Continued Enhancement Core and Mod Component Discussion

Hey all, A few weeks back, we talked about Enhancement Cores coming from Gunsmith bounties in the TWAB. I wanted to give a quick update on this, as it also involves Mod Components, which have been a topic of discussion as well. Please note- this is all still in development for Season of Opulence, and could change.
• Originally announced in the TWAB, these bounties would cost Gunsmith materials. This has been changed to Glimmer. • There will be multiple daily bounties to complete, each rewarding one enhancement core and two mod components • There will be two weekly bounties to complete. These will each grant one enhancement core, one mod (Weapon or Armor), and other materials or reputation/rank points depending on the objective of the bounty. • Note: When I say rank points, think Valor or Infamy, **not** Glory.
The team is continuing to evaluate feedback over mod components, enhancement cores, and rewards all up. Thank you for the continued feedback. We'll give you updates as we have them.

    • Remove it. Also reduce the amount of glimmer it costs to buy planetary materials from spider

      • TLDR: My friend picked up D2 after leaving when Forskane dropped and he is having a terrible time being motivated to play because he cant infuse the gear he likes! Infusion is whats breaking him. This problem, and others, stop me from recommending D2 to other people. When D2 came out I got my friend to play with me, we both had a blast! He stopped playing right before Forsaken and is back on now. He is having the same experience every time we finish an activity or he gets a legendary. He likes how it looks or if its a gun the way it handles, but immediatly after it gets out leveled by a blue to feels terrible having to give up that weapon or gear just for the sake of leveling and because infusion is impossible for new or returning playersS. He keeps playing because we are having fun together, but it is a terrible thing when a system in the game is at every stop killing his motivation to keep playing. Please remove cores from infusion. We dont want more sources for them, we dont want chores to do that reward them, we want them OUT OF INFUSION. They were perfect as Masterwork Cores and at the rate they dropped and how often we were rewarded Masterworked Gear we could scrap for cores, but now its only scaring away players. Also, because of the problem with cores, among others, any time someone asks me if Destiny 2 is a good game to play I ALWAYS recommend some other game. I no longer feel it is right to get new players into Destiny, its for their own good.

        • Enhancement cores need to go away. It's a stupid "currency" that does nothing but add to the grind and decrease the amount of customization for our characters.

Stop “discussing” and just REMOVE THEM!!! This ridiculous system (as well as other “great” decisions) have driven most my Friends List from D2 and at this point, I’ll be with them sooner than later. PS: If y’all are saving this change for September and the release of the Y3 Annual Pass, it’ll probably be too late.

                  • So, it's pretty clear that the vast majority of the playerbase would be very happy if Enhancement Cores were reverted back to Masterwork Cores in name and in function. But that's only one side of this ordeal. I would like you, dmg, to ask your coworkers at Bungie, "Hey, WHY do WE want Enhancement Cores in our game?" and then, I want to hear their response. A little transparency, as some would describe it. There's always been an argument AGAINST having "cores" as a part of infusion costs, so let's hear the argument FOR having such a mundane currency. As for you, dmg, I appreciate you. A lot. I've seen players on the forums direct their frustrations at you, which is completely unfair. Don't leave Bungie any time soon, please.

                      • I just popped in here since a very, very long time. See this post and think to myself, how on earth is this still an issue?! This should be solved already, It is pretty simple so let me explain. The people who are most likely to have fun doing these bounty’s won’t do them because they are flooded in enhancement cores. The people who need the cores won’t do the bounty’s for exactly the same reason why nobody did the clan bounty’s. Nobody want to do these choirs everyday to get a few resources. All in all, nothing but wasted time, effort, money etc. etc. from you guys at bungie. Just remove enhancement cores from infusion and only use them for masterworks, boom problem solved. Mindblowing how you guys can’t figure that one out for yourselves. Oh yeah, BTW, bring back elimanation ASAP!

                        • Think it's time to actually LISTEN to players and not just hear us? If they honestly read the over 4500 comments and still keep cores, well then they are totally lost and the player numbers will continue to drop. Pull the head out of the sand already.

                          • 1.Remove enhancement cores from infusion. 2.Change their name back to masterwork cores. 3.Reduce the amount of masterwork cores from in game activity making them more scarce. 4.Only require masterwork cores for masterworking an item.

                            • We understand your point in that you want people to feel they are making meaningful choices. But this core economy is so bad the only choice that feels meaningful is to keep asking the system be changed. Reverted back to old or giving lots more ways to earn tied to the tasks we are forced to do already to get leveled up gear. To infuse a full set of equipment one time per item with two being exotic that's what 18 cores. That is all spider bounties across all three characters. For just one characters load out. Worse thing is over an hour to get and complete those bounties each time and not while accomplishing anything towards the powerful engrams. I feel adding another bounty system isn't going to quell the masses. It's just going to tick people off. Here's how. People have been posting a lot how bad crucible is. Now give them bounties for crusible they'll say you're forcing them to play your crap festival. Same for Gambit. Those haters will do the same thing. Try having 5 cores offered for 5 match completion in crusible. Then the crusible weekly is worth one powerful and 5 cores. Same for. Gambit, Gambit Prime, Heroic Strikes, Nightfall, And anything else that has a weekly powerful. Cores offered in correlation to objective difficulty. This method can provide enough for each character to support itself leveling up. Then spider bounties could help provide for master working some gear. If there is a flaw in this thought process. Please Bungie team explain what it is. I'm sure you can't.

I can’t wait TIL the push to sell the next DLC/season pass starts , which I’ll guess will be real soon maybe even at E3 just over a month away. I can’t wait until all these players Bungie has ignored do the same thing when they ignore them by keeping their wallets closed, why would anyone even consider buying anything from Bungie ever again , you just need to look at their forums and how they continue to ignore issues the player base has. players have been asking for months for Bungie to remove cores from infusion so they could come back and play and Bungie just ignored them. Bad times ahead for Bungie and it’s all their own doing . Great job to the Dev team you have driven the players away . https://destinytracker.com

road to 5000 replies , remove cores asap ! but its too late anyway , you already ruined the game with cores for too long and thus lost many players and future customers screw your cores and fun/progression policing schemes in videogames
