wheel. Do you want bells and whistles or do you want it plain Jane? To each their own
