Chapter One Venimus, Vidimus, Vicimus Dojoville Center, now taken by the Trayven forces 6:41 PM Trayven Head Camp ----------------------------------
Open, if you intend to be taken down by the stationed Trayvens and meet Freya.
"Thirty-six deaths. In one night." Freya's fist rested upon the wooden table, the solid surface coated by maps of the Dojo, and the surrounding area of Dojoville and the forest underneath the mountain. A lamp flickered in the corner of the room, a small bed next to it, alongside a pack of the commander's armory and such. Standing before the woman was a cloaked knight, the cloth binding around his suit hiding away the helmet upon his head and back. Freya Trayven herself wasn't biologically a Trayven, as she was one of the five that were not. The eldest brother would know that honor, she would not. But while he was off against the threat of darkness, and her eldest sister had taken to leading the front lines, Freya was wagering the war against the true enemy. The enemy of the people, in fact - the Dojo. She had created the assault plans, studied the previous invasions.. the Dojo had never faced an encamped enemy, however. They were used to spaceships and gun warfare - they would be surprised. From a perspective, Freya was ferocious, in her own manners. She was above the average female height, at about five feet and ten inches tall, albeit a complete midget to half of the Dojo's members still. Her bodily frame was bounded by a deep purple and white uniform, buttons tightening the vest around her front, links of chainmail running through the uniform as steel plate coated her shoulders as pauldrons and wrapped around her forearms. Curls of short, blood red hair fell from her head, while those two bright orange gems stared down at the scout knight that had approached her. She didn't initially believe the man, of course. The woman brushed past the armored knight, whom was only an inch taller in his armor, as she passed through the tent's entrance and into the lightly raining outside of Dojoville. Proud golden lion banners hung above the tents, a giant pole bearing the Trayven flag, instead of the Dojo's. Armored knights, calvary riders upon their steeds, armed soldiers, servants and squires rushed through the garrison, most simply nodding towards their commander as she approached the corpsmen stations, or rather the medical station. The fortress was already something, in the few days that it had been stationed. The Dojo cared not for the Trayven, if which helped their cause just as much. No, it appeared that whatever had caused the wildfire had merely stalled their progress. Now, thick wooden walls, stationed concrete, and watchtowers made up the defense, while if one were to peer at the base from afar, they would find a slight, clear grey barrier surrounding it. About twenty feet from each wall, the barrier's fence would end, while it reached a few stories into the air. There were certainly more than a hundred there, to say the very least. And the scout was right. Thirty-six dead bodies lined the ground, accompanied by two more that had been mauled and desecrated by Dojo civilians. The civilians that were taken by the Trayvens were bounded to wooden stakes, thrashing at their bonds. There were three, in total. Freya would recognize these dead men. She closed her eyes, nodding towards the corpsmen to take away the bodies for burning. She would only then turn towards the first of the Dojo civilians. She'd regularly leave executions to others that were.. more fit, to the role, but.. no one would hurt her men. So she took it upon herself to do it. ----------------------------------
Open to all.
Dojo Gates "I deliver a message from Lady Freya Trayven!" A cavalryman rode his white horse up to the Dojo's gates, circling around as he awaited an answer. In his hand, he held not a weapon, but instead a banner of Trayven - white and purple in color, with a golden, roaring lion head in the center. Upon his waist, was a tightly packed scroll of ancient parchment. He.. seemed to be waiting.

  •
For Pants.
Trayven Head Camp 5:25 PM Before the messenger would gallop upwards to the steps of the Dojo, Cain and Lilly would find themselves traversing the burnt city on their own, lead through by the group of Trayven warriors that they had rescued from the haunted mine, or whatever the experience had been. Purple and white standards flew high into the air, golden lion heads stamped into their centers, while the Trayvens were.. seemingly helping with the rebuilding, yet taking to claiming more of Dojoville as time would progress. "We've arrived." The group would stop, as Cain and Lilly found themselves looking up at the Trayven garrison that had been set up. There was a single pathway that lead inti the camp, while trenches dug into the earth to the left and right, to disrupt siege warfare. Two doors made up the gateway: a sliding door which had been risen already, and one behind, of which would open upon the captain's command. Archers with bows and crossbows lined the walls and watchtowers, studying Cain and Lilly silently.

  • “Impressive. An effective choke point that will by nigh impenetrable to ground troops while vehicles will be unable to reach the walls.” Cain rambled on, admiring the camp. “Not only that, but while they rebuild the city they also take it over. Since they rebuilt it that will grant respect and loyalty from our own citizens, preventing rebellion.” “Wow Cain, you could talk about this for hours couldn’t you!” Lilly said to her brother, impressed by his knowledge of the situation. “Yes, talking about warfare is generally my strong suit. You know that.” “Yes, Yes. It’s just fun to hear you get excited about stuff like this.” The man’s sister told him with a smile. He couldn’t help but smile back before turning his attention back to the fort.

  • "I suppose that you would wish to meet Lady Freya, then? Since she spearheads the entire operation here, of course.." The captain would murmur quietly, while archers and watchmen would begin to notice the returning group, a slight confusion and wariness upon their faces. It seemed as if they had begun to taking action on their own, short phrases being passed between each other. Soon, a team would begin to approach the group, sent from the base itself.

  • “W-well, I don’t see the harm in it!” Lilly said as she looked at the new group that began its approach.

"Good afternoon, s-" "Shush, captain. It seems evident that you've failed your mission." The leader of the newly arriving group would mutter, as the captain hastily silenced himself. "...Your punishment will be later. Leave us." Soon, the captain and those with him would pass Cain, Lilly, and the new group of armored men and women. The lieutenant nodded towards Cain and Lilly, though he would look up at Cain. "Judging by the apparel, you both must be from the Dojo?"

  • “How do you know we are members of the dojo by our apparel?” Cain asked, but Lilly answered for him. “I’m pretty sure it’s because we are the only ones w-who aren’t dressed in uniform.” “Oh, that makes sense.” Lilly turned her attention to the lady who arrived. “Yes...we are with the dojo. Not really...long term members though. We’ve only been here for a couple of months.”

  • "Mm.. I see." The man would respond, his eyes still kept on Cain. He was sizing the man up, if anything at all, the others of his group behind the barrier that surrounded the encampment. "You wouldn't be here to discuss treaties, are you? Though I suppose that instead, you've escorted that bunch out of the mountains, back here.. but why?"

  • “Well, originally we had to pick up a supply drop that some lady told us to get! That drop for some reason was in the mines your folks were held up in! Then a bunch of weird paranormal g-ghost stuff happened and we all got out of there! Why we’re here? Ummmm...” Lilly raised her finger to the corner of her mouth as she thought. “We were really just heading the same way.” Cain told the man.

  • "Paranormal.. what? Lady Freya should.." The lieutenant would be silent foe a moment, looking upon the group in simple silence. Before his judgement would come, at last. "...Both of you shall explain your.. ventures.. to Lady Freya. Then, you shall leave this camp and return to your Dojo. Understood?"

  • “Understood.” Cain told the captain, his sister nodding in agreement.

"Follow me, then." As Cain and Lilly would pass through the barrier, Lilly would shimmer a little, before she could feel her magic draining away. The encampment was boosted by that effect, it seemed. "An anti-ability barrier, to put it lightly. For mages and modern soldiers whom would proceed to attack."

  • “How did you manage to create one?” Lilly asked, now gripping at her medicine bag, a sense of dread creeping up on her. Her and Cain were capable, she knew that. But without her fast healing she wasn’t sure if she would be able to keep Cain going if a battle were to break out. She really hoped a battle wouldn’t break out.

  • "Julian Trayven created them, actually. Genius kid. He is the youngest of House Trayven's children, but his fine work in the study of magics is near phenomenal, for his age. Our younger Merlin, you could call him." The man would laugh a little to himself, as he, Cain, and Lilly would find themselves in the encampment. All around, the two Coldbournes saw life, in warfare. Soldiers fought against one another in small training arenas, archers pulled back bow strings and nailed their targets head-on, robed mages and clerics spoke and adorned themselves with simple jewelry, of which granted them relief, seemingly. Cavalry horses passed by the three, as the lieutenant brought Cain and Lilly to a tent in the center, two proud lion flags beaming above. "My lady," The lieutenant would call within, as "Lady Freya Trayven" would meet her guests. Freya was simple, but different, in description. She wasn't absurdly tall, though she was above the average height at five feet and ten inches tall. A black and purple uniform adorned her being, while she had only taken to wearing a gilded steel chestplate for the time. A dagger would hang at her waist, being her only available weapon. Short red hair ran to the sides of her jawbones, while light orange eyes studied the two of which had arrived. Then, she'd speak. "...I do hope that there's a good reason, about why a child is in my garrison. If we were attacked suddenly, and if she didn't.. ...Never mind. Though judging by the apparel.. you two are from the Dojo?"

  • “Y-yes mam. We’re from the dojo.” Lilly confirmed again as she looked at the warrior before her. “And um...I’m fifteen? Not...not that it matters...just saying.” She told the General nervously as Cain looked at the woman with a silent frowning face, one that was very eye catching.

  • "...a child, nonetheless. Do not take that as an insult, but our enemies do not show mercy to any soul." Freya would not look at Lilly as she said this, but instead Cain, a stare almost identical to his own look. Though there was a simple softness in Freya's own glare - a protective one, if anything. "You may come inside and sit down, if you'd like."

  • "...I don't recall meeting a member of the Dojo, but.. perhaps we can speak inside?" Freya, while drawn in by Cain's outburst, would hold the tent's entrance open. The war table sat clean, with many chairs for sitting inside.

  • “Yes! That works.” Lilly agreed as she eyed Cain with a confused look, walking under Freya’s arm as she entered the tent. Cain eyed the fiery haired woman still as he walked cautiously towards the entrance.
I know what you're thinking, but don't just insult me and call it a day. I've been meaning to get an actual post out of you for a while now.
Someone gazed down at the messenger from the Dojo's walls, hiding in the "shadows" as to not attract unnecessary... attention. He took out his sniper, an aimed, but didn't fire. Instead, he just watched through his scope. He slung the rifle onto his back, and jumped down from the wall back inside. The man creaked open the gates, and quietly slipped out to meet the one who carried the message "Greetings, what is this message you bring for us? As long as it is not of ill intent, I would be interested to know." The man would be known as K.A.I, after the cyborg named Cain (not to be confused with one of the last remaining Coldbournes, mind you) was infected by a rouge A.I. construct after trying to hack the data stores of an abandoned ship left to drift in deep space. Why he was still in the Dojo was unknown...

  • As the sniper had the genius idea of aiming towards a messenger, the armored knight's steed suddenly turning tail as the horse would whine into a flurry of action. As if the messenger upon the steed had activated something only then, a light, clear aura would then surround the messenger, as the horse stormed down towards the camp down within the desecrated Dojoville. It would be up to the android to bother with the fortress and it's dome, taking the chance of being revealed to the Trayvens.

  • "God dammit. Looks like I'll have to do this the... no wait that's far too cliche." He initiated the android's stealth systems, becoming invisible to the naked eye and almost all scans That's better He began to follow the messenger's trail back to the camp. Maybe he could figure out what they were up to. Or not, depending if he got to them or they got to him first...

  • The android would have to get going, or simply survey the messenger ride back towards the camp. The man upon the horse would traverse throughout Dojoville, as he would pass the patrols and rebuilders with his galloping steed. Purple and white banners would fly from the buildings, with the roaring maw of a lion in the center, golden in color. The rider would enter the encampment through a barrier that was surprisingly similar to his own, through a large gateway, as the sliding door would rise up, the doors behind that creaking open. This pathway into the camp seemed to be the only revealed opening, though. Trenches ran through the front lines, archers patrolling the watchtowers and walls.. it was something.

  • Hmm. That's... impressive. Let's see if there's another way in... He used his sensors to scan the camp, uncertain if he would be able to find anything, let alone penetrate that barrier. Perhaps he could disguise himself as one of them? Might provide him with an advantage. Or not, depending on how sophisticated their tech was...

  • There was something off, with the scanner, as it studied the base.. the scans come back negatively, as if the barrier had taken to cancelling out his attempts to scan. But he'd certainly have some ideas with the actual walls: the walls, to some extent, were actually climbable, being made of brick, concrete, and such.

  • Dammit, I figured that would happen. At least there is a silver lining, the walls are climbable. If I stay hidden, I might be able to get inside... K.A.I began to approach the camp silently, still hidden in his elaborate cloaking tech. Once he arrived, he began to search for the best place to climb...
