Cain quickly dove to the right, his bow outstretched as he did so. The daggers flew and cut across the string, making the bow collapse with a ”thud!” In Cain’s Hand. Feeling the breakage, Cain tossed the bow aside as he swiftly drew his spear off his back, planting his feet in the ground firmly.

  • As Cain took to drawing his spear, his foe would seemingly draw another weapon, but this time outstretching his hand above his masked head: the fabric of space, even in the miasma that coated Khalosh, seemed to break as the being would draw a flaming claymore: forty-eight inches long, seemingly an absurd weapon to use in such a scenario. Yet he didn't mind, as the flames were then extinguished as if obeying his will, as he rested the weapon against his shoulder and approached.

  • Off out by the man’s magic, Cain furrowed his bro, but it would take more then that to deter him. This man may have had a claymore now, bud Cain still had reach. He held his spear in both his hands, before suddenly dashing forwards. He then slid across the gravelly rooftop, and pointed his spear arm(right arm) at the figure. The shaft of the spear slid through Cain’s hand, darting directly towards he man’s chest as Cain was ready to grip his spear again as soon as he found purchase.

  • The man would maneuver into the range of combat, maintaining a surprising agility, even with such a mighty blade kept against his shoulder. He would suddenly strafe to the left, spinning his body around in an odd fashion of combat, suddenly swinging the greatsword at Cain's spear as it was thrusted forwards. If Cain didn't withdraw, he might face some trouble.

  • However, Cain wouldn’t have too. With such a telegraphed attack, Cain would easily have enough time to dash forward, grasping the neck of his spear by grasping at the butt with his left hand and sliding his hand forward in the blink of an eye. As the claymore made its motion, Cain would raise his legendarily forged spear up enough to meet the claymore, closer to the left side of the spear(where his left hand would be)having steel meet in a clash of foes. Then, Cain would whisper something in his mind as soon as it would meet, to follow through with a sequence that had helped him in combat so many times before with swordsmen. ”Check.” As the steel would clash, he would take advantage of the force generated from the claymore striking the left side of his spear, halting it as predicted. He immediately followed trough by swinging the right side of the spear forward, so that the dragon head would face the centre of his opponents mass. Then, he would thrust forward.

  • The spearhead would push through whatever light plating was covering the man's chest, his body arching forwards as the head of the weapon was pushed through his solar plexus. A spurt of blood escaped the new wound, dripping past the spear's tip. The masked individual looked up at Cain, dropping the claymore with a ruckus of a clatter. "...Damn.. I thought the stupid spin would throw you off, too bad I underestimated." The cloaked being would begin to push himself off of the spearhead, only to fall against the ground and kick a little. Yet he was able to draw a dagger from his rapidly bleeding jacket, one final gurgle leaving his masked voice. "...You have no idea of what will happen.. if you win." In his last moments, the man would press the blade against his chest, as if it was one final salute, a puddle of blood now forming underneath his body. He had gone still.

  • Cain looked down at the body, standing straight and still. The cold winds of winter cut through his snowy hair as his ice blue eyes locked with the now lifeless soldiers. He would stab his weapon into the ground, before kneeling down to the man. He raised his hand to his eye lids, and gently lowered them down, so that they would be closed. With that, Cain stood up, grasping his spear. And with his grip, a sense of doubt coursed through his system. “What did he mean?” He spoke to himself. “What...will happen? The commander...she...she wouldn’t be lying to us, would she?” He continued to ask. “Alex would know...he was always so good at reading people. My little brother....” Cain would look down solemnly at his feet, shaking his head then to get it out of his system. He had orders, and he had to see them through. But, he would have to capture one of the soldiers alive now if possible, and interrogate them himself. Cain’s loyalty came at a price, and that price now was the betterment of Tatakai, no matter the cost. And if Freya was not there to aid him in his quest of redemption.... She would die. He tore his spear from the ground, before sprinting down the buildings stair well and making his way out into the streets. It seemed that without the dark archers help, his men were able to eliminate the remaining forces in the area. He would look to them, and they to him. “Sorry I had to leave you.” Cain apologized. “I couldn’t allow the archer to fire upon us from above.”

  • The men would seemingly stand their ground, as the gates had been busted open mere seconds after the archer's death. Soldiers clad in purple stormed Khalosh, driving out the Tribune invaders as the Trayven flag, that beaming golden lion amongst a sea of violet, wavered high from the buildings of the city. Perhaps finding Freya would be for the best, or finding her elder sister. If something was going on.. it was one or the other. Freya was likely upon the cleared battlefield, soon to reach the opened gates of the city. Isabella, meanwhile, was probably at the base camp that was within the forest.
D E C I S I O NS >Confront Freya head-on. >Confront Isabella, Freya's sister.
Cain had heard of Isabella, but he had not met her yet. It would be strange to confront her on an issue like this. Freya would be an easier time for him but... He wouldn’t want to believe what either of them had to say. He needed a different source. A tribune soldier. “Men, assist in the occupation of the gate, consider our mission a success. I’ll find any stragglers and ensure they cannot succeed in an ambush.” Cain would tell his men, this was his...first lie. Or more like a half truth. That said his constantly calm dialect remained unwavering as he spoke.
third option if possible. Find a tribune soldier
• "Yes sir," One would respond, proceeding onwards with his duty as the remaining troops would follow, leaving Cain to his scouting. To save time.. Cain wouldn't find too many Tribune soldiers that weren't already dead or being drug into Trayven custody. Men and women alike, fallen to the golden lions. The stench of the dead lingered throughout the city. And yet.. Cain would catch a faint glimmer of white, turning into an alleyway.
You can capture in one post, FYI. Just to save time, lol.
• Cain furrowed his brow before sprinting after the white glimmering figure. He would dash towards him, before grasping and taking hold of his shoulder. “Wait, you!” He yelled upon taking hold.

  • "M-Mercy, sir!" The cloaked being would yell out - he was a cleric for the Tribune's cause, a field medic judging from his bloodied robes, tired demeanor, and lack of melee weaponry. It was as if he expected to be slain.

  • “You have it!” Cain would immediately respond as be pinned the man against the ally wall. It was...an oddly forceful answer. But Cain said it angrily, even though it wasn’t all that intimidating a statement. “I am...confused.” He admitted to the cleric.

"...Confused?" The cleric would fight back shortly, before soon realizing that he couldn't break free from Cain's grasp. He would grip onto Cain's hand as if still trying to pry him off, sighing as his breathing turned shaky.

“...what does your cause stand for?” Cain would ask him. “I am from the Dojo, and Freya has told us your people aim to take over Tatakai and slaughter us. However...after confronting your men...and hearing what they have to say... I have decided I need to hear a different side of the story. Your side of the story.”

  • "Take over...? Slaughter? We don't want to take over this world.. we wish to drive back the Trayvens. They conquered the world.. that terrible golden king Armillion rendered his foes into ash.. Even then, our side has sinned in the past.. but we are beyond such things, at least now.. looking upon Khalosh, could you say the same of Trayve?" The cleric questioned. "...Whatever your commander may tell you.. she must have her reasons. But.. but beware the king, and beware his hounds - they come in many shapes and forms, only to dispense his terrible will.."

  • “What do you mean you have come to drive them back? Have you not succeeded in taking over...your...world?” Cain would say, referring to their alternate Tatakai. “And if not...why are you here? If the travyens took over your Tatakai, why would you be here fighting for ours?”

"The Trayvens can't be stopped there, not in our world - the king has ensured that much. This realm.. it has a chance to push them back, and to keep them at bay until we can take the offensive.. The Dojo was perceived as an enemy.. spies proved their involvement with the merciless Trayvens. If you could convince the Dojo to fight back.."

  • Cain ran this all through his head. It was...a lot. A ridiculous amount actually. If he was fighting for the wrong side, then he had killed in cold blood...again. If not, then the man in front of him was trying to manipulate him. But what if Freya did the same...? He could very well have been being played by both sides. Both for their personal gain. They both had their truths, but both had their lies as well. The middle ground.... Would be impossible. At least...as of now. He would need Lilly....that much was for sure. But if he would be able to do it... Maybe he could get to the bottom of it. He would let go of the man then, patting his clothes where he had gripped his collar. Cain would give the man an friendly smile. “My sister...she too is a healer.”

  • Cain would nod to the man as well. “Go in peace, Cleric.” He would say in farewell, before leaving the alleyway and making his way to the road. He had to find Freya now, and looked around for the woman he had called his commander.

  • Freya would be found, at.. a row, or rather a mound at this rate, of the fallen, body bags being supplied as the dead were being carried out. Freya stood there, staring down at the loss of life, even supporting the bagging efforts. She seemed to be focusing on something else.

  • This wouldn’t bother Cain, as the man sheathed his weapon but walked with heavy feet towards Freya. He approached her, his looming presence giving away his position as he neared.

  • "...They never found him." Freya spoke up when Cain drew close. She was referring to Arthur, it seemed. "Hundreds dead, for retaking a free city. A prince still lost to the enemy's grasp, and the enemy still present in Tatakai. I trust that you handled yourself well?"

  • "Go ahead." Freya responded, now facing him. She was pale, those light orange eyes filled with a depth of confusion, yet still pumping with the experiences of the front lines. The eyes of a fighter, after battle.
