LfD - The Dreaming City

Hello! This is Lore for Dummies, or a comprehensible, easy to understand guide for one to dive into the lore of the Destiny world. Today, we will be going over probably one of the most beautiful areas in the game, the Dreaming City. This is certainly a harder concept to understand (as far as some buildings go) and it not to get out of hand, so I will try to keep it as short and simple as possible. We will go over Riven of a Thousand Voices and the various architecture within the area. If there is anything you do not understand, leave a comment. I’ll get back to you as soon as possible. I will not be including the Queen, besides right here where I mention that she helped wish to Riven about designing this area. Riven So why am I bringing up this wish dragon within a post about a bunch of buildings? Well, Riven actually created all that you see around the City, believe it or not. The Techeuns created a sort of “wishing wall”, in order to wish to Riven without most, if any, negative repercussions. The name is creatively called the Wall of Wishes. She of course, also let in the Ascendant Realm. Architecture Alright, so there are a few places of significance, though there are many places that don’t do a ton. Let’s just go over the important ones: Oracle Engine: If you haven’t seen this already (which I would be surprised if you haven’t), this Engine acts as a sort of “telephone”, as Ghost describes it. You can talk to the Queen remotely from there, as well as walk through a portal/gateway and meet her at an Unknown Space, which Riven created as well. It is pretty damn important, considering it is a direct link to where the Queen resides most of the time. The Blind Well:This entire encounter and area is used to charge up this portal to the Queen’s throne world, which Riven also created. The Blind Well uses both the power of Sky and the Deep, or Light and Dark, to tear a sort of hole in space-time, to create this portal. Think of that portal the Nine open in the Reckoning. Us killing enemies charges the Well. Eleusinia: The Queen’s throne world, recently taken over by Dul Incaru. While it was taken over by Dul, Oryx corrupted it a while ago as well. Not much can really be said beyond that, besides that it’s pretty damn big for a throne world. Though, the Queen had help from Riven and the tech witches, so maybe it’s less impressive than it seems. The Distributary: Less of a building, but I feel it should be mentioned anyway. This place is where the Awoken became, well, Awoken, and that area is actually a small, separate dimension of its own. It was created when the Light and Dark clashed at one exact time. Savathun is currently trying to get ahold of this little dimension. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I certainly missed a bunch of places, but that’s just a bit of a taste without me going mad from doing more writing outside of schoolwork. A special LfD will be coming out sometime, and will be my last (officially this time). I will also hold a contest for someone to take over in that same post. Thanks for reading. If I got anything wrong, feel free to correct me.
