One of the giants sniffed the air. The being looked at its twin with a look of curiosity on its face. "Brother, you not smell that smell?" It said I a voice that was loud and booming enough to cross miles. The other one looked at its so called brother for a second and sniffed the air. "Yes brother, it not smell like you but do not see it. What you think?" The first one grumbled not having any real answer. Off in the distance sat a rusty old gate by their lair. It was beaten and battered, showing signs of mideval design suggesting It was nearby one of the ever so slightly more modern rings. It seemed inconvienent for such strange creatures to create a den so close to this door to another time.

  • They might be able to smell him, but so far they couldn't see him. He carefully and quietly maneuvered around the ring in the brush, occasionally leaving torn pieces of his shirt, which he covered in armpit sweat, behind him to drag the monsters away should they look for the man. As he went around, he paused just within sprinting distance from the gate, stopping and waiting for an opportune moment to sneak through and avoid violence.

  • "It tickles nose" One said as curiosity began to overwhelm it. One of the giants began walking over to places the scent was and the noise of roots snapping could be heard nearby as it proceeded to uproot bushes in its search. The air of a bush flying closely over the man's head could be felt as one continued its investigation. "I find small skin. Strange animal" One had gotten its hands on a pic of torn shirt mistakening it for the hide of a strange creature.

  • With one distracted, he pulled a small stone from the ground, and chucked it in front of him to the opposite side of the rings, when both had looked away. With his strength, the stone crashed into the tree, and ricocheted off it into the nearby bushes, making it seem as if an animal had ducked in there. While the large things were distracted, he began sneaking into the gate, and rushed quickly through when he was close.

  • As he came closer, it was ironic almost. Both of the creatures were distracted but it seemed the gate was locked. Both of the giants were still busy wasting their time looking for what they heard before a small thing simmered at the end of one of the giants tentacles on its back. A key. It began to make sense why the giants lived so close to the gate. They had the means of opening the door but in a twist, they were much too large to fit through said gate. A cruel joke indeed.

  • He looked at the key... Then the gate... The decided to bend the metal and squeeze himself through. No use in committing senseless violence. He quickly slipped through, and bent the metal back, so that the trolls, even if they could not fit, would not get through. Quickly he hurried down past the gate.

  • The inside past the gate felt like catacombs. Cold, damp and claustrophobic with brick on both sides. There were hallways leading to dead ends every few steps but at the end of it stood something of a oddity. A robe with its face hidden behind cloth stood looking out at its new visitor. Ordinarily it would have perhaps been inviting to meet something that didn't seem hostile but looking to where it's legs should have been. Tentacles. Long black oily tentacles laid from beneath the robes. "Resourceful one aren't you? Avoiding the trial in its entirety, yet still succeeding to get past the first of my gates." It's voice was unusual. It was much deeper than his size suggested and seemed to not even come from him but from somewhere far away.

  • Dale flipped the axe in his jeans with a grimace. Trial? What a sick thing to do- sending men to their dooms as a disgusting game. However, he'd keep his tongue in check. Yeah. No use in senseless death.

"Mmm, yes. A human sense of morality I suppose. Perhaps it will be interesting to have an outsiders opinion" One of the many tentacles fished its way into a sleeve producing what looked to be a scarf. There were what two black spots painted to look like nostrils from a boar. "Though, even with a dissintrest in violence you may find use in this. The nose of the huntsman would be its name in your tongue. With it, you will know your surroundings much better as no sent shall escape this nose"

  • Well, thanks, I guess. He was still wary of the man, but the offer of a gift caused him to lower his guard a little, placing the axe upon his shoulder rather than his hand. He quickly reached out and took the scarf from the offerer, before tempering his manners. What's your name? I'm Dale, Dale Morrison. His feet shifted back, as if he was ready to bolt at any moment. Sometimes these types of men did not like the mention of names- something about true names having power.

  • "My real name would be... unpronouncable. Cognivermis might be more preferable to your kind." Once the scarf was removed from its limb, the tentacle slithered back to join the others laying on the ground. "There is more unique items if you wish to proceed. I will not judge how you proceed. The man in white was amusing after all"
Probably will post the next trial tomorrow.
