Chapter Four
Open to the vanguard.
On The Front Lines The City of Khalosh, 11:21 PM Silence. The Trayven host, accompanied by both the warriors of the Dojo and the Valkyries, had set up groups for their vanguard in order to meet and cluster upon the front line - they would join in humble groups, shrouded by the deep darkness of night and the foliage that grew over their shadows. In the distance, the first members of the charge would see Khalosh, or.. something of the sort. It's walls had been refurbished, a wooden-and-stone gateway now blocking the one entrance into the city. Surrounding the city and encasing it within it's shell was a deep, light blue fog, whisking throughout the skies and air as the city itself was eerie silent.. The only way to defeat the larger force, without starving them out, was a literal surprise charge and a lot of dead captains and lieutenants on the Tribune's half of the battle. Then, the siege horn would ring. A deep, booming thing, as those patrols and Tribune archers whom would stand upon the wall walk would suddenly draw their eyes and bows towards the outside of Khalosh. From there - the vanguard would charge out. The vanguard would be accompanied by a full-on wall of scutum-wielding troops, charging towards the city in a clustered row. A warning horn would breeze throughout Khalosh, bells ringing throughout the city as civilians, soldiers, and mercenaries alike either retreated from the impeding siege, or would head towards it. The iron doors of Khalosh would creak open only for a moment, as a welcoming party of Tribune troops would storm towards the assaulting vanguard. And yet, behind the vanguard..
For the assault members and vanguard in total.
"FOR THE GOLDEN LION!" Freya's battlecry would ring across the impeding chaos, as the armies would make their way towards the walls of Khalosh. Those whom would arrive first would have to assist the vanguard and manage to push forwards, for far behind them, a battering ram had begun progress throughout the road of the forest. The idea was to use such a siege as a distraction - and yet, be capable of eliminating the Tribune's efforts as well.
For the assassins.
"...She's a fuсking idiot. Still my sister." Isabella would murmur, as she had lead those whom wouldn't be attacking throughout a rather.. different area: one of the few recovered tunnel networks that was both kept hidden from the Tribune's scrying eyes, and one that hadn't collapsed after so much time. Such a tunnel was apparently utilized by a mafia boss, according to the information gathered by Natalie, when the first attack upon Khalosh had seemed to be in the works yet kept secret. Isabella would finally bring the assassins up a ladder and into what was an abandoned building. The sounds of charging troops and yells were in the distance, albeit not close to the building. "Could've used this place, Tribs. Literally gave up on the tunnel and building, oh well." Isabella whispered, as she then turned back to her small group of mercenaries, murderers, and generally untrustworthy people. "Alright.. captains, lieutenants, commandos, majors - whatever's out there, maybe their damn general is - point is, we need you guys to kill 'em off. These Tribune asshats will scatter afterwards.. they're probably wearing white and gold, so they'll be easy to recognize. Y'all good, or what? You need a quick bathroom break, now's the time. I'm heading down and joining the assault.. even though that fuсking walk through the tunnel is tiring as hell."

  • Throughout the chaos, Freya would begin to push forwards, now beside the sieging battering ram. And yet, she hadn't noticed Traci, as the monster underneath the Trayven's feet drew closer and closer..

  • Traci would then dive forward, attempting to tackle Freya out of the way of the beast. "Freya!"

  • Freya would turn back only for a moment, those light orange eyes laying upon Traci's tackling form before they were both sent flying to the ground, slamming against the bloodied earth. "Traci-" The creature of earth would then suddenly shoot up from the earth, the serpent of concrete and dirt letting loose a terrible roar as Trayvens and Tribune alike were sent flying. It searched for Freya, with a singular red eye peering for her.

  • Traci stared at Freya with a serious expression and tone in her voice. "Stay. Back." She got between the creature and Freya, pulling the long, black sword from her back. The small girl swung in an attempt to threaten it and keep it back.

  • The thing didn't seem too intimidating, as the colossal form began to shift, now a goliath standing at ten feet tall of rock and concrete. The being would stare down upon Traci, before letting loose an exposing roar.
Trevor Morris - Titan
"No! Swarm the beast! Form ranks - now!" Freya's commanding voice rang through the battlefield, as the creature soon found itself surrounded, or at least being surrounded..

  • "This isn't too bad..." Traci sheathed the sword again and formed a large sledge hammer in her hands instead. She lept forward, swinging at a leg.

  • Instead of standing still, the thing would bring it's leg up, the foot going over the hammer before it stepped backwards and crushed a charging flank entirely - Trayvens and Tribune alike, their agonizing last screams muffled by the bloodied, rocky foot. The beast would then swing from overhead, bringing down it's right arm in order to crush Traci.

  • Traci raised her left arm, the impact of the hit causing her to fall to a knee. She somehow managed to hold the fist up though, not allowing it to crush her. She was visibly straining herself however and her arm shook as if it might fail to hold back the large rock fist. "I could probably use some help..."

  • While Freya was using a polearm.. she still kicked into gear, or rather her commanded troops did: a command was shouted as the beast fell to a knee, it's left heel shattered as it brought up it's fist and returned attention to the Trayvens.

  • Traci groaned and stepped back from the rock monster, observing the creature. "Hmm..." A huge block of rock appeared a couple feet above the creature.

  • The rock appearing suddenly clearly surprised the attacking Trayvens, as they backed off, the slab of stone slamming into the beast of stone and sending it's neck back, squishing it's head between it's shoulders. It looked quite disturbing. Especially as it tried to roar in some form of pain.

  • Traci just formed another rock slab on top of that one...and then another on top of that. She remained expressionless as the monster was crushed.

  • Eddie was only a few ranks back from he front lines, his training steeling his nerves against the growing sense of unease that he felt. Sam had only trained him briefly, yet his mentor somehow felt confident that Eddie would return from the battle as a better warrior. “Heh,” Eddie breathed, gripping his staff just a little bit tighter than he had a moment before. He’d been in a war zone before. Amoridia’s revolution had been televised—many of the clips were his doing—and he’d seen the President torn apart by a seething mob firsthand. He’d seen Omicron, and the Rebels, and the riots in the streets. This battle, despite the fantastical setting, didn’t seem so different. There was a writhing mass of anger and tension that swept across the battlefield. He felt it as if there was a static discharge that electrified the air, and kept his hair on end. Eddie was calm. He was the eye of the storm. And he wouldn’t let emotions get in the way of his task.

  • From the ramparts of the looming city, Eddie would be one of the many that would see archers lining the walls, drawing back their bowstrings and aimed them high, as the Trayvens would attempt to shield themselves from the onslaught of arrows would fly throughout their ranks, arrowheads ripping through bodies and bouncing off of phalanx shields upon the front lines. Eddie would be far enough to where he would remain safe against the wave of arrows and bolts - even as the woman next to him was struck in the cranium, the bolt tearing through the back of her head as she fell down, limp. The Trayven vanguard and accompanying assault had taken to suddenly forming an arrowhead-like structure, pushing through the sea of conflicting soldiers of purple and gold. Eddie, meanwhile, drew closer and closer to combat..

  •

>arrowhead-like structure
Triggered
Eddie pushed up towards the front of the phalanx, fearing the arrows coming from the ramparts far more than the hectic close-quarters combat that he was approaching. The light anti-stab armor that he wore might protect him from a crossbow bolt, but he really didn’t want to take that chance. He kept a low profile, keeping his head down and remaining on the outskirts of the phalanx, waiting for the opportunity to break ranks, and fight targets with more discretion than the crowded melee could provide.

  •
Lmao
Soon, that breaking of ranks came. As Cain would lead a surrounding flank from the right side of the battlefield, at least from Eddie's position, both sides of the battle would truly clash against each other, ranks and rows breaking apart in mere seconds as the chaos ensued. Eddie had more than a few opportunities to leap into combat, perhaps even follow the cavalry in charging the gates, if he wanted to take that chance.

  • It was tempting to try his hand at honorable melee combat, but somebody had to take care of the archers. Attempting to grapple up to the top from the front was a death-wish... but they weren’t expecting anyone coming from their flanks. If he wanted to get on top of the wall, Eddie’d have to get creative. Still disguised by the Trayvon Vanguard, Eddie scanned the area for a staircase or ladder that could bring him to the archers’ positions. If there were none in sight, he’d probably try his hand at using his grappling hook to scale the wall from the back.

  • Eddie wouldn't find ladders that could reach up to the looming stone walls, at least not yet. Such things were far behind, amongst the slowly approaching battering ram. And even then.. he could use the stones set within the wall, for even as they were strong, there were still plenty of ledges that he could scale.

  • "Yeah. I'm good." Alpha said tiredly, before taking her rifle off of her back and checking over it. "Though I'd like something more specific than 'kill this guy'....."

  • "Oh, shut your mouth. Just get the job done." Isabella muttered to Alpha, though it wasn't in a rude or commanding manner. When she left for the tunnel, she sighed, looking back at Alpha. "...Don't get killed."

  • The area that she would survey was difficult, with the buildings of Khalosh, but the outpost at the gates were particularly crowded. Tribune captains and leaders swirled throughout the ranks.

  • The din was loud, and with the sounds of battle far away, she could fire without her sound being triangulated by the men. She squeezed the trigger, taking out a few minor and a couple major officers before the men knew anything was wrong.

The first shot, one combatant yelled "SNIPER!" into the air. The second shot, the captain had fallen down, clutching her chest as she began to bleed out. At this rate, they had begun to realize the shots were taken from above, in a specific direction. There would be a third, if Alpha's building didn't begin to shake and quiver, disorientating her vision and slinging her about in her position. She needed to get going, else the building would collapse and kill her.

  • She turned to gas and re-formed on a rooftop farther away. She sighted another target, but laid low until the others with her hopped in.
