Goodbye God. As a member of offtopic's dysfunctional and crazy family you'll be missed, and as the world's most loving father and greatest friend you will be remembered. You were always there for a quick joke, or something new to think about. You are and will always be a great friend and a backbone to offtopic. When you make it to heaven, can you give James my regards? If you somehow wind up in hell due to some error in the great book of judgement, can you make sure my bed is warm down there? If not I'll never stop telling you jokes in the afterlife, and that's worse than any punishment Satan can think of!😜 Goodbye, my great friend.

I thought it was a fitting video. Kinda like Roosterteeth, we’re a “crazy dysfunctional family” to quote Xombiexronad, but we are a family. I had almost forgotten that I’d posted this.

I wanted to include this video with my post, but I thought it was too much like giving up hope and just saying, "Hey, you are dead and will be remembered." I am still hoping that the doctors were idiots and he pulls through. https://youtu.be/1HUr9UKAxiY

That is a very good and sad song. You are right, the doctors could be wrong.

I love that song, it was a tribute to my favorite guitarist, Dimebag Darrell. Dime was just one hell of a nice guy and he was taken from the metal world way too soon.
-
What happened to him?

There was this guy who was discharged from the military for being nucking futs and he was pissed that Pantera split up, so he decided that Vinnie Paul and his brother Dime where the cause of the split. He decided that he had to kill them, so he went to a venue in Ohio where their new band, Damage Plan, was playing and tried to kill them. The asshole managed to kill Dime and a couple of Roadies, if I remember correctly, before a badass cop nailed him point blank with a shotgun and stopped his attack. Vinnie was saved by a roadie that tackled him off his drum kit, but he still had to watch his brother and best friend get gunned down by that flaming asshat. https://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/behind-the-murder-of-dimebag-darrell-20041230 This was the first article I found. Let me know it the link doesn't work.

That's terrible! I can't imagine watching my brother and my best friend dying in front of me, and I hope I never have too.
-
No kidding! The fans keep begging for a Pantera reunion and Zakk Wylde has said he would be honored to fill Dime's shoes, since they were good friends, but Vinnie Paul has no wish to. I do not think that people realize how hard that would be on him. He is going to hear someone playing the music and he will be in the zone, look over expecting to see his bro and see someone else and it will just crush him, I think.

Yeah. Losing a loved one, especially one that close, is very difficult, and the moments were you're in the zone and expect them to be there are heartbreaking to realize that they aren't. You carry your loved ones everywhere you go, but watching your own brother die before you, I bet it keeps him up at night.
