Dawnblade Melee abilities need to not activate on non-killing blows (except for maybe swift strike?)

Really digging the new Well of radiance, but i noticed that you have to land a killing blow in order to use the melee. I think its very clunky to not be able to choose when to use it. Say my ability is available but i just want to do a normal melee, you just can't unless you waste it. This was annoying for the solar explosion melee ability(which is pretty weak anyway) on attunement of flame and now on the new attunement for dawnblade which seems to be: Melee ability kills grant Hearthkeeper(reduces cooldowns). EDIT: looks like it grants empowered? Damn that would have been nice. I can't really figure out what "empowered" does sadly. You guys are doing fantastic on these new subclass paths, but i just really wanted to point this out. I really REALLY hate meleeing somthing that should die, only to have it sizzle to death and not count.
