No one is. But you expect a happy player base and an improved game to yield larger engagement numbers. Right now this game is showing number at that are at levels comparable to the worst days in the history of the franchise. Back then Bungie either kept silent....or tried to engage the community and improve the situation. Back then Bungie didn't really have any real competition for its players. But now Bungie's Investment Team is digging in their heels and making matters worse at every turn....and The Division 2 has positioned itself to take a chunk of this games PVE player base away and KEEP it away (including me). ....and in September another 800 lb. PVE gorilla is set to drop into the room in the guise of Boderlands 3...and odds are Bungie isn't goign to have a large DLC to release to compete with it. Bottomline, is that this franchise is in trouble...and Bungie is behaving in ways that is making the situation for it WORSE....not better.

 • Hmph... by and large, the player base IS happy, by its standards. That is to say, it's complaining rather less than usual. The only people who are angry are the PvP sweats, and given that they're the ones responsible for PvP being unplayable now, I rather enjoy watching them get smacked around by skip grenade spammers. Wish the Revelry was six weeks instead of three.

 •
Hmph... by and large, the player base IS happy, by its standards
No its not. People aren't hanging around and complaining....THEY ARE QUITTING AND LEAVING. https://destinytracker.com/ During the worst "content droughts" during Destiny 1s history, the game would easily maintain daily PVE player numbers of about 600-650K. It would keep CRUCIBLE player numbers of around 400-450K. https://guardian.gg/2 Yet in the middle of NEW Seasonal Event. At the start of a new IRON BANNER week....and on the day AFTER the Weekly Reset.... ....this game is barely breaking 450K in PVE....and only 275K in the Crucible. DURING AN IRON BANNER WEEK. When PVE players usually flood into the Crucible and engagement numbers would often go as high as 800K on the PVP side. This game....this franchise....is in trouble at the moment.

 • Well, remember... the proof of the pudding will be in what happens next release. Bungie's profits aren't determined by player numbers, but by content purchased.

 • All too true. We'll see how this ends. If Destiny bites it, well, it's been a great four years and change.

 • I don't think so. I think people are just giving up. The vast majority of the people who bought this game have moved on and simply do not post their thoughts in the forums. They are the silent majority. I was a 30+ hour a week player with three D1 created characters who used to grind the game like crazy and had a combined 9,000 hours of play time from D1 and D2. I quit March 9th as the "Season of the Cash Grab" amounts to $5 of drip fed content stretched over 6+ months for the princely sum of $60 CDN. Complete and utter rip off.

 • I would probably have gotten more than my money's worth from it. But it just feels like that would be licking the boot that kicked me.
