I’m personally not at the stage that I can even consider doing builds. Isn’t that the mid-maxing end game stuff not something we should be looking at week 1?. I’ve been keeping amour that has 55+ overall stats and will have a play around with builds when I’m like almost 950. Is it a big issue? Doesn’t it just give us more to chase?

  • Its taken awhile to get a large amount of mods so far (prob still missing alot) but already have found that guns are tied to specific elements. Like pulse rifles are always arc mods, hand cannons void, fusions solar, auto rifles are solar as well. You can use some universal mods as well for some guns. Sort of make me look at what they thought were synergistic weapons that they put together on elements and try out those combos. Does it stop me from using other guns if I can't put their mods into my armor? No it does not. Has it taken me a bit for it all to click into place and start understanding whats going on with the new system, it has, and its clearing up the more mods I get and I got alot already from turning in my meager amount of weapon parts to banshee (only about 5K worth). Gotta give it more times than less than a week to understand it and see how it functions before making an informed decision on it.

  • I’ve not unlocked too many mods yet, but like you said more unlocked you will start seeing the how it all works. But with few I have I also noticed that sidearms are on void. After a while everyone will know what burn amour they want, and moving forward I think people will start to enjoy it more. I can’t wait to get to a max level and start having a mess around with it all. Seems like it will be quite simple to make a solid build, but also got that potential to always improve your gear with better stats, which gives players things to chase.

  • Agree, something I’ve noticed this week also is that most of these mods drop quite frequently. Building our mod collection will/should take more than a week for those that can’t play all day. Getting to the point of builds and loadouts is definitely going to take most people some time. For me personally, I have been keeping whatever drops with the highest energy level from each burn, comparing stats as I go and then deciding. I just build the best overall mod setup for my style. If I’m running a sidearm bounty (not much of a sidearm user) that requires what maybe 25 kills, I have not reason to apply a sidearm mod. When I started building my forge set I built it to the best my mods will allow and now I wait for better mods, this is ok because it didn’t make the forge any harder honestly. In the long run it will be a lot better, imo, it will allow for more detailed builds.

  • Yeah I think the key is just keep hold of high stated gear, and don’t worry about it until the end game. I put the odd mod in my gear when levelling but don’t go crazy as will out grow that piece quickly. I don’t want to fall into that trap of infusing gear up constantly, as just seems a waste of resources. I’m actually really looking forward to end game now, it’s going to be fun making a build.

  • Agree, as the week went on and I got a better understanding of the gear it is starting to make a lot more sense. As it should, lol. I am guilty though, I have started making "sets" already. Mainly because I had the materials but on that note, I didnt go overboard either but as I get mods I just cant resist. You wont find me complaining though, it is totally my decision on that.

I agree with you mostly. Alot of cry babies that want immediate gratification. It's a product of today's entitled youth. That said, the elemental affinity system with mods is just dumb. If it actually made logical sense I wouldn't mind it. It doesnt though. Its really silly and pointless and seems like it was only done to slow down the grind even more.

  • Do you not think over time it will just work when everyone knows what the different burns do?. I mean it’s sort of like masterwork on weapons right? You get that god rolled perks then the wrong masterwork. You get that high stats amour it’s the wrong burn. I get that it just seems like adding more randomness to make it harder to get that perfect amour, but we want to have the chase in the game. Like I said I’ve not messed around with it so I might be talking nonsense lol.

  • You're right to an extent. I agree that I wanted more of a chase. Games like this arent worth playing without a chase. My issue is with the elemental affinity. It just doesnt make sense. Like WHY is shotguns solar? What's the logic? Theres enough of a grind with trying to get the armor look you want and the correct 6 stats you want, as well as the correct elemental resistance you want. Why add to it and restrict it even more by only allowing specific weapons mods on certain burns? Especially when it doesnt logically play into the games lore or set up. It's not like all shotguns are solar. So what's the point of shotguns being solar specific? It just doesnt make sense. It was just a way for them to slow down the grind meaninglessly

  • I had a little look when I got home yesterday to try and understand your complaint. So you’re saying if want enhanced shotgun loader you can’t have void resistance on that same amour? I guess that’s the only real restriction I can see, but even then you can just use the general mod on void amour that covers shotguns ( I guess won’t be as strong ) if you wanted to stack a void resistance. I’m not even sure stacking same burn is even a good idea 🤷🏻‍♂️.

  • Yea but then you sacrifice having more mods to insert because general mods cost significantly more. Like what if I wanted to use shotgun for Savathuns Song strike and want Void resistance armor? I'll have to use general mods, thereby losing out on modifications because it will cost more. It restricts you for no good reason.

  • Yeah I guess that’s a issue and leaves you with a decision to make. Does seem a unnecessary restriction not sure the reason for it, unless that’s it they just want you to have to make them decisions?. Or maybe they don’t want you just having that one size fits all armour?. I’m probably going to make my build without resistance mods on. If I find I’m having big issues with types of burn kicking my arse i guess I will have to look into stacking that burn. You only have the burn residence when putting the mod on right?. Going to be a lot of messing around with armour for different game types. Could end up needing sets for PvP, Gambit, Raid, one of each burn for nightfalls and maybe a farming glimmer set 😂 People will be demanding in game loadout system next o reckon.
