If you join in a strike, stick with your team

If you start a strike, heroic or regular, you get matched into a team. And being a team means working together, not repeatedly trying to run past all the enemies while the other two work their way through them, and dying, leaving the other two to kill all the enemies while you wait to respawn Seriously, i've had 5 strikes today where someone kept trying the "mad dash" tactic. If you're there at the start of the strike, you shouldn't be ending it with less than 30 kills while i've got over 170 (Edit: the point i'm trying to say here is pull your weight, and work with your team. Don't be some idiot that runs off by themselves, dies without even reaching the next checkpoint, waits to revive, and then repeats that process multiple times in a single strike. It's basically the equivalent of sitting in the back doing a dance emote while the other 2 players are killing their way through

    • It also helps when guardians equip the proper weapons for "singe". REGARDLESS of whatever milestones they are trying to complete . To have everything on void for a solar strike....ffs... come on! If people want others to do the strikes as "intended", then this is fair. The ones who sit and kill everything also manage to die over and over, just like the runners. Especially on Mercury.

      • Cant tell you how many times I carry kids through strikes. Gets -blam!-ing painful sometimes man. On the big cabal drill strike with the giant vex boss at the end. Ill get to the part where theres a mini cabal base with two yellow bars on each side you have to kill before moving on. Yah I'll kill both of them by the time my two scrub team mates will even get there. Like wtf are these kids evemln doing?!?!?

        • Rarely do I run a strike where I'm not pulling two clowns who die over and over straight to the boss. I find it funny that people think killing everything takes some sort of skill. running to a boss with minimal kills in a couple minutes takes far, far more skill.

        • Nothing wrong with skipping a pointless gun fight but if they keep running ahead AND dying, just drop that teabag and let them respawn themselves. All the strikes are easy anyways me and a buddy always 2 man it

          • People that run through strikes should just stop playing the game. They ruin the experience for others.

            • I guess if you want to run through it faster you are free to do so, just like I am free to leave you dead the entire time as well. Tit for tat.

            • If I'm doing milestones I actually like when I have someone on my team who can get through the strike so fast that I magically end up at the boss. At this point everyone's power level is high enough that we all know we are going to beat the strike. The only real show of skill is the people who can somehow get to the boss in less than 10 minutes, its actually quite impressive. Have you seen some of the things these people can drive a sparrow over? The way I see it, its not about instant gratification its about raising the bar for yourself to the point where one slip up can cost you dearly. I can't speed run but sometimes I do try to follow the guy who is speed running because its interesting. We've been playing some of these strikes for almost a year and some of the people who play have played them hunreds if not thousands of times so what's the big deal? They risk looking stupid if they screw up, but if they don't the whole team gets the milestones done faster.

You can think the rng loot system for that. Since catalyst and strike exclusives drop solely from boss/end chests, and drops are solely rng based, the faster a player can complete a strike, the sooner they get to roll the dice and the sooner they can either stop farming or hop into the next strike. There's no incentives to kill mobs and taking your time clearing mobs only means taking a much, much longer time to farm your drops. When it can take literally hundreds of strikes to get a single drop, and that's if you even get one, no-one wants to spend 20+ minutes for one roll of the dice. I personally don't care since, from my own experience, most "speed runners" will slow down after they get slaughtered once or twice or, depending on the strike (infinite forest strikes), I'm right there with them. For me it all comes down to what my team wants. If I feel like they're trying to just run past everything, I'll run with them. If they're taking their time killing, I'll take my time as well. If we are running, I'll stop and pick off snipers or high threat targets before I run through and that's usually enough to keep my teammates from getting picked off as they rush through. The fix for this would be something similar to nightfalls, where the higher your score the more likely you are to get drops. The increase to drop rates would need to be substantial, however, in order to provide enough incentive for farmers to want to take the time to clear mobs. If Bungie were to do something like this, and they pulled some crap where drop rates with low scores are 1% and drop rates with high scores only go up to 1.5% then obviously there would not be enough incentive for speed runners to slow down. Maybe something more akin to low scores get 1% and max tier scores get 10%. As prestige nightfalls are, from what testing I've seen posted anyways, the difference in drop rates between low and high scores is so minuscule that most speed runners can't be bothered to slow down. A score based system that increases drop rates too substantially would of course lead us back to the issue vanilla D2 had, where most players had all the gear they could ever want by week three. The system would need to be moderated and tweaked which is where the biggest problem arises; Bungie's inability to make even minor game adjustments more than once every three months. >.<

              • Nah, you don’t need to kill everything in every strike. I’d rather take 10-15 minutes rushing through than to wait for teammates that feel like they have to shoot at everything that moves.

              • No. If I can run through a strike and make it to the boss arena doing minimal work, why shouldn’t I? The only benefits of killing your way through a strike are to finish challenges, get bright engram XP, and a very minimal chance at getting a catalyst. Would you rather help someone finish challenges they could probably do on their own while others rush through the strike, get engram XP that would be just as easy or easier in most other places, or barely increase their chance at a catalyst that you don’t actually know if they do or don’t have, OR would you rather reach the boss as quickly as possible, get the same amount of tokens that you’d get if you killed everything in the strike 10 times over, and be done with it? I’m sure some people would much prefer the former, but the benefits of rushing really outweigh the negatives.

                • Maybe they died because YOU didn't stick with your team. All the strikes have one objective, take out the boss.

                  • There is nothing wrong with the mad dash tactic. If you can run past all the enemies and get things done fast, why shouldn't they? The goal of a strike is to complete it and kill the boss. Some parts of strikes cannot be ignored or skipped, but most can. Now if they are the type of person who runs ahead and dies, then I get mad at those people. But if they run past the enemies without dying, then they are fine.
