Continued Enhancement Core and Mod Component Discussion

Hey all, A few weeks back, we talked about Enhancement Cores coming from Gunsmith bounties in the TWAB. I wanted to give a quick update on this, as it also involves Mod Components, which have been a topic of discussion as well. Please note- this is all still in development for Season of Opulence, and could change.
• Originally announced in the TWAB, these bounties would cost Gunsmith materials. This has been changed to Glimmer. • There will be multiple daily bounties to complete, each rewarding one enhancement core and two mod components • There will be two weekly bounties to complete. These will each grant one enhancement core, one mod (Weapon or Armor), and other materials or reputation/rank points depending on the objective of the bounty. • Note: When I say rank points, think Valor or Infamy, **not** Glory.
The team is continuing to evaluate feedback over mod components, enhancement cores, and rewards all up. Thank you for the continued feedback. We'll give you updates as we have them.

  • Only one core for the weekly? Why not 5 or so?

      • While I'll say this is a step in the right direction 1 core per bountie is being a little stingy especially if it's like do 3 strikes or play 3 games of crucible

This really quite simple. Remove cores from infusion, keep them for masterwork. Adding more ways to get cores is not going to help at all. It just means more grinding the same stuff we are already tired of grinding. Stop trying to artificially inflate player hours to make the game look “healthy”. I’m already down to just logging in for 30 minutes a week for “invitation of the nine” story line. If it wasn’t for that I wouldn’t even bother. The game has become a chore now, not a game. I know some ppl don’t agree but a majority does. You have 600k+ playing daily, sounds good until you compare that to the 13 million units sold. Forgive my math I have a cocktail in hand, but that’s, what, 4% of the people that bought it still play?

Whatever you do just make sure its alteast remotely worthy of the time investment. E.g currently spider bounties dont feel like worth the time investment at all. Its like what 5 cores per week after a good 2hours poured in getting ghost fragments and waiting for bosses to spawn. Just does not feel satisfying and worth the time in any way. Maybe 2 or 3 cores per bounty would have been better giving 10-15 cores per week for about 2-3 hours invested.

          • I don't see how anyone can be this stupid. Are you intentionally trying to kill this game? Are the Chinese putting pressure on you for their Mobile game? I don't believe your arrogance is going to be acceptable to them.

          • The cost of infusing items coupled with the rarity of infusion cores really prevent me from having a "meaningful" experience that you guys keep on mentioning. I don't understand why THIS is the hill that you guys, bungie, are willing to die on. I don't understand if you guys just don't care and want to see how far you can go before the community walks away or if you really are just tone death. No one will probably actually read this, especially no one from bungie. I'm sure no one from bungie will actually even read this forum, but hey hopefully you guys get things together before D3. Love this game but this really is a frustrating and relatively unimportant thing for you guys to be focusing on. Maybe instead of focusing on fusion cores actually give REAL new armor and not re-skins, make new strikes, more pinnacle weapons, give the point a reason to play not just "grind for infusion cores". Can't wait for this game to make the comeback and all this exciting stuff that we see in the trailers and are lead to believe.

          • I’m looking forward to these bounties mainly because I never do the scrapper ones (for reasons beyond written explanation), and because it’s making the gunsmith more relevant.

          • [it’s kinda weird to see people not realize that removing cores won’t make the game more enjoyable. They act like without cores all the activities in the game will suddenly become more entertaining when really there won’t be a reason to actually play other than for collections. I also can’t believe they can’t see that they’ll still be casting aside gear for the sake of power, since cores aren’t the only thing required for infusion.]

            • Removing enhancement cores from infusion seems the logical choice paired with adding mod components to the cost of infusion.

            • Why you better listen to the community as you said and remove the enhancement cores from infusion this is just a stalling mechanism for leveling up. You can keep the resources, glimmers, and shards. The spider can continue selling resources in rotation as he does but not cores. Also you should ad more ways to get materials for example have every vendor sell the planet material for glimmer and shards but the spider as is right now in rotation. I like to grind for worth item not for worthless and nonsense grinding. No enhancement cores is QUALITY OF LIFE in game. We will appreciate this.

                • Would you stop playing if cores were removed from the infusion process? Cause I know ppl who have for that very reason. Allot of them. Not a few. The recent debacle with Pinnical rewards just proves how poinless of a gate it is. Now some players have hundreds while others who missed the window have none. Thats a huge imbalance that must be addressed. Adding a 1 core bounty isnt the answer. Its a week solution from ppl who just dont care about the players. You cant deny this.

                • Dude. What do you guys not understand? The progression in this game is complete shit and is not fun. RNG + MW core cost + drops are 20 below your light level = not fun. At all. This isn't even more cores. This "solution" sucks, and is not what anybody asked for. STOP FIGHTING WITH US OVER THIS. JUST TEMOVE THE DAMN THINGS FROM INFUSION. Inb4 "just don't infuse until you're 700." Don't tell me how to play the game. You're not being helpful. Shut up. Inb4 "I have 47,356 of them...they're totally not a problem." Good for you! Want a cookie? Go away. Inb4 "blah blah blah Brother Vance." What a sad way to play the game. A genuine waste of time. Go eat a footlong. And i don't mean Subway.

                  • Another simple addition could be increasing the masterwork minimum level on all powerful drops. Meaning, every powerful item acquired should have at least a level 4 masterwork already. This will still give the player the "impactful" feeling you keep mentioning as they will have to decide to keep it for raising their level or dismantling it for the core.

                  • >one core >one core >one core The amount of gear needed to masterwork and infuse isn’t conducive to this limited access. This system sounds like it will be less rewarding than scrapper bounties.

So the weekly bounties are going to take longer to complete right? And its only going to award 1 core, a mod and rep. I doubt most will even do the weeklies. Doesn't seem very appealing/rewarding for a weekly basis time investment. Just like the spider bounties.

                      • I'd still much rather just have them removed from infusion costs. The bounties are good for people wanting mod components but a weekly giving 1 core is so dumb. Complaints will always be here as long as they're in infusion costs and adding too many sources will defeat the purpose of them anyway. Instead of having them in Infusion you could allow them to be used to reroll perks on gear? Perhaps with a daily limit to prevent abuse?
