Will be grate if Bungie address core problems of this game like hit registration (phantom bullets), shots thru walls and lag, lag, lag, lag and also lag.
Penalties for leaving PVP matches really? if you force players not to leave a match that they do not want to play any more ..... what will happed? ,,,,,,,,,,They will find others ways to express frustration, like sitting i the center of the map and let the other team make easy points, jumping from a cliff ...etc...etc.
This is the wrong approach you have to give players strong reasons stay in the matches not threaten them not to leave.

They are penalizing players who exit competitive games because those players penalize their teams by leaving the match.

Disclaimer: "you" is meant to refer to the player. Not specifically you, Gaurdian. That's why Bungie is adjusting the mercy rule and score to win. My best guess on why someone would leave a match, the way you have worded it, would be due to the stress of being at a great disadvantage based on skill level or weapon choice or mental state, etc. In other words, your team is losing or you aren't doing particularly well. You've got a few choices here: wait for the mercy rule to kick in, take the penalty for leaving, or just deal with it and persevere, learn what you could improve on, and try a different approach to the objective/map. Besides, whether you win or lose, have a good or bad performance, you still get the rewards. If you get frustrated with the game, don't just leave the match, switch games or shut the console off and cool down. And the ultimate alternative: don't play in the competitive playlist and stick to quickplay. If the issue is that you want to play countdown or survival without the penalty of leaving; again, don't leave, and campaign in the forums for more playlists that include non-competitive versions of those gametypes. Or just wait for private matches.

Yes, i understand what Bungie is trying to do, but if any player really do not want to continue some PVP match, and penalties are high enough to avoid leaving, that player could easely sabotage the match and there is no way Bungie can force any player to play good. So the result will be almost the same, one player will be damaging their team but this time the agony will last longer for all the team.

All the penalty will be is a couple min ban from entering back probably.

I've never had a consistent problem with any of those. Once in a blue moon maybe.

Phantom bullets are much more present in D2 than D1 specially in low fire rate weapons like hand cannons. I was shot thru walls many time specially with the Mida. You can turn a corner run for 1 meter and then take a bullet with no posible angle to shot you.

That happened in D1, often.
