Chapter Four
Open to the vanguard.
On The Front Lines The City of Khalosh, 11:21 PM Silence. The Trayven host, accompanied by both the warriors of the Dojo and the Valkyries, had set up groups for their vanguard in order to meet and cluster upon the front line - they would join in humble groups, shrouded by the deep darkness of night and the foliage that grew over their shadows. In the distance, the first members of the charge would see Khalosh, or.. something of the sort. It's walls had been refurbished, a wooden-and-stone gateway now blocking the one entrance into the city. Surrounding the city and encasing it within it's shell was a deep, light blue fog, whisking throughout the skies and air as the city itself was eerie silent.. The only way to defeat the larger force, without starving them out, was a literal surprise charge and a lot of dead captains and lieutenants on the Tribune's half of the battle. Then, the siege horn would ring. A deep, booming thing, as those patrols and Tribune archers whom would stand upon the wall walk would suddenly draw their eyes and bows towards the outside of Khalosh. From there - the vanguard would charge out. The vanguard would be accompanied by a full-on wall of scutum-wielding troops, charging towards the city in a clustered row. A warning horn would breeze throughout Khalosh, bells ringing throughout the city as civilians, soldiers, and mercenaries alike either retreated from the impeding siege, or would head towards it. The iron doors of Khalosh would creak open only for a moment, as a welcoming party of Tribune troops would storm towards the assaulting vanguard. And yet, behind the vanguard..
For the assault members and vanguard in total.
"FOR THE GOLDEN LION!" Freya's battlecry would ring across the impeding chaos, as the armies would make their way towards the walls of Khalosh. Those whom would arrive first would have to assist the vanguard and manage to push forwards, for far behind them, a battering ram had begun progress throughout the road of the forest. The idea was to use such a siege as a distraction - and yet, be capable of eliminating the Tribune's efforts as well.
For the assassins.
"...She's a fuсking idiot. Still my sister." Isabella would murmur, as she had lead those whom wouldn't be attacking throughout a rather.. different area: one of the few recovered tunnel networks that was both kept hidden from the Tribune's scrying eyes, and one that hadn't collapsed after so much time. Such a tunnel was apparently utilized by a mafia boss, according to the information gathered by Natalie, when the first attack upon Khalosh had seemed to be in the works yet kept secret. Isabella would finally bring the assassins up a ladder and into what was an abandoned building. The sounds of charging troops and yells were in the distance, albeit not close to the building. "Could've used this place, Tribs. Literally gave up on the tunnel and building, oh well." Isabella whispered, as she then turned back to her small group of mercenaries, murderers, and generally untrustworthy people. "Alright.. captains, lieutenants, commandos, majors - whatever's out there, maybe their damn general is - point is, we need you guys to kill 'em off. These Tribune asshats will scatter afterwards.. they're probably wearing white and gold, so they'll be easy to recognize. Y'all good, or what? You need a quick bathroom break, now's the time. I'm heading down and joining the assault.. even though that fuсking walk through the tunnel is tiring as hell."

  • This time, Alric would hit, the blade striking his right leg and slicing throughout the light leather plating, blood streaking through the cut armor. The knight would grunt in pain, bringing his sword back and thrusting the pommel into Alric's face, alongside pushing himself forward in order to slam his physical form into Alric.

  • The pommel of the blade slammed into his nose, which instantly started bleeding. He took a staggering step backwards, and then the knight slammed into him. The orange layer that shielded Alric had the effect similar to an explosion, simply without the explosive elements. Once the shield shattered, it made the sound of a boom, exploding outward and working as something to push the knight away from Alric. Without causing any harm, of course. Merely a force push, if the writer is concerned.

  • Indeed, the knight's heavy armor wouldn't help him against the wrath of forceful attacks, as he would then skid backwards. Yet the warrior would keep his grip upon the weapon in his hands, as he continued to face off against Alric. Silence. Eerie, terrible silence. He was waiting for the Witcher's move.

  • Alric poised himself into a defensive stance, standing strong and tall... As much as he could at least. He made a quick hand gesture, a small purplish circle forming around himself and the knight. It was five meters in diameter and went around the two of them, them standing in the center. The knight felt slower than he had before, as if the circle was effecting his speed.

  • The knight would grunt in a distasteful manner, as he would soon realize that he couldn't move as agile as he had done previously. Such a change had made the knight holster his sword over his back, drawing a knife.

  • Realizing he had the advantage of a longer blade, Alric moved around in the circle and sent jabs at the knight. Mostly, these jabs were meant to keep the knight himself back, more then to do any actual damage. Was Alric expecting outside help?

  • The knight would begin to seemingly counter, using the dagger yet and his left hand, guarded by a gauntlet, to block the jabs while he would back away. He was testing if he would be capable of escaping this dome-like structure of magic.. The door to the fortress would then clatter, as if slammed against by a battering ram. A booming yell would be heard, before it was slammed once more - the battle was coming to a close.

  • The dome, as the knight would realize, was not exactly stable. If he were perhaps... Walk out of the circle itself, it might lighten the sudden slowness he felt. With the knight most likely distracted looking for a way out, Alric spun past and slashed at knights legs once more.

  • The slash was able to wound the knight, as he would tumble and grunt in searing pain, the blade cutting through the less armored left leg of the man. His calf had begun to bleed as he backed out of the dome, his breathing quiet.

  • The Bloody Witcher went after the knight, keeping up a strong offensive. He hacked away at the knight, slashing at his hands and legs. None of his attacks were meant to kill, that much became apparent to the knight.

  • When the knight had departed from the barrier, he would soon draw his longsword once more, and began to parry away at Alric's offensive advance, two handing his blade. Finally, he would swing, attempting to knock Alric's blade out of his hands.

  • The knight successfully knocked the blade sideways, and left a gash on Alric's sword arm. However, the Witcher held tight to the blade and stumbled to the side with the blow, cursing at the knight. He switched sword hands, recovering from the blow and keeping a distance from the knight, hoping the knights weakened knee would slow him.

  • Indeed, the slash upon his leg would begin to slow the knight, the scarlet scent of blood dripping from the slash. The knight would lower his sword for a moment, though he would bring his blade back up.

  • Seeing the knights slower movement, and apparent inability to keep his weapon up, Alric pressed the attack. He struck hard and fast at the knights blade, aiming to disarm him.

  • Amanda organized forces and the like, issuing orders from behind the main assault lines. She may be a soldier, but in war, someone had to keep the chaos controlled. // Rose slammed her spear down into the body of one of the countless opposing soldiers in the area, yanking it out then and slamming her shield into him then, edge first, a low thud heard as he collapsed. That was one of countless many, she knew, it, and so moved to the next. // Athena disguised herself then as one of the enemy foot soldiers, jogging forward then as her form solidified into it. She was going to get close. And cause a lot of mayhem.

Next to her, Rose could hear a flurry of protective flame, as Niki had taken to fighting alongside her. Ribbons of fire swirled throughout the front lines of the Tribune's forces, as the vanguards clashed against each other, orders from captains spewing from either side. "FORWARDS!" Freya would roar, as the Trayven vanguard would begin to push through the triangular formation: an arrowhead of shields and spears, against an ocean of soldiers in shining white. Niki pulled Rose back into the phalanx, sweat already beading on the mage's head. "Good t-to.. oh, no, take cover!" Niki was cut off, suddenly dropping and attempting to bring Rose down. Flurries of arrows ripped throughout the Trayven troops that were not protected by the shields, a few members of the vanguard's phalanx dropping from arrows within their chests, or heads. The Tribune's soldiers then began their assault, as members of the Trayven vanguard began to fall as the Tribune vanguard and the second line of golden-purple soldiers met. And in between, a mage and her lover. Niki attempted to pull Rose back, and yet attempted to also protect her friend, as a soldier's blade suddenly whistled over Rose's head.
Is Athena's disguise tech? Or a legit one?
• Rose ducked with Niki, trusting her lover's instinct, as she kept under the blade, then shot back up and jammed her spear into the wielder's neck, killing him. She needed metal, and lots of it, the only issue was actually getting it.
Tech, hardlight
• Not even a few seconds later, and absolute chaos ensued across the battlefield as the ranks and rows of soldiers would break apart, the ocean of Tribune soldiers finally beginning to charge towards the offensive assault. White and purple met each other head-on, only to scatter crimson red as blood would seep into Ollimand's earth. "T-Through here!" Niki yelled out through the engaging mess, as she spotted the remains of the Trayven phalanx, accompanied by more soldiers in order to form a cluster. They had begun to move through the mess, drawing closer and closer to the gates.

  • Rose kept with Niki, never leaving her side as she covered the mages back. She wanted to see this through, and if it many going through hell with Niki, then so be it.

Blades, arrows, and lances flew amongst them, blood suddenly splattered upon Niki and blinding her for a few seconds. And in that time, a knight of Tribune origin had thrusted his lance towards Rose's side, aiming to shred through her waist. ---------------------------- Athena would find her first target. A robed female, from the looks of it, her shawl a bright white and silver color. She seemed to have been coordinating the efforts for ranged reinforcements from above. A mage.

  • Athena threw her shield, knocking the lance aside, using her metalmancy to bring it back to her. Then she shot her spear forward, nailing the man in the neck. /// Athena stopped, pulling her sniper as she laid down in a few bushes, taking sight. A bit of sight adjustment, her HUD reading out the information she needed to make the adjustments. Then, she held her breath, and fired at the leader.

  • When Rose returned her gaze.. Niki was gone. It was as if she had disappeared, in the waves of purple and white. Purple for her uniform, white for her hair. The Trayven forces had begun to push up at last.. either Niki was amongst them, or.. --------------------------------- Athena's target would fall to the ground, sputtering out blood as she clutched her chest. It was as if she was literally picking into the wound, retching in agonizing pain, before Athena's victim found the bullet in her bloody hand. The soaked shawl dripped with crimson blood, yet it was as if the wound was.. closing. Torn muscle and flesh, slowly attempting to stitch itself together. "...found you." A sudden wave of earth and concrete shot towards Athena's position, releasing from the very ground itself. She would need to move, and fast.

  • Rose yelled, furious, as she began to kill whatever she could. She didn't want to lose Niki, she couldn't. /// Booms echoed, explosions flying everywhere, as slowly Rubicon forces pushed into the area. Gunshots, loud cracks of rifles, tanks following behind. They had no honor in melee, what they fought with wad a brutal determination. That was the enemy, respect them, but don't give them leverage. The sudden increase in Trayve forces, especially ones with rifles, shotguns, advanced armor and especially tanks, would bolster the fighting force. // Athena fired one more round, aimed for the head, hoping it would hit in all the chaos before she shot herself upward, sprinting away from the sudden turn of events. Magic, of course, why wouldn't it be. Why didn't she expect it?

  • Soon, it would be the Trayven troops that found themselves attempting to defend from Rose. At least, until one young man attempted to calm her. "Rose - Rose, calm down-!" In the center of chaos, the two stood, the young man keeping his shield up. He.. looked like Niki. Same angular jawline, his was more masculine though. The same blue eyes, the same silvery hair. Only this one did not love Rose: this one was trying to calm her. Oliver. Niki's twin brother, she had mentioned him before. -------------------------------- "...I give them roughly thirty minutes before this ends. The battle itself, not the hell left afterwards." Isabella would approach Amanda, finishing up the straps upon her armoring. "I won't bother you. You've got men to lead, and I do too. Let's hope that they get coсky and send a few teams to flank us - I want some new swords for the collection." -------------------------------- The second round slammed into the woman's cranium, as she fell back, bleeding from the blown apart portion of her skull. Whether Athena had succeeded in the kill or not, was the question. She had best hurry, as the stone had still carried onwards, behind her, attempting to catch her in it's grinding motions and rip her to mutilated pieces.

  • Rose gave him a sideways glance, confused, glancing around then and not knowing exactly what to expect now. She was panting heavily, chest heaving under her breastplate. // Amanda turned her head slightly, nodding to Isabella. She was in her full armor once more, resting her hands on her hips as she overlooked a holographic interface of the raging battle. "I hope they do, I wouldn't mind getting my hands a bit dirty..." She chuckled then, glancing out to the battle now. // Athena scrambled forward then, rushing to where the woman fell. She would assure her death, pulling a grenade from her belt and pulling the pin, holding the handle down to keep it from arming as she sprinted forward. Once close enough, she tossed it, then kept going, turning to the left now to avoid the blast.
