The Foundary 1300 Hours Tatakai orbit Just above the edge of Tatakai's atmosphere, the fabric of space rippled immensely. From the ground at the Dojo, it almost appeared as though one had thrown a stone into a puddle. As the waves became more and more intense, a massive space station audibly popped into existence. The station in question was severely damaged, with fires blazing across the hull. The 'North' side had been cut nearly in half by a hull breach almost the size of the Dojo itself. As the station was caught by Tatakai's gravity, it slowly began to sink downward. Massive hydrogen thrusters began to fire, to little avail. Any radio equipment began to receive a transmission, presumably from the falling structure. "This is an automated message. May-Day, May-Day, May-Day, This is the Acrux Foundries research station , requiring immediate evacuation. Station has entered an inescapable gravity well, and is predicted to impact surface in-Twenty-minutes. Internal scans report-Three thousand, five hundred, and one-persons still aboard. This message will now repeat."
Open
• A nearby Frontier surveyor ship floated quietly in nearby space, immediately picking up the station automated signal. "What the -blam!- was that?" the pilot yelled, startled by the station's sudden appearance. He listened to the signal, cursed under his breath, and responded.
This is Frontier surveyor vessel 3762 responding to station distress beacon. What is your reactor power-level and engine status? What is estimated surface impact radius? Over.
• The automated message selected a new track: "Warning: Reactor power below safe standards. Warning: Emergency thrusters operating below optimum levels." Almost to punctuate this, one of the thrusters pettered out for a moment, before re-igniting. "Current estimated warhead detonation energy rated at 77 petajoules."
This enough to permanently -blam!- Tatakai beyond repair, but only at the current speed. Thrusters are hard at work to slow it down, though.
• "Holy shit. I got to get a message to command." the pilot said to himself as he adjusted his radio.
This is Frontier surveyor ship 3762 to Command: A research station is caught in Tatakai's gravity well and will impact the surface in twenty minutes. Over. Command: How many aboard? 3762: Over three thousand. Major hull breach on north side. Potential warhead detonation power at 77 petajoules. Command: Shit. We'll be there in two minutes. Find out of their communications systems are online. 3762: Roger
The pilot once again adjusted the radio as to communicate with the station.
What is the status of your communication systems? Does anyone in the station have control over piloting?
• Once again, the automated system beeped, playing a new track: "Warning: severe power malfunction. Diverting all available power to-Life support-Reactor Shielding-Central A.I core-Primary communications. Warning: fire in-Primary communications-Command deck. All personnel have been evacuated from these decks."
The primary impact force of the station is driven mostly by the reactor going supercritical, taking a lot of high energy FTL drives with it. But the actual station impact would probably destroy a large city. Take note of that for later.
At that moment, dozens of Frontier craft appeared out of hyperspace, including five transport ships that could hold about 800 people each, a large command ship, and two small rift-class warships. Onboard the command ship, the commander on board watched the station closely. "Sir," a man said while addressing him, "Analysis suggests extreme damage to the station's systems. Cannot escape gravity well with current power. The reactor has a 37% chance of going supercritical and destroying most of the planet upon impact. Non-supercritical impact radius suggests minimum safe distance of 200 miles or more." "Hm. Initiate any possible warning systems you can access on-planet immediately. Evacuate the immediate impact area and put out an immediate warning to prepare in case the reactor blows." the commander responded. "Yes sir." the man said as he went over to his computer monitor in an attempt to warn the planet. He then patched into the radio in an attempt to communicate with the station.
This is Commander Alex Kovic of the USS Andromeda belonging to the standard Frontier fleet. What is your status? Is there an estimated time for surface impact?

I'm liking this so far
• The automated system broadcasted a series of messages to fulfill the requests, but the estimated impact time was only eighteen minutes despite a few more passing. However, there was a weak signal hiding in the frequency just below the primary transmission.
*Static*...ecurity specialist...*Static*...Request immediate fire support...*Static*-ultiple contacts threatening emergency systems...*Unintelligible speech* Unknown ships, please respond!
Alongside this transmission was a series of coordinates... Uncomfortably close to the primary reactor, and the engine fuel manifolds. Something else was on the ship, and it wanted it to hit the ground.

  •
Transmission received. If you can here us, stand by for assistance.
The commander watched as the rest of the crew onboard the command deck was frantic. Some were trying to evacuate the planet, while others were preparing for an immediate boarding party. "Sir. We're picking up both civilians and apparent military on board. Some sort of hostile conflict. Someone there seems to be trying to destroy the reactor and crash the station. Even if we manage to prevent that..." another man said, "I... don't think it's going to be possible to save the crew." "Prioritize the preservation of the reactor. Get out as many civilians as you can." was the commander's only response as both warships and three transport ships made their way to the station in an attempt to dock/board...
Few questions. One, will this definitely hit the planet? Two, it is pretty much impossible to save them with the amount of time we have, right? And three, are the hallways large enough to fit a Titan (from Titanfall)?
•
Answer 1: The station is definitely going to hit the ground, but not necessarily at destructive speeds. (Relatively.) Answer 2: You have six general options here; three of them you can do right now: Blow up the station, minimal damage but everyone aboard is dead, or you can prioritize rescue and hope that you can break the station before it hits the ground. You could also try to slow down the ship/push it over the ocean and give yourself more time, but risk losing resources for other options. You aren't limited to these if you get creative, but having some known paths is helpful. Answer 3: You might be able to fit a Stryder type in the transport hallways, with some reduced mobility.
•
Hardest one: Reset the reactor. You would have to send someone INSIDE it, carrying enough exotic matter to rip the fabric of reality into shreds. Ion thrusters activate, station hovers. Alternatively, eject the core. This one risks sacrificing a ship, and shuts off the engines. Getting everyone off would be recommended first. (You would still have to deal with both the now supercrit reactor and the crashing station.) Finally, and my favorite: push the thing back upward. Going to need to push all the ships on the bottom of this. Big risk, and there might be problems down the road. Very soon down the road. Feel free to mix and match these options to the degree that pleases you.
• Unfortunately for the Frontier ships, the docking clamps on the station were similar in size, but in a pentagonal configuration. More fortunately, however, a large hangar was open nearby, with fighting broken out between some entrenched boarding party and a group hidden away in a large transport hallway.

One of the combatants hidden in the vehicle hallway shouted at the landing ships with a loudspeaker. "Landing ships, offload your troops before the Vulpecula ground them. Looks like the cavalry's here, boys!" Almost as prophecy, some of the entrenched shock troopers begin redirecting weapon fire at the ships.

  • One of the Frontier ships turned on some sort of speaker, trying to communicate with the people firing at them. A booming voice came over it, deep and commanding. "ATTENTION. We are Frontier craft. You are outnumbered in weaponry, troops, and technology. STAND DOWN." From several of those ships dropped fully armored Ogre-class Titans, each wielding heavy weaponry. They began to fire.

The Frontier ships certainly knew how to make an entrance, but these 'Vulpecula' weren't having any of it. Immediately after the first titan deployed, the majority of the forces began to focus on them, with several beginning to procure cryogenic laser cannons to rain heavy fire on the mechs. The loudspeaker from the hallway soon replied. "Yeah, don't bother trying to make them surrender. It just pisses them off. Now they're probably going to send a tank here. Along this hallway. Eh~Please reinforce us."

  • Some of the Frontier troops chose to continue their engagements with the hostile military force, while the rest began to land and prepare to reinforce the civilians on-site.

Within a few minutes, the last of the shock troops inside the hangar were eliminated. Meanwhile, whoever was at the barricade was approached by-apparently-a security guard. "What the hell are you doing? Dropping armored antipersonnel mechs that big against an enemy who specializes in destroying conventional machinery?! Either your commander is incredibly confident, or incredibly stupid."

  • Luckily for the station, the Planetary Goods Platform received the transmission as well. All hands on deck, nearly two dozen ships of varying sizes, being able to carry between 20-400 people were launched from the platform, making way for the crashing station. "Station, this is Captain Michael Smith of The Finite frigate, are there any areas that we may land along with the rest of our ships and provide an extraction?"

  • The automated system paused for a moment, before beeping in indication that if had selected a new track. "Captain Michael Smith. Warning: major hull breach detected in northern sector." Sure enough, there was a gaping hole in the side of the station, with all instruments inside the ships indicating that was indeed magnetic North. "Warning: Hangar bay 25 compromised. Warning: Command center compromised. All external air locks are functional, have a nice walk!"
The part where the transmission says your name is a direct playback.
•
Noice
"Alright boys, let's move." Michael stated over the comms for the other ships, as the various types moved toward the station. They floated between the ripped open parts, attempting to get in through the hull breach.

  • Just inside the breaches, hints of gunfire could be discerned by the approaching ships. While some of the combatants were clad in heavy environmental suits, the opposition seemed to be primarily scientists. Both sides were using lasers against each other.

  • "Station, this is Captain Michael Smith. Can you tell me who the hell we're extracting? I see two factions out here!" The captain exclaimed over the comms, his ship landing behind the troops with environmental suits.

  • The station promptly responded. "Warning: Hostile forces-" the station immediately switched tracks, "-below forty degrees centigrade." One of the enviro-suited combatants threw a grenade towards the scientists, which detonated in a starburst of frozen air.

  • Somehow, through the dojo atmosphere yet outside, a signal was picked up, somehow having transmitted through the planet. "Acrux foundries research station, what are your hyperlight engine capabilities, over."
