I had look at this twice before I responded.
So, essentially, you waited until Max Power before Infusing your preferred gear up to Max Power, correct?
What this means is that you have circumvented the Infusion system and its entire purpose, which was to provide players the ability to carry current gear forward into harder and harder activities, up until the very moment you would more or less use it for the last time.
In turn, what you have just proven is that having Core costs in Infusion, or having the Infusion system AT ALL for that matter, can be considered a redundant decision that only acts as a buffer to elongate Time Played for the portion of the playerbase that are not hardcore. All of this talk of "meaningful and impactful Infusion" is, ironically, meaningless and unimpactful at best.
If Bungie want meaningful and impactful decisions, they should be giving us free reign over what gear we choose to use, so that way the meaningful and impactful decisions stem from our gear builds and how they synergise with our class abilities and playstyle. They should NOT be about what resources we spend.

I completely agree. I haven't changed how I feel about it. But since this is the way it is, I focus on being wise and efficient with my cores because I know how to adapt when something is not the way I think it should be. It's a better strategy and outlook than stamping my feet and whining.

To be honest, that is a good outlook on life in general. There are many things that you have to adapt to. However, this is a video game. A piece of entertainment that we, the paying customer, have the right to demand for change if we do not like elements of the product. While some have acted like children, as you have said, there are people who have given reasonable amounts of mature, constructive criticism by the hundreds, trying to reason with whatever persistent entity is still pushing this Core-Wall in our face.

Also true. It is baffling how stubborn Bungie is being.
