Shi Canyon. A desolate and barren land of empty waterbags and broken dreams to many, but a promising land of success for those who know how to make it work out. Not many frontiersmen remain on the planet of Tatakai, especially with Dojoville, Lumen Solis, and Khalosh being such big locations, but there were a good number of pioneers in the world to settle in the dusty ditch. And that was exactly what a certain person was looking for.
Posters had gone up months ago, promising safety and land for all people who went there. The Shi Canyon, an oasis in the desert - But not the inner parts of the canyon, rather the top rim of the immesurably high walls. That one area, far enough that an earthquake wouldn't send the whole settlement over and into the canyon but close enough to be on the territory, was advertised as a potential option for people wishing to live their lives. At first those who came were the poor and the criminals of society, but after a certain beneficiary paid for their schooling in medical, electrical, engineering, and many other fields? Plenty of others came and signed on to settle.
And now it was the hour at hand for these people to make a home. The Marshal had purchased enough transport trucks to carry over a village worth of equipment, and he had driven them in a trek out of Dojoville and into the land of promises and life. A paving crew followed behind and made a road behind the caravan, and soon enough they had managed to get to the lip of the canyon closest to Dojoville.
From that came the building. Smaller structures came at first but everyone pitched in, and a few shacks of wood were erected. Those who built the wood houses got first shift of sleeping, and those who didn't work yet got to doing it. It took a good few weeks, but soon there were enough ranches around the place, enough community buildings to form a city. And thus, Marshal's Rest was created. It wasn't named by the people or anything, instead JT took the name and forced the people to run with it.
Marshal's Rest, Shi Canyon // Ranch, 10km from the city // "Marshal JT"
"...Now, why the fûck did I do it? Simple. I was bored and needed something to do. So, why not make a place of redemption?" JT asked himself, staring in the mirror of his bathroom. His face was half covered in a blue shaving gel and he kept a straight razor in his right hand, staring himself down in the reflection with a grin on his face. He got to cutting the beard after - Not enough to lose all his hair, but enough to make him look noticeably cleaner and smooth shaven.
The cowboy left the washroom and went over to the porch of the ranch. As far as the eye could see, there was farmland. Fertile soil and water had been imported from Dojoville and purchased by him for each house, and farms of wheat, corn, and plenty of other foods had been set. JT had looked to the wheat field and grinned, taking a seat on the rocking chair in the corner of the wooden porch. He wasn't even wearing pants this time, but it didn't matter to him - He wasn't expecting guests, so he just kept a towel on and a shotgun on his lap as he stared out across the wheat field.
Open.
Y'all write bar posts when you're bored, but JT set up a city. Feel free to just go and buy some property for free, speak to him, do whatever.
After the call had been placed, Penny would show not long after, a few hours to be exact. Only this time the android carried a lever action on her back, stored in a long holster, a mag lock, which kept it secure. It would be a bit before JT could make sense of it, questions would need to be asked. Given she was so into life, why would she have a rifle? Yet he did give her a revolver, as well as a sword.
-
JT already had ideas as to why she kept the guns, though he figured it would be best to ask anyways. He sat on the porch and looked over at her as she approached. "Penny, where'd you get the gun?"
-
Her face turned red then, as she stammered a bit. "I-eh, well." She let out a sigh then. "Well, since the first person I was around was you, you kind of imprinted on me. In other words, I have a slight wonder and obsession with the old west. And apparently an abrasive side I didn't know of."
-
"So you're an ásshole with a John Wayne love too? Thank god that's all you inherited."
-
"Its like a baby, they imprint on whatever their first experiences are. Mine was you, and so now, I inherited that stuff. As much as I find life interesting, its opposed by the traits I share with you." She frowned, gesturing to the weapon then. "That's an impulse buy, because of the reasons I just stated. Anyways, what did you need?"
-
"First of all, -blam!- you. My traits ain't that bad." "Second of all, I need you to build some shit."
-
"I build things?" She sounded confused, most likely not remembering what she originally was.
-
"Yeah. Before you were sentient I owned you as a building machine, and I need your help with building some shit."
-
She cringed then, an odd sight with her flawless appearance. "Slavery? Technically not. But I don't recall doing any of that. Most likely its all still buried in my systems."
-
"And I couldn't give less of a shit. I just need you to help me, from one friend to another."
-
"If that is how you talk to a friend. What and who needs things built? I'll see if I can access or reactivate the systems I have, then see too getting any resources."
-
"Firstly, it is how i talk to a friend. If you weren't a friend, I'd either fight you or try to -blam!- you. Secondly, we need to build a bunker. Nothing too fancy."
-
"Please don't fist android girls, all I will say." She let out a sigh again then, irritated and a bit disturbed. "Where at? I'll see if anyone else needs construction done while I'm at it."
-
"Firstly, too late. Secondly, I'll show you."
Mind if we skip the actual building?
-
She cringed even more then, shaking her head.
All the building or just the bunker?
-
All. I don't know the first thing about construction.
-
Well I meant Rose's stuff, whatever JT needed, and anything else, but ok
Once the construction was done, and funds where paid and money was transferred, Penny groaned as she was happy it was finally finished. She didn't mind working, yet still, she didn't exactly agree with it. Either way, she went to find JT.
-
JT had been on the other side of the building, finishing up his parts.
Yeah, they could've built that too.
-
She sought him out, strapping the holster back to her body and placing the rifle onto it, as she tracked him down. "Done with it all, money has been transferred, anyone who wanted work done got it. Had my own little house constructed, some woman named Rose wanted an underground complex."
-
"Works by me," JT said, looking over to Penny. "Thank you, by the way. How can I pay you back?"
-
"Don't really think I need much actually." She shrugged, conflicted on the matter.
-
"Alrighty. Well if you want anything just tell me."
-
She stayed silent for a bit, then responded. "Show me how to rope?"
-
"Whatnow? Penny I ain't a ra- Please tell me you said rope. I swear to Christ I will turn you into scrap metal otherwise."
-
She rolled her eyes then, slightly disappointed now. "Yes I said rope. And damn, with how you are I wouldn't be surprised."
