Aifos Tonight—A weekly general gaming thread (5)

Good evening everybody! This is Aifos coming to you alive from Aifos Tonight! This episode was sponsored by the Haltmann Works Company, and they even lent us a special guest interview with the secretary/military general of the company; Susie! An interview with Susanna Patrya Haltmann
Susie: “Thank you, Aifos, it’s wonderful to be here.” And it’s wonderful to have you. So, what can you tell us about your company? Susie: “The goal of HWC is simple. Prosperity! We hope to help restore New Halcandra to its former glory, by using the resource rich planets in our system to fuel our economy.” What about the other planets? Susie: “I’m glad you asked! Our planetary mechanization initiative, or “PMI” will convert the entire planet into one gigantic machine, so we can channel its resources most efficiently. While the initial mechanization must be carried out by our flagship, the Access Ark, any operations afterwards, including exportation of resources, will be handled by a smaller, specialized fleet.” But, what about the people on the planets? Susie: “Great question. In the event of savage uprisings, we have special army mechs called “Robobot Armors”. Our Robobot Armors can match the traits of whoever is piloting them, and with our mechanized infantry they become stone cold killing machines!” Wait, that’s not right, Susie, you can’t- Susie: “And the next planet on our list is this one!” Wha-whaat!? Papika! Stop her! Papika: “Papikannons activate!” Susie: “Calling in a mech suit! Standby for drill fall!”
. . . *crash* *explosion* Ahem! Um.. I’m sure that’s nothing! Let’s- *sounds of energy guns firing* Let’s move on! The Sound of OSTs Calling, The World Ends With You
Calling is one of the many songs in TWEWY, which can play- Well, really at any time. While not my favorite song on the soundtrack, I think it perfectly embodies the feel of the game & its music. I can’t say too much about the original, but Final Mix is pretty fresh, and I’d definitely give it a shot!
Well, seems like that ruckus has calmed down. Let’s mov- *glass shatters as Papika tackles Susie’s mech out the window* No! My larger than need be window overlooking a beautiful nighttime city backdrop! . . . *sigh* Let’s move on. An Eye(fos) to the Future Team Sonic Racing
While not as well loved as Mario Kart Sumo’s Sonic racing games have always made a note to have a unique twist on the kart racing formula. Well.. Okay, maybe not the first one. In their upcoming newest entry, Team Sonic Racing, this is coming in the form or racing not as 1v1v1v1 (etc.) but 3v3v3v3. It looks like an absolute blast to play, though I am still upset Jet, Wave, and Storm aren’t in here.. This game seems right up their alley.
Alright, and now for our final segment! Give Aifos money to fix the window! Kidding! That Segment About Games That You Should Maybe Try One Day Because Aifos Thinks They’re Pretty Cool Halo: Combat Evolved
Now I know what you’re thinking, this is a higher profile game than I usually say. But, I know Bop hasn’t played this one. So ha! In your face, Bop!
How about you? Got any game recommendations? What’re ya excited for? Cool OSTs? Whatever the case, that’s all for now folks! Jambuhbye!
Cool OSTs?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f9O2Rjn1azc "We All Became" from the Transistor OST. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aZ5Es-0E6H4& "End of the Road" from Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden
What’re ya excited for?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yVXvoCzo690 Observation. A new game "launching" this month by Devolver Digital (which basically secures it being a good game). Observation is a psychological thriller in which you play as a space-station, instead of a character manning it. The game is said to have a heavy focus on a sense of dread. The game begins as you - the disembodied AI - reboot from some kind of event as the alarms are sounding, the lights strobe, and there is only one crew member you're able to contact - Emma. Emma will navigate the space-station uncovering for herself the mystery of what recently happened. Your job is to operate as the AI you are. Opening doors, checking memory functions, informing Emma which parts of the station are and aren't functioning, and using the various cameras on the interior and exterior of the spaceship to look for damage, and clues as to the whereabouts of the rest of the crew. Your system occasionally glitches, your sound occasionally cuts, and your cameras occasionally distort. What really sold me was that on one occasion during this distortion, something demands that you "BRING HER". You know, as well that the - frankly - fascinating and innovative gameplay and storytelling.
Got any game recommendations?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7x393waFKDw VA-11 Hall-A. "Valhalla" is a cyberpunk themed bartending simulator. The game has been out a while, but I think it recently got a Switch release. Set in a futuristic city, this 10-15 hour game has you playing as a bartender interacting with people from all over, in an oddly thought-provoking adventure. The branching narrative focuses on the fascinating characters you meet. Getting to know their tastes, their stories, what they're doing to survive, and how intertwined they are with the city and it's other residents. On top of that, the retro-inspired visuals and absolutely killer soundtrack make it a real treat to play. I feel like this game can be a hard sell, so let me hit you with a few scores/comments.
"Although there aren't dialogue options, VA-11 HALL-A creates a storytelling experience that's grippingly personal. If, like many game theorists argue, story should always act as a supporter to mechanics, then VA-11 HALL-A is the exception that makes the rule." - Kill Screen

“VA-11 Hall-A is a funny, thought-provoking, and sometimes tragic work of art, with truly original gameplay and a beautiful aesthetic unlike anything else on the market.” 10/10 – CG Magazine

“VA-11 Hall-A is a stunning adventure that manages to deliver one of gaming's greatest stories.” 9.5/10 – TechRaptor
And I'm also going to throw in that 97% of the revies for this game on Steam are positive. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YH8bmTKIkag Graveyard Keeper "Build and manage a medieval graveyard while facing ethical dilemmas and making questionable decisions. Welcome to Graveyard Keeper, the most inaccurate medieval cemetery sim of the year." Need I say more, really? Graveyard Keeper has you focusing mainly on the upkeep of your graveyard and the needs of the townsfolk as opposed to dungeon delving adventure. My only real gripe with it was that it far to tedious and laborious to have to mine and farm and bla bla bla - considerably moreso than the likes of Stardew Valley. With that said, a recent update has made some QoL fixes as well as adding some free DLC which involves hiring zombies.
