No I’m actually a college graduate, currently working as a mental health and addiction counselor. The brain is part of the body, it is prone to illness as much as any other organ. When those illnesses occur, they often manifest as depression, anxiety, mania, and irrational thought. Suicide is often the result of an error in the brain that leads to lack of feeling any positive emotion, and lack of ability to see around erroneous thought. Most people who die by suicide are entirely convinced that their loved ones will benefit from their death. It can take months and years of treatment to correct behaviors brought on by mental illness. In some cases, like this one, treatment doesn’t work. People who have been in the military are much more likely to die by suicide than the rest of the population. And people like you are the reason many people don’t seek treatment. The attitude you have may very well lead to the death of someone you care about one day.
