Your whole post also fits right into the OP's point about social players' lack of empathy for solo players. Try and see this from a solo player's perspective: what is there for the average, not extremely good, solo player? What kind of fun activities are there for them to do that won't end up bringing utter frustration?
You also missed the point of the OP. They're saying that a better solo experience does not affect the social players. The game needs players right now, and catering only to social players, or using heavy-handed encouragement to party-up (like what The Whisper and Zero Hour do with their timers) is not going to bring more people in: it's only going to drive the solo players away, which has already happened.
Zero Hour, The Whisper and Chasm of Screams are extremely annoying to solo and are clearly built for fireteams. Yes, they are soloable, but not by the average player, and certainly not by those without 8+ hours a day to spend on Destiny.
