The Skirmish Pt. 4
Pt 3https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/250835224
“Enough stories, I must show you your gauntlets, each capable of channeling arc energy from all sources and allowing you to redistribute the power however you see fit.” Vince began walking towards an elevator and beckoning for his friends to follow. Marlo was right over his shoulder and turned to face the other two, “there’s a lefty for Pegasus, and a righty for Zana.” “Wait only one glove,” Pegasus cried out, “Zana I’ll trade you five of my most valued sparrows for your glove.” Zana turned to her exo friend, “Pegasus, your sparrows are worthless” “Priceless in my eyes,” he retorted. “Damn, I guess you’re blind then.” With that the two of them caught up to Vince at the elevator he was smashing at all the buttons. “Vince that doesn’t help” Marlo complained as he began messing with the console. “I was just doing the exact thing, it wont help” Vince shouted to his ghost. “What’s up with the elevator?” Zana asked. Marlo stopped his work and turned around, “The elevator’s dead--,” “That’s what I was saying!” Vince cut in. Neo and Ti moved in closer. “Well couldn’t we just take the stairs,” Neo chimed in. “No that’s not the only issue, elevators are the easiest things to access from the Cabal, but either I’m locked out of the systems or it’s not even on at all, can you two double check some readings” Marlo asked. “Sure,” Ti said, “but we still have power, so everything should be working, no alarms have been tripped as of yet.” “Scans from all the beacons are looking normal to me to,” Neo added. “Then what could be the problem?” Pegasus asked. And as he finished his sentence all the alarms started going off, lights flashing sirens blaring. “What the hell!” Zana shouted reaching for her sidearm, “are we under attack?” Before anyone could answer the alarms went silent as the power was cut. “Ohhhh dear,” the ghosts all said in unison. “Uhh guys,” Pegasus said looking out the doors, “I think we have company.” As the rest of the fire-team gathered to see there was a Goliath tank and a small army approaching the lab. 10 minutes earlier on the roof of the lab. A small Cabal ship was hovering above the roof of the laboratory. A cloaked figure dropped out as the doors shot open, they slowly came out of a kneel. Next, crashing behind it one after the other were two hulking Cabal. The small quakes had caused the cloak to short out and it revealed a Flayer dressed in neon purple regalia. The two cabal shared the same color scheme but were outfitted in different armor and weapons one was a Colossus the other a Centurion. The Colossus had a mini-gun mounted on his shoulder as well as the pack containing his missile launchers, His gauntlets were connected to wires up and down his armor and the knuckles were covered with bars giving off an arc signal. The Centurion was not as flashy than his partner and had the standard issue blade on his right arm, but on his left was a giant cannon mounted on the forearm, the barrel was glowing red with a soft hum. The Psion turned and possibly shouted at them both. “Fools, this mission requires stealth,” the Flayer ran over to a console and began messing around with a display on its forearm. “Why do Val’s like us need stealth when we have strength,” the Colossus said clenching his fists as sparks stirred through the wires. “Vo’or,” the Flayer gestured at the Colossus, “the technology in this lab is what allows you such strength and what will help you and Canus to reclaim it all from the guardians.” The Psion went over to another console and began his work again, the two Cabal watched as the Psion tinkered with it. “Me, Caliva’an the from Forced Genius, here to fix all the mistakes of my captors,” the Flayer spoke to himself, “I was able to hack back into the systems from way outside of the planets orbit, so their alarms haven’t even picked up on the welcome party we have planned. Now to just quietly turn off all the inner systems they’ll be drawn into the basement and we may strike when we please,” as Caliva’an finished his sentence, Vo’or came over and with a mighty charged with arc energy he smashed the console into nothing. Immediately Caliva’an’s display lit up with colors. “Fool, you’ve set off the alarms!” the Flayer rapidly typed out commands, “now they’ll know we’re here!” Caliva’an continued his tech work rapidly. Until he could shut the power back off. “Then now is the time to show the Guardians true Cabal strength.” Canus said as he fired a grenade from his gauntlet onto the roof a ways away, it exploded with quite some strength leaving a hole in the ceiling “They know where we are now,” the cannon on his left arm started whirring up and the signal light was red and he aimed towards the sky as a ray of solar energy shot into the sky, “and our troops have the signal to move.” Caliva’an glared at the two Valus, “You do this because you know the shields I constructed are impervious, but there is a Guardian saying of curiosity and some foolish creature known as the cat.” “Do reveal what you mean Psion,” Canus made sure his insult was heard. Caliva’an spoke his piece, “Why risk fighting them on fair grounds when you know you could crush them as we’ve done before in ambush, if they or their ghost survive it will mean the end for us not a breath later, Why even-” Vo’or spoke up this time, “Because we will be deftly satisfied when we rip the helmets from their puny skulls and squeeze their skulls and the ghosts into the nothing.” He walked back towards Canus to make his point, “Now run along to your playthings, so that in their final moments, the Guardians might realize there is more than just the strength of the Cabal to fear within the Empire.” Caliva’an sprinted to the hole in the roof and looked back pointing at the Cabal, “Vo’or as prideful as you are in your confidence you have you and your bond-brother deftly confused with daft.” With that the Flayer jumped down into the laboratory headed towards the basement cloaked.
