Enjoy:
some of these you may have seen in previous posts.
Weapons: - Sturm & Drang - The lore is also based on a late 18th century, German literary movement, such as ‘The Sorrows of young Werther’ by Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe. - Moriaen-D - a 13th century Arthurian romance in Middle Dutch, detailing the story of Moriaen, the Moorish son of Aglovale, one of King Arthur’s knights of the round table. - - Izdubar-D (Babylonian) - the representation of Gilgamesh (the king of the Sumerian (southern Iraq) city-state of Uruk and a major hero in ancient Mesopotamian mythology), in the Victorian era story ‘Ishtar and Izdubar, the epic of Babylon’ (1884) by Leonidas le Cenci Hamilton. - Hard Light - the lore tab is very similar to Steve Jobs’ speech when Apple released the iPhone. - “against all odds - this machine gun is a possible reference to the line by C3-P0. The flavour text is the poem “And neither the angels in Heaven above / Nor the demons down under the sea / Can ever dissever my soul from the soul / Of the beautiful Annabel Lee...”
Mission/bounties/patrols: - “Reverse the Polarity” - the name of the EDZ adventure, was used during the Third Doctor’s era as a catchphrase. The full quote was “reverse the polarity of the neutron flow”. - “Hack the planet” - the name of this Nessus adventure is a popular line from the film “Hackers”. - “Four arms good, Two arms better” - this old Russia patrol is a reference to the book “Animal Farm” by George Orwel, in which a similar line “four legs good, two legs better” was used. - “It’s all in the game” - this old Russia patrol has you collect “wire wraps”. The line and objective are nods to the HBO show “the wire”, from which the patrol’s name is a reoccurring line. - “The Hero We Deserve” - This solstices heroes bounty is a play-on the line from “Batman: The Dark Knight”, delivered by Gary Oldman’s Jim Gordon, “He’s the hero Gotham deserves, but not the one it needs right now”. - “The Very Best” - this solstice of heroes bounty is a quote from the Pokémon theme. • A few extra ones if you're still collecting. In the first dreaming city mission in Forsaken, Toland asks, "Am I to be your Virgil?" -Reference to the Divine Comedy and the character Virgil, who guides Dante through Hell and Purgatory In the Dawning, a holiday quest step was called: "And Miles to Go Before I sleep." A line taken from Robert Frost's "Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening"

Also, Zavala’s Grenade launcher Outrageous Fortune is another Shakespeare reference- “To be, or not to be. That is the question. Whether tis nobler in the mind to suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune...” -Hamlet

  • Also on IO there is an adventure when Ghost has the dialogue and says “These aren’t the robots we’re looking for” which I’m pretty sure may be a reference to Star Wars

    • Zen Meteor- A sniper rifle from Destiny 1 that came out with the April Update (originally PS exclusive) had a reference to the song Killer Queen by Queen. The exotic perk that came unlocked on the gun was called "Dynamite . . .", and the the last perk unlocked was ". . . With a Laser Beam." That information is guaranteed to blow your mind.

        • What about the Marine pulse rifle. It's description reads: Improvise, adapt, overcome. That's a meme. You could also include the kek armor for the hunter that bungie changed for whatever reason.

In the lore for ghost fragment: ghosts it references Claudio Sanchez ' "The Amory Wars" comic book series (You might better know it as Coheed and Cambria). It references 7 suns in reference to the seven stars of Sirius, it also references how it's "full of life" and souls just "stand or float about" in reference to the keywork which is made up the souls of the dead and connects the seven stars. It also references world's that were carved up by the forces in charge in reference to how The Writer (God) inherently ended that entire universe by shutting down the stars and causing the remaining 69 planets to crash together with the keywork not there to hold them apart. It also references us because in the "Second stage turbine blade" chapter of the book, star VII is shut down and the 9 planets of sector 12 are sent spiraling into space after Coheed was taken by the monstar virus and shut it down, at which point Cambria kills him and in grief ends her own life reigniting the star and turning it into a sun. "Which is us, ofcourse ."

          • The salty emote was inspired by a video of “Salt Bae”, in which a Turkish chef sprinkled salt in a very stylish manner. The alliterative dance is a reference to the PPAP music video (the dances are very similar), in which an odd Japanese man dances and sings about fruits and pens... that was a meme too.

The D1 Iron Banner special space-ship "Hebridean Thoughtcrime" (Y2) is a reference to 1984 by George Orwell. Orwell wrote his master-piece (the greatest novel of the 20th century) on the Isle of Jura, in the Inner Hebrides, a series of small islands off the West coast of Scotland. He wrote it in poor health, suffering from the tuberculosis that would eventually kill him aged 46, a short time later. If you need the thought-crime part explained, read the book!

                  • There was a Dead Orbit sparrow in D1 called “Arecibo Answer”, having to do with the largest radio telescope in the world in the town of Arecibo, Puerto Rico. It has been used for many years in the search of extra terrestrial life and was featured at the start of the movie Contact from the Carl Sagan book.

' “captain o captain” - this is a reference to the line from Robin Williams character in the film Dead Poets Society' Well, the film Dead Poets Society has references to the Walt Whitman poem, but is not the original source. "Oh Captain! My Captain!" is an extended metaphor poem by Walt Whitman written in 1865 about the death of Abraham Lincoln

                      • Another Minor detail is the ornament Raging Lepus for the Jade rabbit that changes the rabbit logo on the magazine to a white rabbit with fangs and red eyes, which could be a reference to the movie Monty Python and the holy grail, or a minor kids novel bunnicula (it's a book I saw at a bookstore that I assume is about a vampire bunny). On the same page as Monty Python, I'm going to dub the new dawnblade warlock grenade the "Holy hand grenade"
