Super dumb. Been waiting like a month for more DLC content at this point and it drops and is some garbage runic puzzle designed for 1% of the playerbase. Totally understood the dlc would deliver "endgame," but all theyve done here is give us an unecessarily hard puzzle to solve in lieu of actual content

  • They’ve been prepping people for this kind of puzzle solving since the first forge. Nothing stopped people from taking that knowledge and figuring this out for themselves.

  • Nah they didn’t prep anything. It wasn’t in the core gameplay of any forge. Hell I have about 20 clears on each forge and had no real clue about any of the “caveman drawings” till izanami. It was a side feature then and is now made a core component, with little to no explanation in any lore or story component about what the hell any of this is. It’s like we’re playing an FPS of X-Files. 😂

  • Just wait. Next season we'll get to hear that Shin is close to finding us but it'll be just offscreen and in a passing bit of dialogue that we hear anything about him or the drifter. Ooh, collect more lore for the story? Don't mind if I don't cause this is complete horse shit.

  • It is content though. Just because you don’t want to do it doesn’t make it any less a piece of content? Would you rather everything be available from day 1 and have nothing to work towards? What’s the point of doing anything if there’s no end goal?

  • Here's the problem with this design that Bungie have tried. They're trying to stretch the content out so that we always have something to do... Except for all those weeks when we do the have something to do and all the weeks after this last forge drops when we'll have nothing to do until next season. All in all, we end up waiting the same amount of time between content. Forcibly stretching out this amount t of content already has done more harm than good. Here's the thing, drop all the content in one go and of course the super hardcore players like the streamers will beat it all and move on to other parts of the game or even other games and that's fine. The rest of us player between streamer level of hardcore play and casual play will play at our own pace and beat the content a couple of days or so after the streamers and also make our own decisions, keep playing the forges, move on to PvP, continue doing milestones when we need nothing anymore or play another game. Its fine for destiny to have down time, it's perfectly healthy really because if you're pushing yourself to play the same old content to over and over rather than do something else you'd rather do, you get bored and it's easier to get bored when the next lot of content dries up, etc. Whereas forcing content to last longer while having down time inbetween small drops of content isn't quite as healthy. What do you do between content? You keep playing as you wait, you build expectations for the next lot of content and then it's inevitably worse that what you expected and in the case of the labs, it's straight up destroying any enthusiasm players had for the labs and next forge. Now we're all tired of waiting for the thing we paid for and when we get it, it's designed for a small percentage of players and while we could all in theory give these puzzles a go, we'd get nowhere and most of us have no idea what any of it is about. Nothing prepared us for this at all. There's nothing there to prepare us for it. Those symbols on the forges? Most of us just Googled how to get the emblems, shot the symbols and that's it, they mean nothing to us and why should they? They've not been explained and even when I did try to look up the significance of them, all I see is people talking about puzzles and codes that I don't understand or care to understand.

    If you can call standing in a random spot in a new room to shoot symbols on the wall to UNLOCK the content content, then i completely understand why the current content output is shit for this game, because people like you are happy when youre sold creatively bankrupt garbage...

  • I’m not defending the quality of the puzzle. All I’m trying to say is this isn’t made for 1% of the population, it’s for people who took the time to learn a new game mechanic.

  • That new game mechanic was never explicitly mentioned at all. The thing with puzzles in any game is that the game is supposed to prepare you in some way for the puzzle. This is out of nowhere. Some symbols lead to some emblems when shot in the right order with the right weapon but how did people find out about them? How did people figure out what order to shoot in? Most likely trial and error. So what after that then? A screen that is encoded with a message that gave no more information than we already knew from the road map but guess gave us about the release of the 4th forge. Was that code supposed to be a subtle hint to be ready for more puzzles to unlock the forge? Who knows puzzles have never been mentioned. The 1% who have been figuring this out are still the 1%. I've tried to understand and make heads or tails of it all but I'm still lost. I feel cheated really. I've waited like everyone else for more content, patiently... What did I get? Nothing I can understand let alone play. Much like a raid, I have to wait for someone else to understand and beat it before I can touch it because while I consider myself a hardcore player, I'm not AS hardcore as those players who are on a completely different level.

  • Ive done all of the other shoot stupid glyphs off the wall puzzles, still am not willing to spend a day guess and testing orders to shoot symbols off the wall in. Again, that isnt a new mechanic or an engaging puzzle, just incredibly poor game design.

  • Nah, but clearly have alot more patience if theyre willing to figure out a runic alphabet cipher to shoot symbols on a wall in some room all day. If its your cup of tea, then fine, go have fun. But dont be the fanboy in here trying to shut people down for calling it exactly what it is, creatively bankrupt. I have no issues with a good puzzle. Shooting symbols on a wall in an uber specific order IS NOT a good puzzle.
