Anyone else not having fun as a solo player?

Anyone else not having as much fun as a single player? I feel like I used to be able to hop in and feel like I accomplished something each time I logged in, but now its feels like im wasting my time. Havent had much luck or motivation to do the raids. I only play solo cause the 10 people or so I could rely on, to play with, gave up on the game. Its probably just me, but was just curious. I really wish they had match making for the content. EDIT 5-17 Amazed at the responses guys! I just wanted to clarify that yes, I understand that I could use LFG or play a different game (which I do) its just that this game isnt as friendly towards the solo player. I used to have 2 groups of people to play with but they all became jilted by the game and quit. Im essentially the last guy holding out for this game still. Haha. The biggest issue right now I have is loot progression, and something to chase. Like a grasp of malok with the perfect role! LOVE heroic strikes feeling Heroic. I just wish there was a carrot to chase there like in D1. Thanks again for all the responses. • I hear you,but I'm having fun. I'm kind of in the limbo point of level advancement. I'm at 350. Not high enough or good enough to do heroic strikes yet - there's no point anyways with the glitch and current loot drops. I've never even seen 5 other members of my clan on at once so I'll likely never do the raid. Not high enough for escalation protocol. I've got Peppermint Patty's scout rifle but it's kind of meh. I only equip it to boost my light level. I change my load out for our local events. I'm cruising around looking for data caches etc in pursuit of the sparrow. I do public events to maybe get another exotic masterwork core to drop so I can grind for that. I do the daily challenges from planet to planet. It will take a while to level up since everything is dropping at 340, but there's stuff to do here and there. I also help out other guardians with missions, etc when I'm asked. It's just a gameplay shift - good or bad, I dunno, but we have to adjust to it.

  • Just bought D2 but sounds like things have reverted back to D1 setup for solo players. I joined a clan this time and will see how that works out as I tend to hop on only for an hour or two, here or there. I know I don't have the play time for raids. See what happens when I get to the 340 soft cap. I'm also playing Ghost Recon Wildlands, Farcry 5, Witcher 3 DLC plus RDR2 and Last of Us 2 are on the radar. Bungie still hasn't figured out who it wants to catter to, average players (big bucks) or hardcore crowd. And for a loot based game, how to keep players interested in going for that loot. The Division had the same issue. They didn't know who to catter to also. Learned my lesson there not to buy season passes any more. Not worth the $5 savings.

  • 1. Meet new people to play with 2. It's a predominantly online experience. Why you feel the way you do makes sense. You were given a tool chest but you only care to hammer things... eventually you will run out of nails. 3. There is a rather solid solo progression. I advise you try playing 3 different characters. This will provide you with enough content. 4. Games are about systems and mechanics. Play the game for what it is and don't be upset if it's not what YOU want. 5. There are other games out there that provide a strong solo experience. Support the industry at large and play those games and stop trying to change this one, please.

You could also lose the fear of talking to other adult strangers that still play the game. It’s a lot more fun playing it with others. I suggest that or to abandon the game. Solo players never had the real fun in destiny, it’s not even possible to appreciate the entire game if you’re a solo player.

      • Move on then. This isn't being rude, if you think it is look at yourself closely. I'd say over half the time I'm solo. I enjoy the game. For whatever reason you feel this way simply move on since you either haven't or can't find a way to enjoy the game.

It goes something like this. If you and your friends are playing together, then you and your friends are more likely to purchase the next DLC, buy shit from Eververse together, pre-order the next trash title. I don't know if there is a name for it, but its basically turning peer pressure, the lack of self decision making, and the fear of being left out of the herd into a business model. In today's society where people can't seem to function without Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, and other "social" platforms, its a model that unfortunately is highly effective and not just in business. We see it in everything, including politics.

      • My main issue is playing crucible as a solo players. It’s horrible going up against a full fire team.

      • You’re not the only one. Raids in D2 are just not fun and the ppl I played with are long gone so raiding with randoms is a straight up NO. Plus I hate ppl anyway. Apparently Bungie is prejudice towards solo players. The only “endgame” event that solo players can join is 370 light which mostly requires raids to achieve. For crying out loud. I feel like no one is saying the obvious so I’m going to. The MAIN reason I play D2 as a solo player is the -blam!-ing patrol areas. I LOVE the fact that multiple players converge in a shared world and team up to kill enemies. I don’t have talk with them (although the option SHOULD be there) but they are there. Just that premise alone is something unique, fun, easy, and seamless. BUNGI should be growing on this. Add more events, more SHARED things to do in these areas where things happen randomly and sporadically and players can choose to join by flying in with there sparrow or mocking us from a far. This right here is why I play. Raids? Where I have to FIND my own team through outside resources? Get the -blam!- outta here. Massive Patrol Events. They can save the destiny franchise. My humble and probably silly opinion.

        • Feels like they are really ramming the team activities down peoples throats in the hopes of getting their player numbers up or to get people to buy the game and DLC. And the solo players at getting fuk'd. CD Projeck Red needs to make a Destiny style shooter to shake up Bungie. Anthem sure as shit won't do it and will probably be a bigger shitshow than Destiny is.

        • 50/50. My brother got the dlc months ago and forgot so I've been playing the dlcs for a few weeks, my clan doesn't play, friends quit ages ago, and raids aren't all that interesting to me with the new changes.....so Im playing solo.

        • In PvP, I feel like solo queueing has been consistently pitting me against 4 stacks, but really bad 4-stacks. Same deal on the other side, when running stacked we play solos. But my clan mates are all pretty good so when we run together, we often face streamers and Top 500 players who are solo.

        • Very grindy but not completely unbearable. I’m being forced to play solo because I got banned from Xbox communications for a week so NFs and such are virtually impossible. Hopefully I can get some shite done with the clan next week.

Yeah, they throttled progression in every single way to Pat out there game till the next DLC. That pretty much made it that you have to raid or do strikes if you want to level up. There's really no alternative aside from a couple of milestones that you can whip out in an hour or two. My best suggestion is to try the 100io website. You can go there and join several groups and you can pre schedule raid times, strikes Etc and that will give you a chance to raid with some more consistency and not have to depend on Randy's for last-minute activities

        • About the only thing you're locked out of as a solo is the raids unless you lfg it. I'm in an active clan but I've done all the milestones solo.

        • I agree. I've hung in with this game so far, but it is extremely disheartening to have only milestones to rely on for players who don't raid or do trials. I would like to try escalation and heroic strikes but I've yet to get to the recommended power level. At what point is this game going to be about loot? It seems like too much emphasis is put on power level. Shouldn't it be more like action rpgs where getting to max level is quick, and then you grind out loot to do harder activities and to make your character stand out? As it stands right now I can't even really grind, just do what few milestones I can, hope for the best, and then wait for next week.

Bungie fixed D1 with better infusion, faction packages, exotics, bounty rewards, strike specific loot, and other endgame gear that solo players to use for progression. It was all guaranteed to be above our light level. It's pretty sad that none of these things made it into D2, and the current system is worse than D1 was before the fix. All the D1 loot, vendor, weapon roll, armor perk, stat adjustment, faction package, infusion, exotics, strike specific loot, and bounty reward systems need to be in D2. Why was it impossible for them to just copy/paste these things into D2 during development?
