People don't get what it takes to create new stuff (Development)

Hi dear community, I roughly think that the most of the people that "hate" out there, without any single constructive feedback, about the DLC (or the raid lairs) know what it actually takes to develop such a big ass raid. Like have you done well coded programming before? Modelling? Animating? Sound effects? Mapping? I'm not trying to defend this game, it's more that I wanna say that you should think about the people behind the game, in the studios. They're just normal people like you and me and they use their time to develop you guys something to play, have fun and enjoy. And after that they get hated to death with nonsense hating? How would you feel as a developer? And obviously it's gonna cost you something, would you code hundreds of hours, if not even thousands of hours for free? As a developer myself, I can tell you, it's not easy, it takes a damn lot of time and effort. And after that we'd love a "thank you" instead of a "f**k you". Not saying you should love the game completely after this, but understand the work that has been put in. This had to be said: At least some respect to the developers, designers & co. would be appreciated, instead of all the braindead-hating. Everyone has their opinion, but think about it, before shouting it. Thank you for your time Lots of love for the community & the workers Don Diablo

  • I bet it's hard to engineer brakes on a car, but if the damn things don't make it stop....you didn't do your job. Wish I got to not produce positive outcomes at my job because it's "hard."

  • You... LOL bungie is a multi million dollar company. They can make anything happen within a day if they wanted. Blizzard doesn't just fix bugs in hot fixes, they implant balance changes EVERY WEEK! Wow they actually care about their customers. Sometjing bungie severely lacks

  • This is almost like "make a game yourself and see how you do" response. It's not the players job to understand "how hard" it is as no one gives a damn when you pay money for a product. You want a thank you? Maybe do things right rather than a half assed downgrade to D1 (which was also shit). Let's apply what you said to the master chief collection. Arguably one of the most broken things ever released. Should people have thanked 343 just cause it's "hard" to do 4.5 games in one? Absolutely not, especially when they paid 60$ for a broken product. It's the developers job to make it work and the consumer to judge based off what they get. Furthermore 343 took that task themselves, so maybe they shouldn't have done it if it was hard 🤔furthermore the collection had various things wrong with it besides it's coding. Bungie is flat out incompetent in various areas. How do you go from various pvp mode choices to a quick play and competitive playlist only? Makes sense to have the options out while the player base is at its peak. How do you then go from being able to replay the story in D1 to having the ability to replay a few missions when they are activated on challenges? From picking strikes to not picking strikes? they completely obliterated player choice in this game. You can't even use shaders until you have your final gear in place, unless you're ok with tossing shaders after going up a few light levels and repeating the process. I'm glad you mention the raid. How do we go from the vault of glass to whatever the hell D2 gave us? Bosses don't drop loot, the loot itself is copy and pasted with no raid specific perks anymore. There's far more puzzles when the game is a shooter. The raiding quality has dropped ever since VoG and even VoG had issues. It's to the point where they need to either drop raids entirely and replace it with something else or Seriously think on how to get an Interesting raid setup. Cause raids naturally don't pull in half the player base, but it's an issue when your raids continuously drop in player count after each raid addition due to how BS they are. I don't even play the game anymore but even if I did I'd be avoiding raids entirely, they're not interesting and have only gotten progressively worse. There's more wrong with this game than just coding. You're absolutely right most players won't understand coding, but one doesn't need to understand it to see issues with the game nor does that lack of understanding excuse them from criticizing. It's funny how you're a "developer" but this is what you fail to see. The end product is all that matters, the consumer doesn't care of the process to get there.

    • Well would you thank Randy Pitchford, Gearbox Software and the other studio responsible for Aliens: Colonial Marines? How would you feel after hearing Randy's response towards the negative criticism Aliens: Colonial Marines received? And there response to the negative reception Duke Nukem Forever received? Or what about the developers behind Mighty No. 9? And their response "It's better than nothing" after the negative reception that followed? Or No Man's Sky, where the Sean Murray practically fibbed about it? Let's not forget Bungie's own Luke Smith, and his cringeworthy interview with Eurogamer. Where his exact words were: "If I fired up a video right now and showed you the emotes you would throw money at the screen."

      • Think the Witcher series. Think Breath of the Wild. Think Resident Evil 4. Think Halo. Now think Destiny. You're apparently a game developer? Good for you. So more than anyone you should be well versed in the disparity of quality between games? And yes, game development's arduous. So referring back to the aforementioned assertion—you'd also be well aware that there's usually some sort of monetary requirement which comes with most video games. $60 for the base game— "Okay, fine." $100 for the ‘delux edition’— "Sure..." $130–$500 for the collector's edition— "This's getting a little bit much." $30–$80 for the season pass— "Oh, come on!" $10 for cosmetics— "..." $50 to surpass the grind— *sigh* $50 for the DLC not included in the season pass $30 for Doritos promotion $60 for the remastered version $30 for remastered DLC $10 for cosmetics in the re— at this point the guy's killed himself. This isn't even taking into account the hugely inflated, inconsistent, and often arbitrary pricing that publishers slap on other regions. Get the point? The devs and publishers get the money for the game. They don't get the gratuity unless the game's genuinely good. Same as everything.

        • They removed so many things from d1 and will probably add later as new content and charge for it no wonder the community is angry. Sure it's not easy to code but tell me why kiosks ,strike specific loot, crucible choices to name a few removed? They had more than 2 years to develop the game and they pushed the release date Back gave us roi as a small expansion and still has less content than d1. They have reused the enemy models,no new enemy class, returning exotics from d1 the tower got destroyed and still we somehow have mida and other exotics back. If the stupid gunsmith can give a mida quest why not a gjallahorn or tlw or thorn quest?? If you defend bungie and still buy the product they will never change.

        • If you are going to make excuses for your incompetence then don't bother coming on the forum the bastards at bungie had three years to get things right and in the last two months I've heard one excuse after another that it endgame content or it pvp while the rest of the game is falling apart from one thing after another. So if this is a bungie paid post to try and justify their position then you have failed again. & the game still sucks

        • Bungie had raids in DLC 1 and 2 in Destiny 1. What changed since D1? Nothing. Besides Bungie's laziness; that increased exponentially.

        • I’ve designed a better raid at 10 years old than the Leviathan. Sure, my raid was just the entire game, but at least it had a story to it AND had hundreds of different weapons AND had about 5 different classes AND had MMO capabilities AND was coded by a total of three people. If Bungie can’t top that with a team of hundreds, then I think there’s something wrong with them.

        • We paid for a product and it sucks. They made it seem all that and it sucks. We paid for growth on top of the previous product. We didn't get that. If you bought a car with all the bells and whistles, then traded it in for next years version and it blew ass, wouldn't you be pissed? You wouldnt sit back and say well I know it takes a lot to design and build a car..........

          • They have been working on D2 for how long? They said they had developed new tools to enable them to create and release content more easily and more frequently. Did they mean more shaders, ships and emotes?

            • If bungie was a small indie studio with like 50 employees than yea. But they have over 800 employees and are backed by the biggest game publisher. They have more than enough assets to make a better game with more content better dlcs with raids.

              • You don't seem to get that they have an entire team dedicates to creating the raids. Don't act high and mighty. You aren't the only one that's worked as developer. When you have a team dedicated to creating a raid experience, and they can't deliver a raid in three or four months, is absolutely disgusting. There's no reason that a team can't deliver that, when that's all they work on. They have had so much time to perfect the Destiny formula in the original Destiny, then decided not to capitalize and removed those features. They removed features that weren't even added post launch. It's inexcusable.

                • D1 went through three years of updates, changes, and fixes that made the game better. Bungie sent all that to the crapper and dropped so many parts of the game (grimoire, game mode selection, meaningful loot, light lvl is as meaningful as a wet fart) and are spending time/resources to put an emote wheel in the game. They are soooo many things they can work on but they decided that an emote wheel should be more prioritized than banning ddos' (and i mean perma ban not two week temp ban) and fixing lag that is in about 90% of matches that ive seen on stream or played myself.
