No. Thats stupid. Everyone hated how long it took to level up a gun in D1. Enhancement cores need to be removed from the infusion process. Its just that simple. They should be for Masterworking a weapon or armor only just like in Year1. The community is punished because a handfull of individuals discovered exploits and now have thousands of enhancement cores which infects the data.

 • Upgrading a weapon in D1 wasn’t that bad. For instance, Super Good Advice could be fully upgraded with 8 motes of light (5 or 6 motes if you used a MG Telemetry). The only difficulty was with the year 1 raid gear that required Raid material to upgrade and that was only a problem if you didn’t raid. True, enhancement cores should be completely removed, but that’s most likely not going to happen. This is a compromise that Bungie should be able to live with, but as stubborn as they appear to be I don’t think they will. There have been reasonable suggestions made over many months now and they have ignored them all. They would rather kill the game than give up cores. This is just my opinion, but I see cores as a small part of a bigger issue. Leveling up is completely screwed up and in need of an overhaul. It’s the reason I stopped playing.

 •
Enhancement cores need to be removed from the infusion process. Its just that simple.
In a perfect world, yes. But this is a means by which you effectively remove them from the process, if you're willing to invest time in the weapon. This is a way that everyone gets what they need....even if we don't get some of what we want. Which is the mark of a good compromise.

 • I didn't think it took long at all to upgrade weapons in D1. In my system, you wouldn't HAVE to use it to upgrade, you could also use cores like you do now to skip that process. I'd honesty love to see cores go away completely as well, but there's a good many that don't want them to go away so I'm trying to find good middle ground here. Using a weapon to upgrade would still need some working out, like how long do you have to use it and what would you need to do with it. Kills obviously to further progress and multikills and precision kills should progress it even further. In any case I wouldn't want it to be some insane grind like for a weapon quest. It should be simple and a fairly quick process.
