Help A Brother Out OffTopic:

Hey everyone. I've decided to make more of an effort to look after myself as of late, but could do with some advice regarding certain aspects of how I should go about it. I'm 19 now, which supposedly makes me an adult, and that means I don't have an excuse for not looking after myself anymore. But anyway, here are the questions: In regards to dieting, can any of you recommend strategies that are or have been effective for you? I looked it up briefly and some sites were recommending that all you need to do is have smaller portions or calorie count, whilst others were recommending things like Paleo and other dietary plans. As for exercise, I'd like recommendations for how I should go about starting that as well. I'm not morbidly obese or anything, but I am a bit overweight. I want to get in shape, but I'm not concerned about getting super ripped or anything. The last time I exercised properly was a few months ago, and I did a circuit routine three times a week. Another question I have regarding exercise is are there any ways to help deal with the post-workout aches? I remember after the first time I tried exercising a few months ago my body was so sore the morning after that moving anywhere was super painful and excerise was basically impossible for the rest of the week. I know people say that you should warm up and warm down properly, but I don't really know how to do that. I've also experimented with Epsom Salt baths, which were somewhat effective, but not very practical. And finally, I'd love to hear any general tips about sticking to this whole thing. I've thought of a couple ideas myself, like making a chart to track progress or keeping a diary, but any other ideas would be appreciated. And that's pretty much everything I can think of right now. I'm posting this quite late at night where I am, so I probably won't respond to any replies for another few hours.
Inb4 "Bad idea coming to OffTopic for advice." Fair point, but I know not everyone here is a fat, socially inept neckbeard.
