The killing of Cayde and the whole focus on Ikora, Zavala, and Cayde was an awful decision. D1 did a better job presenting the Vanguard vs D2, which attempted the tired "everything must be personal" as if fighting genocidal aliens bent on eradicating your race isn't dark enough. If these people were making a WWII movie the setting alone and the viciousness of the Axis powers wouldn't be enough. They would have to make a character for you to like and then have Hitler personally kill and rape the guy to show "how dark!' the story is... I miss hearing Cayde-6 using the PA system to threaten anyone who stole his sparrow only then to announce he has found his sparrow so no harm no foul.

  • I agree, killing off Cayde was not necessary for story development. A simple twist of the plot would have sufficed to have us chase a new breed of bad guys around. The bad decision of killing Cayde also killed off most of the games identity, it's humor, it's gritty feeling. Since Destiny 2 lacks any personality, I suppose this was an easy fix for a lack of a centralized purpose or storyline distinct from Destiny 1. But now as we see, we are back feeding off Destiny 1 1) cause its cheaper and 2) Destiny 2 has no real story of its own.
