I thought people would get you but it seems they all still rather hate on solo play, at least you tried. Clearly all these players have friends to raid with and others have friends to stomp others in crucible. Solo play is forbidden in destiny, not one of these players knows the struggle to want to play on your own. Idk why its so hard for bungie to simply give buffs on the pve activities to solo players. If most of these players want to play with friends thats fine, saying solo players shouldn’t have the ability to enjoy the game is childish. Not to mention the destiny 2 story is literally designed for solo play, you don’t see ikora talking to multiple guardians or see any other npc talking to anyone else but your ghost. Heck even if you have a team you wont even see them on the cutscenes but hey, destiny is meant to be played together lol

When reading people have the tendency to focus on things that trigger them. They don't focus on facts. Once one key point evokes an emotional feeling it's pretty much over for that toxic person and they go full on troll. Sols has never been biased in his posts or podcasts. He and rwg always look at both sides.

First off most people have no problem with things like improvements to already existing systems like match making. The issue that most people have is when some solo players come out demanding solo end game content, such as the original post that kicked this whole thing off, that this post was made in response to. Second there is an extremely simple explanation that does away with your idea that the story is solo based, it is cheaper and easier. Showing only one guardian on screen is significantly cheaper and saves a ton of programming time. Mean while the actual mechanics demonstrate the complete opposite of what you are saying, everything, even the story is designed with multiplayer in mind. Which is why you get better rewards for playing with others. Not to mention the fact that Bungie themselves have made it extremely clear that destiny is a multiplayer game, meaning all of destiny. This is also demonstrated in every bit of advertisement as well. Destiny as a whole is a multiplayer game, there is no way that, that fact could be made any more clear.

Alright but take examples from other games that actually have the brains to allow solo play even though its designed for multiplayer. Best example off the top of my head is ESO, this game is meant to be played with others, you get rewarded for it too and the difficulty is tough just as any other game including destiny. All that sounds great and yet the developers (as shitty as bethesda is) was able to please both solo players and those who played together. How is it freaking bethesda of all developers gets the solo play and multiplayer just right but you telling me bungie thats a much more notorious team cant implement something similar? Like you said, its laziness. The truth is, players CAN have solo play, bungie could easily please everyone if they so choose. The real issue is laziness and annoying players that think a game like destiny should only be played with others. Even if most players wont accept it, destiny is basically a shooter mmo. Thats the thing about this community, most of the community seems to forget that really important detail about destiny.

I mean how would you suggest they change it? Can't really make things like raids a soloable thing, it would massively limit what they could do with them. Also MMO stand for massive multiplayer online, which I don't think anyone has forgotten. It being an MMO actually kind of speaks against your point about solo play. If anything it being an MMO would more so speak to less of a focus on solo play and more of a focus on multiplayer. So I am not quite sure what your point was there.

The whole point I was trying to make is yes raids and such that actually require team work and cooperation can stay the way it is. The issue that I have is how everything else in destiny doesn’t have matchmaking. Lets look at nightfalls as an example, nightfalls are doable solo, you can even join bungies bs guide feature for matchmaking but in truth, that bs feature is a dumbed down version of matchmaking. There is no reason that nightfalls shouldnt have matchmaking, another issue I have is things like the whisper mission, why doesn’t it have matchmaking? You don’t have any puzzles to do other than being timed and kill everything, same as the new outbreak mission. Quest like thorn are really hard even at max level, why doesn’t that last mission have matchmaking? The issue the writer of the post was making was that these smaller missions the game has players doing are sometimes impossible for a solo player and for no reason. If the mission doesn’t require a puzzle that takes coordination and team work, there is no reason it shouldn’t have matchmaking. Now thinking about it, even the division 2 offers matchmaking in every single thing, why doesn’t destiny 2?

For things like nightfalls, yes there is really no reason for the lack of match making. Although alternatively they could improve the guided games system, which they really never have for some stupid reason. It is a system that could work great if they actually gave some kind of incentive to the guides, but Bungie just can't seem to figure that simple thing out. As for missions like whisper, I think the main issue with making a match making system for that is the general anger it would lead to on things like the forums. People would instantly run to the forums to make angry posts about how every in the match making system is an idiot and a noob that can't get through the jumping puzzle or can't kill, or both. Although again this could be something that guided games could be used for, but sadly bungie doesn't know how to use their own ideas. For the zero hour they could have easily made it so that those who guided other people through were given something like 5 percent towards their catalyst each time, there by encouraging far more people to get others through, and getting their catalyst just a little bit faster. Again the majority have absolutely no problem with making these systems better, or implementing them in a more general manner.

Well there you go, you understand the frustration of solo players. For obvious reasons solo players know the raid is not the same but everything else in destiny should definitely have matchmaking

The depths of their ignorance is astounding.
