She turned to the goat-looking creature, and simply looked at it. Her expression was unreadable behind the mask she’d been given, and she did not speak, though at the time, the doctor creature would not have known that she was mute. After a moment of awkwardly standing there and looking at the goat, she helped Alexandria pick up her fallen papers.

After a minute of awkward silence, Alpha asked "Can you hear me?" With her free hand she used sign language to telegraph the same thing, unsure if she was mute or dead, or both.
-
The woman nodded back, and with her rudimentary understanding of sign language, she responded. I can hear. Lost tongue.
-
Alpha seemed surprised, but not much. "Oh.... Well...there are procedures to rectify that" She explained as she finished gathering her things

I’m good. The speed at which she signed belayed a distrust from the woman towards the goat doctor.
-
"look...I'm not going to hurt you" She said, sighing "It's okay....we treat everyone that doesn't go to the dojo clinic, so I doubt if anything or anyone is looking for you they will." Alpha had been on the run before, so she knew the signs

I’m fine. She repeated again. There was hesitation, however. She did wish to speak again, but she wasn’t so sure she deserved it. Perhaps a bit of self-punishment for what she’d done, her new thought of atonement, something Alpha would understand if the armored woman explained.

"You're not fine. Give me a reason why you shouldn't have the procedure done"

She said nothing more, turning away from the goat creature. This was not the time and the place. She wasn’t quite comfortable yet.
-
"Look....why don't you come with me? I can give you a free check up and make sure you're at least healthy. You look like you could at least need that much."
-
I have already been seen. She signed, though she knew she probably needed a second check-up as to her condition. Out of both a mild fear and a genuine distrust brought on by her experiences, she was not so willing.
