Ana is pretty much a token character. Her being asian seems to be just because "eh, why not?" Which is fine when starting a character from scratch, nobody has a problem with Ikora being black because nothing in her past bring into question why she would be black because she doesn't have a backstory. The only problem with Ana is that she actually has an existing backstory from before she was a Guardian. She's a Bray. You know, as in Clovis Bray? Clovis and Bray are some of the whitest names you'll ever hear (but don't sound white when put together for some reason). This is explained as her being adopted, which is fine and can actually bring a lot of depth to a character with the struggles they face from being placed in an entirely new foreign yet intimate environment. Bungie does not do this. They mention that Ana struggles with becoming a Bray in a Lore Tab. And that is it. I guess it might be hard to add any level of depth since she's so much of a side character (that's in Destiny), but it doesn't even seem like that much of an attempt was made. It also doesn't help that the Warmind comic where it's revealed that she's a lesbian or at the very least bisexual is reminiscent of the new age garbage Marvel has been pumping out recently, only further supporting the feeling that she's just a character to pander to the "SJW"s. Do I wish Ana was white? No, her character model is actually quite attractive for how annoying she can be. Do I wish Bungie would add some depth to their characters so this conversation doesn't even have to take place to begin with? I think the answer is quite obvious
.
