“Lock them all in a room with me for 24 hours. As a professional courtesy, let it be an aircraft hanger. They’ll need some room to run and hide. After all, there can be no true despair without hope.” - The Dragon AssassinNWW approached the aircraft hangar, quite off put by the 1 ton dragon walking close behind him. “So the challenge was just one creature for at least one hour in a room…” The beast grunted. “I had to pull a lot of strings to arrange this. Are you sure you want to be locked in here, with all of them?” The Dragon snorted a quick flash of flame from its nostrils. They stopped at a pair of double doors barred shut. On each side of the entrance stood two heavily armed and armored security guards. It was futile, but each guard had placed their fingers over the triggers of their assault weapons. “Holy shit,” one of them said under her breath. The Dragon turned looked at the guard who had cursed. She cursed again and took aim at its head. “This one is unfit for duty,” the Dragon said. AssassinNWW put a hand out to the guard, “Easy! Easy. Well, she is among the few ex-military personnel we were able to assemble for this event. We have a few teams ready to secure or neutralize any… creatures that escape. The investors want a good show. It cost a lot of money and lives to capture, contain, and transport these guys.” The Dragon made eye contact with the guard. In a heartbeat, she dropped to the ground. The other guard, cautiously and with his gun raised, went over to the female to check her vitals. “She has a pulse, but it’s weak.” He called for a medical team over his radio. “Let us begin,” the Dragon bellowed. “My patience grows thin for this trivial matter.” “But we need-” The Dragon gave a fierce growl, sending adrenaline surging through assassinNWW’s body. “Do not defy me!” AssassinNWW scrambled to the lock. With a deep breath to ready himself, assassinNWW quietly and carefully unlatched the bar lock of a pair of double doors. He whispered, “Are you ready?” The Dragon hissed back, “Are they?” A blood-curling scream sounded within the hangar. “Apparently. So as soon as I open this…” “...I go through. You close and lock it.” “Okay,” assassinNWW started to hyperventilate. “Here we go.” AssassinNWW opened the door to the abandoned hangar. The hinges creaked loudly from a decade of neglect. A loud shrieking sounded out from the darkness, accompanied by many more shrieks and staccatoed clicking. The Dragon opened the other door in order to fit through, and charged in, roaring. Immediately, the AssassinNWW and the other guard rushed to push the doors closed. AssassinNWW couldn’t completely close his door, however, no matter how hard he pushed. He looked down and realized the arrowed tip of the dragon’s tail was caught in the threshold. He heard a loud roar, saw a bright orange-yellow glow and felt intense heat emanate through the open space and cracks. The other guard pushed assassinNWW down, quickly opened the door and shut it after tail went through. He quickly set the bar lock and chained the doors shut with a heavy padlock. “Subject is contained,” the guard shouted into his radio. “Hanger is secure!” “Very well. All teams proceed to positions according to Phase 3 of the plan,” a voice said over the radio. “Alpha 1, you will ride back to base with Alpha 2 for debrief when medical and exfiltration arrive. Alpha November Whiskey, drive your vehicle back to headquarters on the double. The show has already started.
