I'll make sure the security team sees your report. We don't allow accusations that include player names to be posted publicly here on the forums because it leads to witch hunting, but you can report suspected cheaters using this form. We do issue bans and restrictions for a wide array of cheating including modification or interruption of Destiny 2 network traffic with intent to disrupt the experience of other players or to gain an advantage in the game. For more information on what constitutes cheating and how bans and restrictions work, you can visit our Restrictions and Banning Policies article.

  • They ban people everyday. Read the help forums and you can see people crying about being banned literally everyday.

  • Mostly PC players though who aren't actively cheating as just having certain software or apps open will result in an automatic ban. Remember when D2 launched on PC and literally thousands of people were banned on the first day? There's so much cheating on consoles these days that it's actually ridiculous. Lag switching, rapid fire mods and ddos attacks are happening more often and nothing is done about it even with proof. It took nearly three and a half years to finally ban the infamous clay_is_clutch and it's possible he's still playing on a different account.

  • Everyone but the cheaters! If they ban so much how is it that it took 3 years plus for the Ultimate Destiny cheater to get banned? Perhaps the people naming the cheaters get banned, but the cheaters get away with cheating, now how could that happen, oh yes, maybe the cheaters paid off Bungie, just like it was said in that one Reddit post?

I don’t know what system to ban is in place at the minute, or even whether or not people are really getting banned or even punishment, but you guys are gonna have to refine your report system, because as this person has shown it clearly is not working as you intended. A game with any form of real competitive has to crack down on cheaters, or else it will give people incentive to cheat as they know they won’t get in trouble.

  • What’s wrong with Witch hunting? Outside in the real world if someone is a “Suspect” but they flee the scene, a witch hunt begins. Others should not have to suffer. Expose them, so we can 1. Avoid them, 2. Report them

  • lol thats not at all how it works in the real worldl. any police officer would tell people not to pursue anyone thought to be a suspect. vigilantism is illegal. something definitely needs to be done about cheaters in comp, but it is bungie's problem to solve not the player base's... even if bungie is sitting on their hands instead of doing their due diligence in fixing the situation.

witch hunts are bad in general as there would be nothing stopping me from saying you cheated and having people report and harrass you. Mob mentality does not take much to get rolling.

  • You think people just go straight to harrassing people without evidence? People look for proof/evidence first. Like looking at recent game history.

I have seen both case tbh. I have seen people who look for proof and those who hop on a bandwagon

  • Of course that will always happen. But other companies have publicly shamed or “nerfed” cheaters. Bungie hasn’t done anything, and they are burying this post behind others.

  • Say I called you a cheater. With no evidence in your favor, people assume the worst and immediately begin to accuse you of worse and worse things until you get banned from the forums for something you didn’t even do. Before you say “but people wouldn’t believe you with no evidence,” remember what community we’re talking about.

  • If they cheat, there will be evidence. The boy who cried wolf never wins, I don't care how bad the community is. Your logic is saying that the boy who cried wolf....wins.

  • You really think the community is like that? As soon as post saying “I got DDOSED in my last Crucible Match” the first thing people do is look at the opposing teams Game History. If it’s suspicious then they should be watched carefully or action should be taken immediately. I’ve seen this before, I’ve done it before. I’ve checked Game History of some people on this forum to see what happened. Innocent until proven guilty. You can’t argue a hypothetical situation to something that clearly happened, which is what OP above has detailed.

  • It's because people would be falsely accused by idiots who think someone cheated even though they might not have and in turn being spammed by the internet because their name was posted online.

  • Innocent until proven guilty, OP above gave proof through his Internet Company asking him about his DDOS. If there is proof, there should be punishment and shame.

No offence to the OP, but if ISP has the evidence of a single ip address, why are they not pursuing legal action as it was an attack on their network? OP should not be worried about being on their bad side, they should be going after the attacker.

  • Maybe they have, but that won’t stop the same people from doing it. So they should still be banned.

  • Yea that makes sense. I was speaking more in general. Also though what's the point of shaming someone's gamertag when they are going to get banned anyway and make a new account? I feel like the cheaters want their names to be noticed and publicised.

  • It’s the same with false -blam!- accusations, yes there are times where that happens and the victim is not punished for lying. However, this is different from Video Games. Yeah yeah they’re just Video Games, but when companies like Bungie have strict rules against cheaters, action should be taken.
