Chapter One Venimus, Vidimus, Vicimus Dojoville Center, now taken by the Trayven forces 6:41 PM Trayven Head Camp ----------------------------------
Open, if you intend to be taken down by the stationed Trayvens and meet Freya.
"Thirty-six deaths. In one night." Freya's fist rested upon the wooden table, the solid surface coated by maps of the Dojo, and the surrounding area of Dojoville and the forest underneath the mountain. A lamp flickered in the corner of the room, a small bed next to it, alongside a pack of the commander's armory and such. Standing before the woman was a cloaked knight, the cloth binding around his suit hiding away the helmet upon his head and back. Freya Trayven herself wasn't biologically a Trayven, as she was one of the five that were not. The eldest brother would know that honor, she would not. But while he was off against the threat of darkness, and her eldest sister had taken to leading the front lines, Freya was wagering the war against the true enemy. The enemy of the people, in fact - the Dojo. She had created the assault plans, studied the previous invasions.. the Dojo had never faced an encamped enemy, however. They were used to spaceships and gun warfare - they would be surprised. From a perspective, Freya was ferocious, in her own manners. She was above the average female height, at about five feet and ten inches tall, albeit a complete midget to half of the Dojo's members still. Her bodily frame was bounded by a deep purple and white uniform, buttons tightening the vest around her front, links of chainmail running through the uniform as steel plate coated her shoulders as pauldrons and wrapped around her forearms. Curls of short, blood red hair fell from her head, while those two bright orange gems stared down at the scout knight that had approached her. She didn't initially believe the man, of course. The woman brushed past the armored knight, whom was only an inch taller in his armor, as she passed through the tent's entrance and into the lightly raining outside of Dojoville. Proud golden lion banners hung above the tents, a giant pole bearing the Trayven flag, instead of the Dojo's. Armored knights, calvary riders upon their steeds, armed soldiers, servants and squires rushed through the garrison, most simply nodding towards their commander as she approached the corpsmen stations, or rather the medical station. The fortress was already something, in the few days that it had been stationed. The Dojo cared not for the Trayven, if which helped their cause just as much. No, it appeared that whatever had caused the wildfire had merely stalled their progress. Now, thick wooden walls, stationed concrete, and watchtowers made up the defense, while if one were to peer at the base from afar, they would find a slight, clear grey barrier surrounding it. About twenty feet from each wall, the barrier's fence would end, while it reached a few stories into the air. There were certainly more than a hundred there, to say the very least. And the scout was right. Thirty-six dead bodies lined the ground, accompanied by two more that had been mauled and desecrated by Dojo civilians. The civilians that were taken by the Trayvens were bounded to wooden stakes, thrashing at their bonds. There were three, in total. Freya would recognize these dead men. She closed her eyes, nodding towards the corpsmen to take away the bodies for burning. She would only then turn towards the first of the Dojo civilians. She'd regularly leave executions to others that were.. more fit, to the role, but.. no one would hurt her men. So she took it upon herself to do it. ----------------------------------
Open to all.
Dojo Gates "I deliver a message from Lady Freya Trayven!" A cavalryman rode his white horse up to the Dojo's gates, circling around as he awaited an answer. In his hand, he held not a weapon, but instead a banner of Trayven - white and purple in color, with a golden, roaring lion head in the center. Upon his waist, was a tightly packed scroll of ancient parchment. He.. seemed to be waiting.

  • Mion would look around the camp with a certain amount of curiosity. How many people have come here? And when did they build this? She had some understanding of the situation she was in, but there were still some gaps here and there. Once she had received the ring, which was placed on her pointer finger, she would observe it with the same curiosity she had from before. And when prompted to try and use one of her powers, she nodded and put out her left hand. As Mion closed her eyes and focused, a bow started to appear in her hand, starting from the grip as the limbs faded in. Then came the string, which connected to each limb instantaneously, appearing as if it were made out of light.

  • Indeed, the bow that had been generated by Mion's wristband would catch the suddenly sparking interest of her fellow mage, as Niki would keep kneeling, yet she stared upon the bow of light that had seemingly been born into the world, clutched within Mion's thin little hand. The simple lime pupils of her eyes almost widened, as she would reach out to touch the bow's riser. Though her hand would draw back, instead simply resting upon her thigh. "I suppose that it wouldn't be a great idea for me to touch the bow.. what can the other wristbands do? If you don't mind telling me, of course."

"Um, well..." Mion began, as she let go of the bow, watching it dissipate into thin air. "...I can lift, push and pull things at a distance, and I can also manipulate electricity. The one last thing I can do is create concussive explosives." They were a peculiar set of abilities, but they were useful in their own ways nonetheless. Niki's attention would be brought to Mion's hood however, as a tuft of white hair was seen hanging down the left side of her forehead.

  • "That's quite a lot, with how.. young, you seem." The older of the two would murmur quietly, before her hand would reach out, feeling the tuft of white hair in silence. Her eyes widened a little, as she would look back and forth, sighing. "If you're.. y'know, a girl.. you can take off the hood. If you.. feel comfortable. I had my thoughts, but.."

  • "H-hey, what are you-?!" Mion would gasp in surprise as Niki touched a tuft of her hair. The girl would push away the hand, taking a few steps back and staring at the soldier. She would then attempt to hastily tuck back the tuft back into her hood, while still keeping her eyes on the soldier. After that, Mion just felt... uncertain. Should she really show her face to them? She contemplated this question for a moment before giving in, sighing and lifting her hands to her hood to throw it back. It revealed to Niki a young teen, somewhere around 12. Mion's hair had become slightly messy because of being under the hood, some bangs covering her ears and forehead. Feeling this, the girl removed her ponytail holder, revealing that her snowy white hair could extend down her back. "...do you want me to say my name to you as well? Seeing that I've already shown my face to you."

  • "I knew that you were young, but.." In reality, Niki had hoped for just a small teenager to have been Mion. But she was.. younger, than she hoped. Niki went silent for a few seconds, before a soft sigh would then leave her lips. "I don't demand a name, but.. I will care for you, nonetheless. Freya would kill me, but.. tell people that you're at least fourteen. Please?"

  • "Alright, if that's what you want. I can understand if you want me to lie about my age." Mion would then start to rearrange her hair, smoothing them down before tying them into a ponytail again. "So like I said before, I'll try to help with what I can... What do you want me to do?"

  • "...You'll be my assistant, for some time. If you don't mind. Basic things.. utility, if anything. Your youthfulness will hopefully be kept secret, as unlikely as that might be.." Niki would sigh, nodding to herself with a certain silence. "I can get you fed, and keep you safe if.. anything happens."

  • Mion only silently nodded to that, accepting Niki's conditions. She didn't mind only running a few errands and things like that, if they were that simple. After that, the girl would adjust her ponytail so that she would put on her hood again, so that nobody was able to see what age she was anymore. She tugged at the edges of her hood to better conceal her face, then she lowered her hands to her sides.

  • Niki would kneel down so that she could inspect away at the child before her. She silently pointed out the successes and flaws in her mind, and to be quite honest, Mion had done the best that she could have done in order to conceal her identity. "I think that you'll be alright. But, if anyone decides to ask, well.." Niki would dig through the pockets of her robing, before prying out a copper pin. Upon it's metal surface was an "X", nothing more. She would pin it onto Mion's jacket, nodding a little. "There. You should fit in well."

  • Mion would look in curiosity at the metal pin, raising her hand slightly towards it. Her fingers would come close to touching it before just hovering there, pulling her hand away before gently lowering her arm. "Um... what does it do? What does it mean?"

  • "It marks you as an assistant, dear. Men and women will respect you as one of their own. Think of yourself as.. my pupil. Which does remind me. I could.. teach you a few things. A few magic things, here and there. Interested?" Niki smiled, still kneeling for Mion. It was so the child wasn't forced to look up for a time, really.

  • Mion would gaze at Niki's face, thinking over the fact that she could receive some magic training. Now that she thought about it, perhaps her bracelets were focal points to her abilities, channelling her crystal's power into what came out of those bracelets. "Well... I guess I can take you up on your offer." Mion replied, nodding once.

  • "Alright.. we'll begin with the basic things later on. I'm a little busy with some things.. but you're free to do whatever you please. Oh, and you can take my bed in my tent. I.. prefer the chair." Niki would finally stand up on her feet, sighing as she would then motion for Mion to follow her back to her tent. It was an idea to show her around her tent and ensure that she was comfortable with settling down.

  • Mion would just follow along wordlessly, walking behind Niki so that she was a tail's length behind her. She would observe everything around her as she walked. "So... what does your tent look like? I could imagine it to be simplistic, in a way."

  •
Just so I know, what defences are the encampment made out of? Are there any vulnerabilities, such as crawlspaces or something?
•
You could probably find only a few spaces. The camp utilizes brick and concrete, mostly.
• The vellum in his hand was certainly enough to warrant JT's attention. The augmented figure hastily took the note and shut the gate, giving a look of curiosity to it as he reentered the Dojo. Sitting beneath the Tree of Sithis, he would give it a read.

  • To the denizens of the Dojo, In the past weeks alone, your great center of combat has experienced both an invasion, and a wildfire that stretched across your entire village. Yet, it would not be the protectors from the Dojo that would lead the fight against the Imperial invaders - it would be the rebel armada and one woman. And it would not be the defenders of the people that saved the people from fire and death - it would be invaders from a foreign land who would. If not for our own complications, then this letter would not be sent - rather, the wrath of siege equipment and cavalrymen. However, I find it to be a necessity to meet whomever leads your army itself, or rather defense. In person. You shall find me within our encampment. Signed, Freya Trayven If anything at all.. it was demanding a surrender from the Dojo.
Yes, cheap copy-and-paste. The letter's only been opened by Roy so far.
• JT had a look of curiosity on his face. Had they forgotten that the Dojo is not forced to protect the village? That they are not sworn defenders, rather people who live atop a hill? He chuckled at the note thoughtfully, and eventually it led him to stand and make way towards the Trayven camp.

  • JT would find himself traversing the streets of the once again burnt Dojoville. While some buildings would remain standing after the wildfire, some appeared to be burnt to the ground, yet some were being rebuilt. Slowly but steadily, it seemed as if a few of these "Trayven" workers had taken to helping the people. Clearly to expand their territories over the city. In the center, would lay a proud, standing garrison, trenches dug deep into the ground, at least from the sides of the road leading into the fortress. Beyond those would be a clear barrier, formulated of magic. They had built a fully fledged medieval fort, meanwhile, using the buildings of Dojoville and architecture to their advantage.

  • JT looked about at the people and buildings. He recognized too many faces and landmarks in the city, disheveled by warfare and strife from recent events in the village. It was a sickening sight, but he knew these people - the Trayvens, or whoever the -blam!- they were, JT didn't know them yet - were actually helping. He approached the gates of the garrison and opened them, walking in with a stride that emanated raw power and strength, pride lifting his right hand and displaying the note clearly for all that would look at him. He wasn't one to not make a powerful impression, certainly.

  • "Hold, ser." JT wouldn't find himself entering without no interference, as a few of the Trayven patrols would stop him at the gates. The patrol consisted of three men and two women - an army that utilized both genders, oddly enough - each of them armored in the same fashion - suiting the colder October weather, the soldiers took to wearing an outfit intended for colder weathers, the jackets they wore a light grey color, lined with chainmail underneath. Their helmets were strapped to their chins, their forearms and shins guarded by steel. "May I ask why you've approached this place, sir?" From above, the men in the watchtowers had split between watching JT, and scanning the horizon. Crossbows were yet to be trained upon him, though those with longbows studied the outskirts still.

  • "Do you not see the note clearly displayed in my hand? Lady Freya Trayven told me to come o'er here," JT would respond. His accent was still as western as ever, though the wording choice he used was more of a fancy one. He hoped to help them understand him with more esse than if he just used slang.

  • The closest of the five patrolmen would immediately snatch the letter out of JT's hands - though it wasn't purposefully committed in a rude manner, though it was insulting anyway - as she would reveal the array of letters that made up the parchment's message. She nodded, towards JT as she returned the message back. "You may find Lady Freya in the center of the camp, with the purple and golden flags beside it, and the smoking pits beside those as well." The patroller would point, then, to a tent. It would match the description that had been given to JT.
