People don't get what it takes to create new stuff (Development)

Hi dear community, I roughly think that the most of the people that "hate" out there, without any single constructive feedback, about the DLC (or the raid lairs) know what it actually takes to develop such a big ass raid. Like have you done well coded programming before? Modelling? Animating? Sound effects? Mapping? I'm not trying to defend this game, it's more that I wanna say that you should think about the people behind the game, in the studios. They're just normal people like you and me and they use their time to develop you guys something to play, have fun and enjoy. And after that they get hated to death with nonsense hating? How would you feel as a developer? And obviously it's gonna cost you something, would you code hundreds of hours, if not even thousands of hours for free? As a developer myself, I can tell you, it's not easy, it takes a damn lot of time and effort. And after that we'd love a "thank you" instead of a "f**k you". Not saying you should love the game completely after this, but understand the work that has been put in. This had to be said: At least some respect to the developers, designers & co. would be appreciated, instead of all the braindead-hating. Everyone has their opinion, but think about it, before shouting it. Thank you for your time Lots of love for the community & the workers Don Diablo

There have been thousands of posts suggesting ways to improve the game. You must have missed them or maybe you ignored them to help your point. I dont need to know how to build a car to know if it drives well just like I dont need to be a programmer at Bungie to know what's wrong with Destiny 2.

  • Sure, I dont think that developing is easy. But when you are selling a product, and that product is a sequel to a game that had already solved a lot of issues that are currently plaguing the current title, I dont feel bad at all for blaming the developers for being lazy.

    • Nobody is hating on the worker bees. Its Luke Smith and the other team leaders that don't communicate with each other or seem to have any direction that most of the hate is directed towards, as it should be.

    • So... You have even heard of "Falskaar"? A DLC-sized mod for Skyrim made by ONE PERSON who took 2000 hours to finish it. Said DLC adds many features to the main game like: - An entirely new land independent of Tamriel, roughly the size of 2-3 Skyrim holds. - 20-30+ hours of gameplay. - 26 quests, including a 9 quest long main story, and 17 side quests! (Along with some unmarked content) - New items including new books, recipes, weapons and armors. (A mix of brand new, and retextured)* - Two new spells and a new shout.* - A bard with several unique new songs. - A soundtrack containing 14 brand new tracks composed by Adamm Khuevrr just for Falskaar, adding more than 40 minutes of new music! - A fully voiced experience, featuring almost 30 semi-professional and professional voice actors and actresses. And the guy programmed it ALONE. The -blam!-ing "DLC" doesn't have ONE error nor it affects the "main game". This is what people with passion do. A good job. Not this excuse for a triple A game.

      • It doesn't matter how difficult it is to create a raid. I don't honk anyone is disputing that. What people are pissed at is the lack of things to grind for, lack of end game content that gives you anything other than cosmetics, no heroics (sorry tacking it onto a dlc and making you pay for it), missing crucible game modes, I'm pissed at the removal of intellect, discipline and strength for current system, etc. Its not the type of content but the missing game modes and the static rolls. You may love the lack of game modes and content. A lot of people bought the game thinking Bungie will build on year 3, but bungie isn't building shit.

      • They have the engine, they have the tools for the engine. It doesn't take much work to make new zones or enemies. Good try though

      • These guys had plenty of time to develop and delivered a meaningless experience. They even slapped together RoI because D2 needed to he pushed back until this year and this is all they could muster? I know there isn't going to be the same amount of content at the beginning of D2 as compared to the end of D1, but damn they took so many steps backward on so many fronts. I had people on my friends list that got on everyday to do the -blam!-ing bounties, and they can't even find a reason to continue to play D2.

      • I always hate when someone says something like this. Developing a game is just like any other job that takes skill. I weld and get judged on every weld I make and if it's not good enough guess what? I'm told to re do. There is no difference. A game is coded and developed by people who went to school and learned how to do it just like people go to school to do any type of job.

What is not ok is putting out an unfinished product while wanting the full price for it. Also if something is bad...it's bad and it doesn't matter how much time and effort it took.

Devs get respect when we get theirs. Destiny 2 is a kick in the balls to the fans who stuck with them for three years while they fixed their last unfinished game. "Fool me once..."

        • Why isn't private matches in the game? Why is only one strike mode available? Why is it only 2 crucible modes? These questions can continue.. You release a non finished game that are worse than your old game. How is that even possible? -blam!- you! 🖕

take a look at Warframe a free to play game with a lot less devs than bungie and still have the same polish as a AAA game. It has more content than d2 and you can literally play for hours and never give them a single buck. Did they not code for thousands of hours? Edit: I mentioned this in a different post. D2 is not using totally new models or weapons. Same weapons, same enemy models, returning exotics. Returning exotics just shows how lazy they are. If the stupid gunsmith can give a mida quest why not a gjallahorn quest? If they had to remove d1 exotics they should have removed them completely. I would have been happy with no returning exotics but guess what 4 years later mida is till the meta.

            • As a designer i can tell that the weapon designs are lazy compared, to the designes in destiny 1. There is no real effort put in the gun design, however the level design is really good.

            • Well in all seriousness they knew this was coming. 100% They knew theyre hardcore fan base from D1 would have issues with D2. They knew they changed the game so much and made it feel so different.

            • The issues people have with the game isn’t with the mapping, modeling, programming and so on. It’s with the gameplay design. How the game plays. The 2-primary system. The PvE/competitive PvP conjunction. The lack of an endgame. People don’t have issues with the grunt work, but with the leadership, and lack of a concrete, coherent, cohesive vision.

              • I’m not a dev and I don’t really care about the people behind the game. I can’t, I’ve never met them nor talked to them, I don’t know them. They are pretty much like everyone else at their job. However you can make posts online but for me to develop an emotional connection there has to be some form of getting to know them in order for me to care. (At least for me I kind of require them to talk too me since certain vibes voice tones and things you can’t get from texts are how I “feel out” a person) Side note: if a chef messed up my food I’d be pretty mad at him so saying “you don’t know what it’s like” doesn’t really matter since I paid for his service and he failed. He can either fix it or find someone else who can otherwise as a customer id be getting a refund. Same goes for games and game creators (unfortunately you can’t get refunds when you go digital.)

              • What do you mean create NEW stuff? 3/4 of the content is recycled with minor tweaks. With all the unique/ under used armour and weapons for example in D1 (such as the green/ blue Y1 armour which had unique designs that were never used again) and the fact that D2 already proved that they weren't afraid to recycle their existing content- the LEAST they could have done is give unique appearances to every item. And yet they didn't. When a game has 3 years worth of content to draw from, with the newer adaptation hardly being distinguishable in terms of graphics, animations and content there is literally no excuse for what we received.

              • As a developer your logic pisses me off. I'm sick of developers coming to this forum and defending a company that has a poor concept of the features their customers are demanding. I don't go to work every day and develop features that my clients don't want/didn't ask for, are not what they're asking for, or even on par with what I previously developed. They are cutting corners and it is very very clear. Beyond this, being software developers doesn't mean we know anything about Bungie. The only context we have is as customers, and as customers there are a lot of let down people right now. You can make a post as a customer and say "hey I disagree with you, because as a customer I'm pleased", and I won't say a word. But this "I'm a developer and none of you know what its like" crap is getting old. Neither do you.
