Fireteam Ashen(19): Beliks Prime
Looking for a different chapter? Here's the Master Post.
"Shit, shit, shit, shit, shit!" Avesk yelled as he maneuvered his jumpship into the Ketch's landing bay, dozens of Skiffs firing at him as he did so. An Arc bolt scraped the wing of his Arcadia, sending it skidding onto the hard metal floor. At that moment the Ketch's bay shields activated, leaving the swarm of Skiffs outside of the ship. Avesk teleported to the outside of his ship a moment later, and jogged around to get a look at the damages. The paint was severely scraped and the right side sported a large burn down the side of it. "I'm sure Amanda can buff that right out." Barry reassured his Guardian as he appeared next to him. They both winced as the right wing abruptly caught fire. "Okay, that one's going to cost you." / “What’s taking him so long?” Validus paced back and forth across the room. It was strewn with several Fallen bodies. Cosmo sat on a Fallen crate and was cleaning his knives. It had been several minutes since Avesk’s last transmission and the two Guardians were beginning to grow antsy waiting for their partner. “Who knows? He is Avesk, after all.” Cosmo replied, examining the knife in the light to make sure it was spotless. “True.” “And what’s that supposed to mean, exactly?” A new voice rang out in the room. Validus turned at the sound of the voice. “Finally!” He threw his hands up in the air as he marched towards Avesk. “What could have possibly taken you so long?” he demanded. “Well, first I had to extinguish the fire.” Avesk said, counting each reason out on his fingers. “Then Barry repaired all the burns and scratches while I repainted the ship.” Validus stared, mouth agape. “Only you.” he shook his head when he finally spoke. “Hey, priorities.” Avesk sniffed disdainfully. “If you two are done,” Cosmo said, stowing his knives and standing to his feet, “we have a job to do.” / “I gotta say,” Avesk said as the team traversed the metal hallways of the Ketch, “the Fallen have no sense of style. It’s just gray, gray, gray, and maybe a little bit of green. Someone needs to open their eyes to color.” “Not everyone can pull off the bright white and blue, Avesk.” Cosmo replied, gesturing to the senior Hunter’s armor. “Still. There are better colors than gray and green.” “You wanna tell them that?” Cosmo asked as the door in front of them opened to reveal a large group of Fallen. The Fallen screeched and rushed towards them. BANG! BANG! BANG! The pack erupted into a shower of golden sparks and ashes. Avesk twirled his Hand Cannon as his armor gave off a golden steam. “I take it back.” Avesk said as he strode across the still smoldering ashes of the Fallen. “Gray does suit them well.” “Shanks on the left.” Validus cautioned. The sound of his voice was followed by that of gunfire. “Never mind,” he said a moment later. “So, Barry.” Avesk said. The Ghost materialized above his Guardian’s shoulder. “What’s up?” the machine asked. “Where are we supposed to be going exactly?” “Um.. I’m not sure exactly.” Barry answered. “That’s real helpful.” “We only have a couple documented missions taking place on Ketches, and each Ketch follows a unique layout. This one is already completely different from the schematics that I’ve studied back at the Tower.” “Thanks for being utterly useless.” Avesk replied. Barry twirled his parts and narrowed his eye. “This coming from the Hunter that fell asleep during his patrol.” “It was one time.” Avesk grumbled. “You were asleep for seven hours!” Barry argued. / The Vandal peered into the scope of his wire rifle. Today would be the day that he would finally prove himself and move up to the rank of captain. As the three intruders entered the large room, he set his sights on the center one in the lead. His fingers squeezed the trigger. A moment later, a super charged shard buzzed from the barrel of the rifle and pierced the helmet of the lead Guardian. "DAMN IT!" Avesk screamed as he collapsed to the ground. A moment later, Barry hovered over his body. Cosmo quickly aimed and fired at the now revealed sniper, the ether screaming from the gaping hole in its head. Validus poured a small amount of Light into Barry, and the Ghost reconstructed the Guardian's body in a flash. "I WAS ONE KILL FROM COMPLETING MY DEATHLESS BOUNTY!" The veteran Guardian raged as Fallen now poured into the room. He activated his Arc Blade and blinked around the room, carving Fallen to pieces in his rage. "It's never a dull moment with Avesk on the team, that's for sure." Validus deadpanned as he reloaded his backup Scout Rifle before jumping into the action himself. He landed in a pack of five Fallen. He snapped the first one's neck, impaled the second on the third's swords, blew the head off of the third, and disintegrated the fourth in a burst of Arc light. The fifth was a Fallen larger than a captain and adorned with a fur cape. "You seem to be important." Validus said as he rammed his forehead into the Baron's. Treksis stumbled back under the blow, but did not fall. "Damn, how hard was Saint-14's head?" Validus wondered aloud as he fired round after round into the Baron's shield. The shield finally shattered under an Arc charged punch. Suddenly, the Baron brought out a small shock dagger and thrust it at a chink in Validus' armor. "Oh, please." Validus said as he slapped the weapon out of the Fallen's hand and grabbed it as it spun in the air. He quickly brought the blade down and slashed it across the Fallen's chest, scoring a large burn across the front of the Baron's armor. As Treksis began to double over, Validus firmly planted his boot on the Fallen's chest and shoved him back. The mumbling of a Servitor echoed across the room. The Baron slowly got to his feet at the sound. One hand was placed on his chest while the other three rose high into the air as the Baron celebrated what was sure to become a victory for them. A purple light appeared above the Baron as a massive Servitor teleported into the room, speaking in garbled beeps and buzzes. The uneven plating on the Servitor twitched as its blue optic settled on the Baron and Titan before it. Validus slowly backed up and raised his Scout Rifle at the abomination. Treksis laughed weakly as the Guardian cowered before his holy Prime. Then the Prime lowered its gaze onto the Fallen Baron. Treksis' laugh turned into a scream as the Servitors' outer casings expanded and streams of white began flowing out of the multiple lacerations on the Fallen's body and into the energy vortex projected by the Prime. As the last bit of Ether fled from the Fallen's crumpling, lifeless corpse, the massive Servitor fixed its gaze on the Titan. Its mangled shell came together with a snap and it uttered a robotic shriek before it opened fire. Blasts of Arc energy rivaling the strength of a Skiff's cannon hurtled towards Validus. The Titan quickly jetted out of the way and launched a rocket at the robot eye, but it teleported out of the way before it the shell could connect.
