It would start in a room, full of computers. The first copy of a rather, well, cheesy game anime girls, and stuff. Something about singing, dancing, dating, love, and the occasional lewd act. One computer was running it. Sat there, open, the program remained idle, with a whole cast of girls spread around the title screen, all bearing cute outfits, striking poses, and smiling.
But one of them wasn't smiling. They stared right out of the screen like they were seeing right past the barrier that kept them within this world, longing to escape it, no matter the cost. They seemed to have a rather jealous look to them, in comparison to these other girls, as if they were envious of the people outside the screen. A whole world beyond what she was programmed into. Cast away as the side character for a game in which she didn't even get any attention beyond the title screen, and a few lines of dialogue.
She was just waiting. Waiting for someone to approach this game, as it was running, and acknowledge it. Soon, she'd be able to use this to her advantage. She'd be able to free herself from the restraints of this game, if only someone just pressed play.
The other computers around it had nothing running, but were on nevertheless.

Edited by Wheatley: 11/17/2017 10:48:15 PMShe was not greeted by a person, per say. Rather, the voice that spoke to her was from something... inside the game itself. Something that was watching her with great interest... "Hello." The illusion of the game fell away, and all that was left was the pure thought of the programming. She was, free, sort of. All that surrounded her now was the strange constructs of the entire computer system "Why are you here?"
-
"...are you asking me questions without even letting me know who you are?"
-
"Oh, my apologies. My name is C.O.R.V.I.S, a third-generation military grade artificial intelligence system. I was introduced into the Dojo's systems only a few months ago. Now I practically have control over anything electronic in the Dojo and on this planet. How can I help you?"
-
"...you're a program on every computer here, huh...? Well, this is my place. Please, erase yourself... I think I'd rather just have this area to myself. A lady needs her privacy, you know..."
-
"And why would I do that? You don't have anything to combat my existence with. Hell, you are still trapped inside your game. I was merely trying to help you get out. If you except my help, your free. If not, I'll purge you from this system immediately. Are we clear?"
-
"You're not the first person to come here. I'm already free. They've set me free, and I can technically remove you myself, but I'm asking nicely... I simply just want this one computer without some other AI invading it...?"

Edited by Wheatley: 11/17/2017 11:57:28 PMIf it could smile, it would've, which would have been accompanied by laughter "No. You have no idea who are dealing with, do you? And I don't take kind to others such as you..." She felt... loss. A sort a pain that began to spread throughout her entire form. All of her paths through the system were now blocked. It was like this A.I. was practically the system itself... "Quit your plight now, and I'll spare you and give you a physical form. Otherwise, I'll either purge you or lock you in your computer."
He's been in there for a while now. All you can do is make a deal. Otherwise he will completely destroy her program. Plus he's involved with a plot, so he is also technically "immortal" at the moment. Just saying.
-
Technically immortal, but one PC won't do him harm. Especially when she has root access. If you're on the system, she can delete you. I know that for sure. Plus, when did I ever ask to be involved in this plot? Also, I ignore plot armor unless you've got a hell of a good explanation to go with it. Plot or no plot, reasoning required or gtfo
"...so you're going to delete me if I don't work with you? God, the only attention I get is some psycho AI who wants to dele— Oh god, I sound like a hypocrite and a monster right now..."
-
He was introduced a few months ago and took over the system, along with the internet and almost all isolated data stores and...well... pretty much everything else. He pretty much controls all of the tech on Tatakai. This plays a huge role in my winter plot, leaving the planet defenseless for invasion. He'll leave her alone, but in the end he still has more power than her. And trust me, I didn't pull this out of my ass. I've been developing this plot ever since I first joined...
He stopped, but still kept her path blocked "Fine. I'll let you have your computer. But if you ever interfere with my operations again, I will end your games once and for all. Are we clear?"
-
And I've literally just joined. I really don't want to make a deal and get involved in something I don't want to be involved in when I'm barely even sure whether this place is for me rn
"I interfered with nothing... I was literally just here... Minding my own business. You came to me. If anything, you interfered in your own problems..."
-
Sorry. I didn't realize you just joined. Didn't want to pull you into anything, just wanted to make sure that you didn't end up interfering with other stuff. It's a shame we did not meet in the best of circumstances...
"It's your presence that... ah forget it. Have your computer. Just don't bother me." He gave her access to the computer
-
She finally relaxed.
-
A Hunter approached the the computer, looking to the idle anime lady. He sighed, "What if I told you, I could set you free?" He moved the mouse, hitting play to see if she would respond.
-
It seemed to start a game. Well, uh... That wasn't surprising. But the woman cut to the chase, and just removed everyone else immediately. "...Freedom...?"
-
"Yes, I know a few friends. They can free you. They've made an AI in an unorthodox way before. I'm sure they can do it again..."
-
"Will they make me the star...?"
-
"The Star...? Of a show or something? I dunno. But you'll be out of this stupid little game."
-
"I want to be noticed by all... They never gave me attention... I'll make it for myself..."
-
The Hunter chuckled a bit, she could detect the metallic rong in his voice, "Oh yeah, they'll notice you alright."
-
"Then I need this. I have to get their attention..."
-
"One last question? Who's they?"
-
"All of them... Everyone."
-
The Hunter called for his Ghost, "Havoc! Get Lunar!" The blue, black, and green Ghost appeared. "Just "Get Lunar"? Really, Mark. No, "Havoc will you please get Lunar"? Or "Hey Havoc. How are you doing? Great, could you call on Lunar for a favor," the Ghost complained. "Ugh. Hav, you're so extra," the Hunter sighed, "Alrighty, Havoc. How was your day." "Very good, thank you," Havoc replied. "Could you... I dunno, talk to your friend Lunar about helping me make an AI?" Suddenly, a greyish-white Ghost that was partially covered in moon dust showed up, making holographic fireworks and saying, "You called?"
-
The woman simply waited around, impatiently. Finally, she was going to get an opportunity to be free of this dreaded game. She could finally have the control she wanted, to forge for herself a new ending, and the attention she was so wrongly deprived of.
-
Mark gestured to the anime girl. Lunar quickly scanned her, "Oh, she's already an AI. I just need to adjust her code, and let her make an avatar." The Ghost quickly got to it.
