The Last Word, PvE or PvP Gun?

“The Draw” quest SHOULD NOT require Crucible.

“The Draw” quest SHOULD require Crucible.

262

Alright, let’s end the debate right here and now. The entire forums are blowing up complaining about the newest exotic quest “The Draw” and how it requires PvP. I’ve seen arguments such as: “TLW was never a strictly PvP gun, it shouldn’t require crucible” and/or “TLW quest is to hard for casuals.” What do you guys think of the quest line? The more votes/submissions we get, the better. Please, feel free to voice your opinions and thoughts on the quest down below as well!

  • All gear and weapons should have a path via PvE and PvP, without forcing you to play stuff that you hate. You'd think that the idea of having fun would be a basic tenant at Bungle, but apparently they no longer care. It's not a matter of casual vs hardcore either. We all paid the same money and all should get gear without onerous game play being involved. It's a game, Bungle.

  • It should require PvP, it’s a PvP gun. Should I get 1000 voices or legend of acrius by playing 100 comp match’s..... no I shouldn’t, I went out and did the raid to get those. I wanted Luna’s howl and mountain top, I got fabled and did the quest, should people be able to get those guns by doing 100 strikes, no they shouldn’t.

  • If u can use it to kill a vandal it’s a pve gun I’ve seen a guy use it in the Crota raid the only reason it was used in crucible in d1 was for chaperone quest other guns were always way better in d1 so in my opinion if u can equip a gun in crucible or in strikes it is not set to a specific que

  • I am of the opinion that it should not, as I had already had the weapon in D1, and should still have it, and old weapons should not be the rewards of any quest line. Yes, even if they brought Thorn back, which I had already earned. You want to lock a new weapon behind PvP, great. But not a 4 year old gun that doesn't even perform as well as it use to in previous versions of the game.

Last word does more damage per bullet in pve than every other hand canon except for 110 rpms

      • I am a PVE player and the quest should defiantly involve PvP. In all my years of playing this game I can’t remember a single time someone used the last word in PvE on purpose. There are easily 20 better primary’s in this game.

I personally believe that for the most part the last word quest should be locked into PvP like it’s other counterpart The chaperone which Tex Mechanica also made, the chaperone quest both in destiny 1 and destiny 2 was a PvP based quest in which the guardian would have to “compete” against other guardians to earn the right to have the gun, so why should the last word be any different? It shouldn’t.

No. In a game where lore comes with gear, it’s a Destiny gun. People want it because it’s part of the universe. That’s all that matters. They can use it for whatever they want, whenever they want. People need to stop trying to dictate how others play. Bungie already does enough of that. We don’t need to start doing it to each other.

      • I do believe that the quest should be locked to PvP since it is predominantly used in PvP. However, I am in no way saying that a person isn’t allowed to use it in PvE. Just from my experience, it has always lacked the DPS to be viable in PvE.

      • Require. And this is from someone who loathes and sucks at PVP. Last word in D1 was one of the pinnacle PVP weapons along side Thorn and Hawkmoon. I barely remember any matches where you didn't see at least one of these, usually kicking faces in left and right. As for the current quest line? I'd make two changes. Remove the point loss on death when doing the first kill segment. It's just.. assanine, really. A bad match or two, or getting dumped against a clan team can utterly demolish your score and put you back to start. make the needed kills higher, remove the loss of progress. Other change would be on the medals required in the later stage. Mayhem made getting the revenge kills easier as... well.. you're just lobbing death left right n center, so bound to clip a guy who just supered a team mate, or get the guy who last killed you. But that's only for this week. After that; it's going to be VERY grindey for the general populace. I'd say make it require medals still, but remove the type requirement maybe and again; increase the number needed. Other than that; I enjoyed this quest line, even if the gun itself is a bit.. meh? I won't be replacing my Ace of Spades with it, that's for sure.

I think that people have been complaining since D1 about Crucible steps that make you lose progress. And they’ve been complaining for the same amount of time about how progress loss needs to be removed in favor of simply gaining progress but not being able to drop back any. I think that people have also asked numerous times before that quest steps include alternate paths as an alternative to no progress loss in Crucible. PVP route gives you more progress and PVE goes much slower but you don’t lose anything if you die. I think that Bungie hears the complaints but they aren’t listening and don’t care enough to stop repeating this mistake and make things better for their players.

        • There should be a vote option about lost progress. I'm a pretty casual PVP player and really don't mind quests that take me into Crucible. With as uneven as it is though you shouldn't lose your progress because the game decided to spawn you in front of someone's Spectral Blades or you join a match in progress and get spawn camped before you even finish your transmat animation.

        • In my opinion this poll is redundant when people have already been having a discussion in other posts. This doesn’t settle anything. It’s a popularity poll that will be voted on by less than 1% of the Destiny community.

        •
The thing is that I’m surprised this is still a thing. I get that the devs make it like this to actually make it a challenging grind for the players who can actually hold their own, but it does feel pretty exclusive to the PvP side of the Destiny Community when it has a loss design built into its progression. This is nothing new. When right after Competitive Crucible rolled around, lots of folks had gripes over the loss system and even now there are still folks not happy over its design.
To be fair, that’s more or less the fault over Competitive being badly designed overall, not so much of being challenging.
They should’ve already known this by now given all the Feedback that’s been given so why haven’t they caught on by now? Are they just that out of touch with what their players want to see out of this game or are we just not getting the idea out to them at all?
Just to clarify, I’m not speaking on my own behalf here. I’m well enough capable of getting that progression quest step done. I’ve played my fair share of PvE and PvP combined since Late TDB in D1 so if anything, I’m sure I’ve got a good idea by now by what the majority of the Destiny Community wants to see. Besides, if anything it ought to make sense to make stuff like this easier. How else would Bungie make it easier to sell the Bungie Rewards merch if you aim to make it earnable for majority?
