Shila gave a thumbs up, writing in the notebook before showing it to Sapphire, a smile upon her face. “I got in around half an hour ago. Mostly just practice my fighting by replicating my old home. Guessing you’re here for the same reason?” It said on the book.

*She reached the woman and read what she had written. Now that she was closer, she could see that Sapphire’s eyes were slate colored and that the skin— fur she showed seemed to have quite a few scars of varying sizes.* *She seemed to debate her own actions before awkwardly sitting down in the grass, her body not quite turned toward the woman. She sat up straight, her posture stiff.* I don’t run simulations of my home. I’m not going back. I practice fighting for this world. I’ve tried practicing with actual people, but they left before we were even done talking. *Her tone had changed now. Though she hadn’t said much before, it sounded much more natural than now. She spoke like someone who shouldn’t have joined the improv club.*

  • Shila flipped a page and wrote something else in her notebook, before turning it to Sapphire. “My home was in the middle of a civil war. They sent me away so that they could make sure I wasn’t killed. Along with most other women. Minus a few, of course. I’ve been here ever since. Perhaps maybe this would be my new home.” She says on the paper, resting upon the grass. Shila has thought about for a moment, before writing something else down. “And I can help in battling you. As a sparring partner.”

This planet isn’t a bad place to live. I wasn’t sent here, though. I was ditched by accident. Oh, and most here call me Sapphire. *The only eye contact she made was the occasional glance at the woman’s face while she spoke. Instead, Sapphire mainly kept her eyes pinned on the horizon.* And, we could spar. I am stronger than you might think, though.

  • Shila wrote something else down. “Well, I’m sorry then for bringing that up. Just...my home was mostly full of cherry blossoms and a lot of good people...then those mercenaries pushed us out, and took our stuff to sell on the Black Market. Some of them...even children.” Was Shila’s Response, sighing. “As for dueling, just give a few moments to rest and I’ll fight you?” Was alps on the note.

*She nodded understandingly.* I used to be a member of the navy. We used to prevent things like that... Even here I guess I still protect others. I found my adopted daughter hiding after her older brother who was taking care of her had been murdered. *She paused, cutting the flow to another sentence. She had been talking much more naturally again, they were topics she seemed to want to share, but not with a stranger like the one she was sitting with.* You never told me your name.

  • She wrote down a single word...then added a couple more, handing it back to Sapphire. “Shila. And yours?”

Shila isn’t a bad name. Like I said before, most call me Sapphire. My real name is Sphan’Iri, though. *She made eye contact with Shila this time, seemingly pleased that someone had asked about her real name.*

  • “Such an interesting name.” Shila would write down, showing Sapphire. “I don’t think I’ve ever heard of that name before. Native to where you came from?” She asked via notebook.

*She nodded, smiling a little.* Back home we all have two part first names. The first part is the meaning and the second part is the gender. Most people here thought Sphan’Iri was too long or weird though. A friend came up with Sapphire as a nickname.

  • “Huh...an...interesting idea. My name was given to me by my father; his wife had a similar name to me... Rishila. He simply wanted to make me ‘unique’, in terms of a name, so she simply took off the first two letters. Boom, Shila is born.” She had told Sapphire, chuckling a little bit at when her father told her all that.

  • Names are often passed down in a similar way back home. The first part is passed on while she second is changed. *She thought for a couple of seconds before continuing.* Your father sounds like he was nice. Nicer than mine, at least.

  • Shila sighed, writing something down. “My father was a war general during a war that’s going on at home. I was sent off so he could still have some form of legacy while his forces fought off the enemy at home.”

  • My father never wanted a legacy... But he got one. *Her ears flattened as she spoke.*

  • Shila simply dropped the subject, not wanting it to get...well, worse for Sapphire. Instead, Shila moved to a lighter subject; weapons. “What weapons do you use?” She had written, before she showed off her saber, which was mostly a modernized kitana, only a little shorter.

  • That’s a nice blade, it looks quite deadly. I haven’t brought my armor, but the computer has it in it’s database. Simulation, spawn object: armor, Sapphire, gauntlets 02. *Two gauntlets formed in front of her. They had been painted a dark purple and looked like they belonged to some sort of powered armor. Sapphire put them on and stood up.* I fight wearing an exo-suit, and my strength and fists are usually enough. If the need arises, though, they can do this. *A blade made of blue energy extended from one, while a riot shield made of the same energy formed on the other. The riot shield then disappeared and she lifted her hand to give Shila a better look at the claws which suddenly sprung from the gauntlet’s fingertips.*

  • She was...well, surprised to say the very least. As far as she knew, the advanced tech Sapphire had seemed almost minuscule in comparison to her own technology...at least as far as she saw right now. “As for me, this sword and any various guns I might’ve picked up are my weapons. I had left my armor over at my ship, nearby. A friend of mine helped upgrade it the past few weeks, so I don’t know when I’ll get it back. Mostly allows me to be nimble and all, more stealthy and agile.”

  • My armor does as well. It makes up for what it lacks in armaments with speed, durability and strength. It’s not as flashy as some other suits, but it can compete. *She shrugged as she said this.* Do you have your own set of armor saved?

  • “Hold on...” She says. “Simulation, activate armor; Shila 001, Pre-SB armor.” She yells out, forming up her armor. It seemed to contain some sort of metal wrapped around her body, managing to almost look like a metal layer of skin...only in that it wasn’t MGS bad in terms of how the armor looked. “It’s mostly just armor. Nimble, Light, helps me with movement. Nothing more nothing less.”

  • *She nods.* It looks useful, but not the most intimidating. *She spawned in the rest of her armor, assorted pieces appearing in front of her. Each time she picked a piece up, it seemingly recognized her and split open.* *She managed to put the entire suit on in less than ten seconds. When she put on the helmet, her entire suit seemed to seal itself with a hiss and a near silent whirr began to emanate from a protrusion on her back with two hinged nozzles.* *The armor added no more of an inch to her overall size and did appear rather intimidating. The two circular lenses on the helmet glowed strangely. The front was faceless and without emotion.*

  • Shila put on her helmet, the piece and faceplates snapping in. “Armor dosen’t have to be intimidating to be good armor. Kinda like weapons; long as it works, you have yourself something to defend yourself with.” She tells Sapphire, pulling out her sword from its sheath.

  • Yes, but sometimes if you’re scary enough you don’t need to use weapons. *She said, the glowing blue lenses trained on Shila.* An old companion taught me that.

  • “And an old friend back home once told me that intimidating armor Dosen’t matter as long as you’re good in that armor.” She says, training her own eyes on Sapphire.

  • *She nodded.* I was and still am good at using my armor. The difference is that my companion disagreed with relying on lethal force. There are those who truly deserved it, but there were those who only followed orders. Appearance alone doesn’t make armor intimidating enough, though. Skill does too.

  • “I can agree with you on that. Though, killing really depends on the type of person. While I’d admit, I’ve killed nerds for a friend of mine here or there, I’d like to mostly avoid death. Least as far as I know.” She says, circling around Sapphire.

  • *She watched as Shila circled her, lowering herself a little.* Well, my days of killing are pretty much over. That is, unless someone really bad comes around. That’s why I like intimidating armor, it might discourage someone planning on facing me.
